Hot as frickin' hell up here. Just hosed the horses, they've had sprinklers on all day but apparently I do it  better Unhappy

Hope all of you in the heatwave are staying cool, all of you up north are staying dry, and everyone is staying safe from bushfires!

BP, we’ve boxed a couple of yearling colts. Well, one colt who has needed some foot treatment and one,  “Gabi”, who three days ago paid the ultimate price and is now a gelding.

37*C at the end of the day. We’d topped up their boxes with fresh sawdust but hadn’t wetted it down.

So while they were boxed we sprayed some water on the sawdust to dampen the dust.

The two, big, hero boys slunk back into the corner while we sprayed their box from the door. Dodging the water like ballerinas.

Funny boys 💕

Sorry, off thread a bit again.

We got back from lunch today and the boss said one of the colts had managed to chew open his yard, gate lock and was wandering around, chewing on the lucerne bale in his barn.

His half sister “Prevention” is having her first start at Werribee on Sunday.

Go Maggie!

1150am here and 38. Predicted 41 later.
Had a fire in inaccesable area of the Tops burned for a week. Eventually brought in the big plane with the pink stuff and the chopper to water bomb.
Bad fire just south of Buladelah has had the highway closed and opened on and off for 2 days and homes lost. Then just south at Karuah another one.  Also at Wards River and around Cessnock. Been thick with smoke here for a week. Upper Rouchel around Glenbawn Dam has been burning for a week. Bet the studs are hoping it doesnt come down the valley.
Going to sit inside under the air con and do nothing this arvo.
Stay safe everyone.

Absolutely bucketed down here at Coogee a few hours back. Still blowing a gale.

I had two juvenile lorikeets come to shelter on my bedroom window-sill, still getting soaked, even though we have a two foot overhang. As soon as the rain subsided we fed them some grain bread and they ate it as if they were starving.

Now it's a steady downpour and our 'swimming pool' is overflowing.

So far so good here.  Except for bloody fireworks on the showgrounds for a scout camp.  No one knew it was coming and now everyone is out looking for dogs.
Anyway its nice and cool and just steady soaking rain.  So far .
Amazing how quick the grass turns green.

You’d think the scouts would have had the sense to warn the community! And why do scouts even need fireworks? What happened to kumbaya round the campfire? Angry

Glad you got enough rain but not too much, aa. Same down here and all good and safe.

Hope jj’s ok, though! The Sydney coast copped a biblical battering.

Got a/c for the 1st time ever 2 years ago. It is nice to have the insurance of being able to turn it on when the nights are very warm.

So many decades of sweating through hot nights, I certainly don't indulge myself, too spartan for my own good.

I've only once seen rain as heavy as late yesterday. It was definitely 'biblical'.

I battled part of it while getting home from a baby shower yesterday. Just got inside before the deluge hit.

It turned it on here in the middle of the night. No storms or wind. Just rain, as JJ says, of biblical proportions.  Torrential for about an hour and half.  Now just rain on and off. The grass has turned green overnight, literally. Its amazing ! The horse paddock behind us was a dust bowl and now its green.
And its nice and cool and very little humidity, which is usually bad here.
Bloody fireworks.  Loathe and despise them.  Dont understand why a scout jamboree needs them.
