The Gp3 Craven Stakes for 3yo colts & geldings over a mile at Newmarket often throws up a colt with a future & this year's winner looks well above average.

Field Of Gold (3c Kingman x Princess De Lune, by Shamardal) is a nice grey colt owned by Juddmonte who last year won the Gp3 Solario Stakes. He should be one of the better chances in the Two Thousand Guineas.

The Gp1 Prix Ganay over 10½ furlongs at Longchamp has been won by Sosie (4h Sea The Stars - Sosia, by Shamardal) who defeated Map Of Stars & Royal Rhyme.

Sosie has now won 5 races from 8 starts. Last year he won Gp1 Grand Prix de Paris, Gp2 Prix Niel, ran 3rd in Prix du Jockey Club & 4th in Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe.

The Gp1 Two Thousand Guineas for 3yos over a mile at Newmarket has been won by Ruling Court (3c Justify x Inchargeofme, by High Chaparral) defeating Field Of Gold who probably started his run too late but charged home with Shadow Of Light in 3rd place.

At his previous start, Ruling Court easily won the LR Jumeirah 2000 Guineas at Meydan.

In an interview with Matt Chapman, Kieran Shoemark has admitted that his ride on Field Of Gold was an absolute disgrace & he deserves all the abuse that has been directed at him.

He just sat there like a stuffed dummy while William Buick tmade his winning move on Ruling Court. Had he reacted when he should, Field Of Gold wins easily. Gosden needs to find a better jockey.

The Gp1 One Thousand Guineas for 3yo fillies over a mile at Newmarket has been won by Desert Flower (3f Night Of Thunder x Promising Run, by Hard Spun) who defeated Flight with Simmering 3rd.

Desert Flower is now unbeaten in 5 starts. Last year she won the Gp1 Fillies Mile & Gp2 May Hill Stakes.

It has been an incredible weekend for her owners, the Godolphin team. They won the Guineas double at Newmarket as well as the Kentucky Oaks & Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.

Ruling court also had a far better turn of foot. That to me was the difference, not so much the ride

If that is the case (and it probably is to a degree), then it is all the more reason why Shoemark should have started his move half a furlong earlier. As can be seen in the photo, Buick had gone for home while Field Of Gold was still hard held by Shoemark.

And Shoemark has already admitted that he made a mistake so there can be no argument.

There has been a change to the placings in Poule d'Essai des Pouliches.

Following a stewards' inquiry, Shes Perfect, who passed the post 1st, was disqualified and placed 2nd - caused interference. Zarigana was awarded the race.

So the winner is now Zarigana (3f Siyouni x Zarkamiya, by Frankel).

The Gp2 Middleton Fillies' Stakes over 10½ furlongs at York has been won in devastating fashion by See The Fire (4m Sea The Stars x Arabian Queen, by Dubawi) who defeated Beautiful Love by a huge margin with Royal Dress 3rd.

See The Fire looked very promising as a 2 & 3yo winning the Gp3 Strensall Stakes in 2024 & running 3rd in the Gp1 Fillies' Mile in 2023. However, she appears to have matured into an outstanding mare. First up she peaked on her run in the Gp3 Gordon Richards Stakes but today she exploded!

The Gp2 Dante Stakes for 3yos over 10½ furlongs at York has been won by Pride Of Arras (3c New Bay x Parnell's Dream, by Oasis Dream) who defeated Damysus & Wimbledon Hawkeye. The favourite, The Lion in Winter was very disappointing although he did overrace in the early stages.

Pride Of Arras had only had one previous start which he won easily last August. He will be a big hope in Derby.

His dam won over 12 furlongs so I expect he would go to Epsom.

New Derby favourites after The Lion In Winter is tamed as 18-1 Pride Of Arras ends Aidan O'Brien's Classic trial monopoly

The Lion In Winter has been usurped as favourite for the Betfred Derby by Delacroix and Ruling Court after a tame comeback effort behind the impressive Pride Of Arras in the Dante Stakes.

Making his return to the racecourse for the first time since winning the Acomb Stakes in August, The Lion In Winter was warm and fractious beforehand. Once the stalls opened, he evidently wanted to go much faster than jockey Ryan Moore wanted and pulled hard for half a mile.

Moore started to niggle the odds-on favourite at the top of the home straight and greater distress signals followed. In the end, the horse who had carried the Epsom Classic hopes for Ballydoyle for the entire winter faded tamely to finish sixth, a result in stark contrast to the dominance Aidan O’Brien has had over the Classic trials this spring.

Pride Of Arras, on the other hand, left his rider Rossa Ryan dreaming of Derby victory after impressively defeating his rivals on what was only his second start.

Positioned just behind the leaders, he quickened eye-catchingly when asked and had a length in hand over Damysus at the line. He was cut to 4-1 (from 50) for the Derby by Betfred, with Ruling Court and Delacroix the 3-1 joint-favourites for Epsom.

Ryan said: "It went lovely. It’s his second run and we were all in the camp of getting him to drop in the middle of them to learn and then figure it out from there. But, my god, he took me into the race really good and when I pulled him out he just dropped down and went.

"You’d be getting a bit excited about him, that’s for sure. He’s bred to get a mile and a half, and we can dream a bit more with this lad. He’s got a great mentality and he’s got a bright future."

The Gp1 Lockinge Stakes over a mile at Newbury has been won by Lead Artist (4h Dubawi x Obligate, by Frankel) who narrowly defeated Dancing Gemini with Rosallion third.

Lead Artist has now won 4 races from 9 starts. Last year he won the Gp3 Thoroughbred Stakes at Goodwood & the Gp3 Darley Stakes at Newmarket.

Lead Artist wins the Lockinge Stakes group1, Showing even in the UK a group 2 or 3 horse can get away with a group 1 win.

Obligate, Lead Artist's dam, won the Gp2 Prix de Sandringham.

However, looking further back in Lead Artist's damline we find his 3rd dam was the amazing Hasili, one of the greatest broodmares we have seen. Her progeny include 5 G1 winners - Banks Hill, Cacique, Champs Elysees, Heat Haze & Intercontinental, the G2 winner & G1 placed Dansili & G3 winner Deluxe. Dansili & Champs Elysees were successful stallions, not forgetting Raise The Flag who stood in New Zealand & sired some fine stayers such as Sydney Cup winner Etah James.

Shes Perfect team lose appeal against controversial French 1,000 Guineas demotion

Zarigana remains the winner of the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches

Zarigana remains the winner of the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches after the appeal lodged by connections of Shes Perfectwas unsuccessful.

The raceday stewards at Longchamp judged that Shes Perfect came off a straight line at Longchamp, carrying Ryan Moore on Exactly across Zarigana, interference they deemed to have cost the Aga Khan Studs' filly more than the margin of her nose defeat.

A hearing lasting an hour took place on Tuesday, with Charlie Fellowes saying he and Shes Perfect's rider Kieran Shoemark had put forward some "legitimate arguments" to the three-person panel.

However, France Galop published the outcome on Wednesday with no change to the stewards initial awarding of the Classic to Zarigana.

Represented by leading lawyer Florence Gaudilliere, Fellowes and Shoemark maintained their claim that nothing in the trajectory of She's Perfect did anything to prevent Zarigana going past, that Exactly had taken Zarigana's ground and that their filly was never headed at any point in the race.

In addition they pointed to what they argued was a precedent established in the case of the appeal over the 2019 Prix du Moulin – the only other Group 1 in France to be subject to this procedure since the interference rules were brought much closer to those in Britain in 2017 – in which the stewards elected not to demote Circus Maximus in favour of Romanised, despite what they claimed was "more serious interference."

They also asked for the fact that Mickael Barzalona had not appealed against his two-day ban for Zarigana's late deviation to her right to be taken into account, reasoning that he was solely responsible for not going past Shes Perfect, having dropped his whip.

Ryan Moore, who was present in the original enquiry and gave evidence by letter, said he believed he was about to go past Shes Perfect when she began to come across, and was forced to change his whip hand to avoid colliding with Shoemark's mount, therefore shifting across Zarigana.

Moore said that he was carried off his line for a total of 150 metres and was forced to race on less favourable ground than if he had kept straight, adding that the original interference had cost him all chance of winning by the time Zarigana leaned in.

Zarigana's owner, the Aga Khan Studs, was represented by another high-powered legal mind in Mathieu Offenstadt, and based their argument around the loss of balance and momentum caused by the domino effect of Shes Perfect coming across, and the fact that the drift had lasted for more than 100 metres.

Barzalona said his filly had been ready to accelerate before becoming unbalanced, while additional points raised were the opinion that Zarigana was in front the stride after the line, and that Fellowes had admitted that there was "minor interference" in an interview with "a British journalist", presumed to be one he gave to Sky Sports Racing.

Sosie was stunning. He really should not have caught the runner up Sardinian Warrior.

Las Angeles was stunning, he really should not have got back up and beaten the runner up Anmaat.

I am f**king crying.
