NZ are 104 for 8 off 32 overs
that's disgraceful, to not bat out the overs is pretty crapola.

The BBL draw must be done as last job on a Friday before everyone heads to the pub.
Perth have already played all of their fixtures while Hobart have still got two to play, the other 6 have 1 fixture each remaining. Brisbane Heat played their two fixtures against Perth consectutively and finished with Stars-Hurricanes-Stars-Hurricanes, numerous other examples of stupidity like this. It just amazes me how sporting organisations in Australia (the NRL draw being no better) can manage to plan such stupidities into their fixtures.

Probably by trying to be to clever by half with the draw.
Hobart play today vs the Sixers and Wednesday vs the Heat, should tbey finish 4th or 5th they'll play a final on Friday with the winner of that to play Sunday against the 3rd placed side. Perth finished yesterday and the Sixers today, both now don't play again until the 28th, in that time Hobart could play another 2 matches. There is stupidity all throughout the draw when you look into it, Melbourne Stars, Sydney Thunder and Adelaide all played their second match of the season the day before Perth played their first, numerous examples of teams playing each other twice in close proximity. How is it hard to just to have the draw split into rounds of 4 match ups and go from there?

Agreed, but I doubt we will see test cricket after the Sydney New Years test for a while, unless they decide to hold tests in Feb. This January window is now seen as BBL territory.
In another example of CA's legendary scheduling, none of the test squad players will be available for the grand final qualifier or the grand final itself as they'll be preparing for the India tests. |

The whole Big Bash competition is compromised by international players turning up to play for a team, then playing three or four games and shuffling off to play for another team in South Africa, UAE or somewhere in the Caribbean. There is little loyalty by players as in one season they play or team A and the following season team B. The whole cannot be treated seriously as a genuine competition but rather a bit of hit and giggle by serious cricket followers.

Jofra Archer bowling up a storm for Cape Town in SA league last night, looks like his injuries are in the rear view mirror, let's hope that's true and he is right for the ashes in 6 months time.

This is why I can't stand all these t20 comps, one day a player you like who's in your international team is in a team where he is best mates with a rival player from an international rival..one season they can play for team X and then next season they are celebrating scoring big runs for another team..? how can anyone support this crap seriously ? This is why I only like international cricket, the players in your team are never going to be team mates with the the enemy, period. Same with footballers, does my head in they are celebrating scoring a goal for United one day and the next season they are celebrating just as much for a different club, there's no solidarity.

Agree. Makes the whole competition very shallow. Which is why of course even the most avid cricket supporter could not tell you who won all those mickey mouse T20 Comp around the world 2 years after the event.
Means bugger all

At least with most of the football codes the players will have one, maybe two clubs max over a year, some of this players in these T20 leagues could play in 5 or 6 different leagues in the one season, I think it was djebel who said a while ago he thinks it will either be this generation or the next one that produces the first superstar player who doesn't play red ball cricket at all and he's probably right due to the money involved. But at what cost to the game long term?
Check out the number of teams Chris Gayle has represented over his career, I wonder how many he would even be able to list off? |

Dan Christian boasts that he’s played for 19 different franchises in his career. Great for him but as an “older” fan, I have zero interest in that. Mind you, the kids don’t care. 5hey love it

This whole "the player" is "their brand" is so cringe imo.. cricket is a team sport but these franchises are trying to turn players into big brands or super heroes etc.. I never saw any of this coming as a kid, even world series cricket never gave me this vibe of, I'm a pro T20 cricketer follow me and watch me destroy many different clubs etc..
