Ok - its 2050 & this current era of Tennis is being discussed. Who do you think will be considered the greatest - Federer, Raffa , Dovovic. 

Assume all have retired LOL

Current Records ; 

Federer 40 yrs old / 20 grand slams / 103 career titles

Raffa - 35 yrs old / 20 grand slams / 89 career titles

The Joker - 34 years old / 20 grand slams / 86 career titles


My overall rankings - The Joker  - Federer - Nadal

Federer won a lot of his grand slams before Joker and Rafa were grown up. Rafa is clay-centric. Joker has won all his grand slams while Fed and Rafa were fully matured and has the best balanced career between all surfaces. Novaxx is the winner.

For me head to head record has to come in as well, purists always say Federer but the reality is that he is 23-27 against Djokovic and 16-24 against Nadal, Djokovic currently leads the head to head against Rafa 30-28.  All are currently level on grand slams until Novak wins the Aus open in a couple weeks and jumps in front, Novak also leads in the number of masters tournament wins on 37 to Rafa's 36 and Federer back on 28.

He's an absolute plonker of a bloke but it's clearly Djokovic.

How are Djokovic's stats misleading?

Let's be honest, maintaining fitness is all part of sport, injuries suffered by one and not the other aren't really a valid argument as to who was the better.

Not sure I agree Afros. I played 5 games in the EPL and reckon I would have been better than Ronaldo if it was not for injury ruining my career.

So the competition does not come into it?

Federer was playing for about four years against seasoned quality players such as Agassi, Roddick, Murray, Carlos Moya, Gustavo Keurten, Tim Henman, Marat Safin, Pete Sampras, as well as players like Kafelnikov, Berdych, Nalbandian, Rios and others, which the other two played at the end of the careers.

Also Australia actually had three top ten quality players in Hewitt, Rafter and Phillipoussos, so you know it was a good crop of players if we had a good trio.

The generation that Rafa and Novak have come through have shown repeatedly, that they are below them and Roger. 

If Rafa and Novak are the best they should be able to play until they are 40 and so they should get to at least 30 grand slams each. 

If everything stays the way it is then Federer is the best, but as stated, Rafa and Novak have at least another three years at least to pass him.
