Having said all that, I wouldn’t mind moving to Iceland.

Sounds like my sort of community.

My very post I said groceries, fuel, living expenses are higher don't know why you want to keep banging on about those things.

I've provided the proof re housing. Not sure where you're getting figures from.

As for purchasing power OECD has Iceland ahead https://www.oecd.org/en/data/indicators/purchasing-power-parities-ppp.html

No. This was your post I’ve responded to.

Real disposable incomes are basically equal. What you pay extra for groceries, fuel, living expenses is made up for with higher median wages and lower housing costs.

& in a 159 lite barrel of crude oil....we refine it down to 74 litres of petrol & 47 litres of diesel (rest jet fuel + other)

I'm starting to see why diesel is our biggest issue !

Which reminds me....when seeing renewables claims be very, very mindful of the term "UPTO"

You know....a headline saying  "we had a record upto 70% of renewables energy in our grid across Australia on such & such a day".....& everyone goes WOW !!

What they fail to tell you is 12 hours earlier....& 12 hours later....the figure was closer to 10% OuchConfused

Comprendo !

How secure do you think large scale wind & solar farms would be during war ?

Wouldn't last 2 seconds i would have thought

Not good...but how much effort would it take to knock out a big solar or wind warm. They are up to to 160 square miles in China....couple of drones could decimate it in a few seconds. The biggest wind farm has 7,000 turbines....how you going to protect that ?

Think your own argument is falling on top of you PT

In fact, thanks for bringing it up.....surely it's enough to minimise the dependence on  renewables....based on national security alone !

How do you steal it and sell it if you have blown it up?

Do you have to blow up the rooftop solar on every house?

Oh i see....so we are back to rooftop solar again...the ONLY renewables technology i see merit in.

Here's the problem....you will never get anywhere near your Renewables targets via rooftop solar only

Which means you need the other highly vulnerable renewables options....which simply can never be protected against attack. Which means you still need pretty well all the fossil fuel backup you have now....lets see Bromance get on his soapbox telling everyone that little reality !

You invade a country to seize it's oil or gas

Will you invade a country to steal it's windmills?

In Tasmania....23% of households have rooftop solar....& yet it only contributes to under 4% of Tasmania's total grid demand

Think we may have a problem Houston !

Or you invade a country to get access to untold resources....strategic location....& use destroying the Electricity Supply as a way to help achieve it.

Let's give it a rest you guys.
The thread is about Things You Might Not Know - and we all know you two disagree on anything and everything, so we don't need anymore of it for now.
Move on.
