There is a certain element in society today that look down on women who prefer to be good old fashioned feminine types. You know - allow a man to treat them a little bit special. To spoil them, to comment how pretty they look, to open a car door for them, to pick up the bill. If your not out there going head to head with a fella - be it business, sport or anything else - then somehow your letting the side down

So old fashioned I know.

If people are not interested in sport they are more likely into the arts, whereas those into sport are less likely to have any interest in the arts. My wife has said she never sees any AFL footballers at the ballet. I do not recall Robert Helpmann ever attending a VFL Grand Final back in the 1960s or 1970s.

And you are delusional. Lets face it - you really wanted to be born a bloke. And have a chip on your shoulder that you weren't. Most women I know are perfectly happy being that way. They don't need to spend their every waking hour trying to prove that they are as good as fellas.

that may be true to a certain extent but not really imo. I love sport, I love the arts too, I write music and paint murals, I also love the outdoors, gardening forests etc. You can love all sorts you don't have to fit into some old fashioned stereo type.

Really? Why isn't that converted into one of the top ten sponsorship deals?  I doubt she's in the top 1000 in that category.

Femininity - it's the old nature/nurture debate again ain't it. How much of feminity is a social construct and how much is determined by biology?

What's the biggest crowd our socceroos have drawn?

Bet it wasn't as big as last night's 75,000.

So much for women's sport being unmarketable...

Best tickets in the house cost $40.
IF, it was the men’s World Cup, the cheapest seats would be $400.
There’s 10% of the tourists here, than there would be if it was the men’s….

So, undoubtedly there’s interest, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves about it being close to equal levels of interest.

I think the reasons we are seeing these huge crowds for women's cricket ( T20 world cup final ) and football is because it is super family friendly, there are no scary, mad, drunk guys with flares, fists and flags, so people now can actually go to sport and sit and watch an event knowing it will be a completely safe and friendly environment. It's the perfect sport for people to go see who aren't into that loud crazy rabid supporters you see at football etc..

Then, what was your point?

I didn’t watch the game.

Saw some “experts” marveling at the courageous save by our goalie late in the game…..

Seriously, it was under 14 Div 3 standard….

I’m not suggesting that’s the skill level for everyone in the comp.
But I get frustrated that people want to glorify absolutely mediocre efforts, as miraculous.

and I get tired and frustrated at King Rusty thinking his opinion is supreme.

Seventy-five thousand people attended that match last night...and many more watched it.

If you didn't watch it, how would you know the standard of play...?????????????

Just buzz off and watch your pathetic sea-eagles...now that is a substandard team..
