Has BBL finished yet? Seems to go forever. Like bloody women's AFL - every week I saw some glimpse of it and thought when the hell do they finish? (Then there about 2 goals in the grand final, wasn't there?)

BBL was fine as a bit of fun back when they had Viv in commentary and they treated it like a lark.

The Thunder appropriately storm into the finals. David Warner will get another chance to fail...Unhappy

We had a lightning strike last night that hit so close it knocked out the NBN internet. Strangely, all the power stayed on.

 Thunder and Sixers in...Clap

I am the proper full on cricket tragic, anything cricket I'm there but I cannot and will not ever pay any interest in the BBL. Other T20 tournaments I will glance at like the Jamaican one and the South African one, the Blast in the UK, caught some of the T10 euro championships, I even watched the IPL a bit during covid. But BBL, I can count the amount of balls I've seen bowled on one hand, it just is utterly unappealing imo. I can't see how it will remain appealing to people in 10 more years, it's just so boring and one dimensional.

It's no different to the plethora of start-up T20 leagues all over the world fiddler, for mine the problem with most is they lack either the longevity of a football season to create intrigue or the stability of player involvement to keep people interested.  Look at this BBL season, some players jetted off to the next T20 league half way through and the test players come in at the tail end and depart again before it's over.

Gees , Pat Cummins is copping a lot of stick about his views on climate change , my advise to him is live it, don't talk it Patty old boy , you are coming across as an A grade hypocrite as most people who are true  advocates for climate change don't drive around in a  SUV Diesel  guzzler,  just play cricket mate .

Well if you pair of old twats think Pat's a clown for supporting climate then I'm going to have to say I quite like the lad now. There's nothing quite a good person doing good things with a good heart to dredge up the cold hearted stench, of cynical old right wingers.

So what because he plays sport he's not allowed to have an opinion on world affairs ? I still drive a petrol car and eat meat too, does that make me a hypocrite because I support change in the way we do things to make the world a cleaner place ?

 I agree with Fiddles.

Why should any person not be allowed an opinion?

Doesn't matter if he is a sportsperson or a vagrant on the street.

First of all, Fiddles has zero idea what my thoughts are re climate change as I haven’t posted anything on the subject but yet he launches a personal attack at his perceived view. A view that he’s invented, seemingly to exert himself from his keyboard

Now, JJ. I agree. Any person should be allowed an opinion. I respect Pats right and probably support him on climate change….to a large degree.

Personally, I just think, as a sportsman, especially our cricket captain, that he should not use that position  to push his own personal views.

Not sure why anyone wants to get abusive……especially as  all I did, like Pat, was express a view

if you agree with free speech and an opinion, why did you tell Pat to 'shut up'?

Sorry, but your backtrack doesn't wash.

It’s not a backtrack at all. I was perfectly clear that I believe people should not use their position to push their  views when those views are not in their “field of relevance  “

Climate change has nothing to do with cricket. The Australian cricket Captain should talk about cricket.

What he says as an individual in his own private life is up to him.

Just my view

Certain football clubs have been criticised for politicising certain issues not related to football.

It comes down to if you have some clout, then use it for the good.

 I would.

Yes it does , if you are not living it and expect others to have more courage to change .
You have not only grouped me ,you have also labelled me a right winger , (yes I've got greys and sometimes I'm cynical ) which is utter rot as played centre in rugby league  and a tagger in AFL , and my exact words were "True Advocate", with True being the word ,  as so you under stand my post a little better now , I'm not someone using my  social and media status to ask others to lead the way , so their heavy footprints are smoothed over by the real believers and doers . Notice whoever you are I have restrained from any personal attack arising of your comments.
So, your  way of helping thee blokes stand up a  heavy pole is by encouraging them that they are doing a Stirling job is it ? , by the sounds of things 😂

Dylan Alcott supports the disabled community.

Raelene Boyle is a representative for breast cancer.

If Pat feels strongly about the issue...go for it.

No-one ever shut up Anthony Mundine...lol...

It’s quite simple. Sponsorships actually keeps our sports alive. Without them all major sport would be dead in its current form. Supporting a sponsors product is not damaging to the sport

A charity is not political. It’s about helping others.

errr climate change is part of most power companies futures/portfolios, you know the team is sponsored by Alinta energy right ? Climate IS ALL ABOUT helping others, that's the entire point of it, it's the most insanely selfless thing people can do, in fact Jesus himself ( if true or alive ) would applaud it.

Climate action is about securing a future for humans who are coming after we are dead, its not for us, it is for others to come. It's the antithesis of doing good for others, this is why I don't get deniers, it's a good thing to do for others, it's basically the foundations of what a charity is. Setting up clean energy no matter how hard logistically it is, will mean a long long long healthy future for humans. Climate action means to give away our lazy oil comforts and work towards other better, cleaner ways to work & live, ways that don't affect the environment as much, pollute the oceans like we do now, or ruin our species chances of survival. Once the hard work is done, it will look after itself forever. Can you imagine that world, a world so full of clean air and green forests, life expectancy would shoot through the roof, a myriad of disease and health crisis could be averted, goodness me I will be so jealous, I would love to live in that world. That world where everything is being powered by the stars and natural forces, a place where work is no longer a drag and smog is no longer a thing, the benefits are just mind blowingly endless. Deniers can't see this, I don't understand why?

I wonder if Pat expressed the opposite view if you’d support him using his position.

Some how I doubt it

As to you scenario about about living in a pristine world, I don’t know anyone who would disagree with that.
I certainly wouldn’t Thumbs Up

what about cigarettes, alcohol or the rampant pollution in the oceans from all the cans and bottles of sugar water these "sponsors" provide ? that's not for the sport of the environment, it's for one thing, shareholders profits, sponsorships are for the company to make money, they use sport as a billboard for themselves. Sport came from no sponsors and survived for many many years, and now is just addicted to it.

of course I wouldn't, but that isn't really a position is it, it's just the norm, he'd look like a right gobbler if he was preaching hey just keep doing what we are doing people, keep using your coal and oil my fans !!  That's going backwards not forwards. You can bet Pat has a brain and is clever enough to use it and have the approval of his primary sponsor to do so too.

Well, we’ll just have to disagree then, won’t we.
The Australian Cricket Captains only concern should be cricket in my belief.

Anyways, got to go and put a few bets on before my guests arrive at any tick of the clock
