PT, you have had a ball today, Barnaby is back in the race as leader of the Nats. and Bandt is, according to your good self, favourite to lead the Greens. What more could you wish for ? Bill to takeover from Albo ?

One political pundit put the choice of a new leader of the Greens this way “ what a choice: Adam Bandt or Sarah Hanson-Young, the utterly ineffective or the irritatingly insufferable “.

Speaking of Sarah Hanson Young I see David Leyonhjelm had to pay her legal costs estimated at north of $500k as well as compensation of $120k. for defaming her.

Di Natale is retiring from politics for "family reasons " and can you believe he quits in the middle of a climate emergency, of which he has been banging on about for years.

By the way, a slight diversion off topic but it’s one of the great Aussie band albums.

Had a great night at Kinsellas with James, Kate & Annalise before James death. He was truly a great singer

If he is to wait around for CoalMo to recognize the problem and fix it, he will never get out.

Running away before the class action litigation starts rolling out against him and his Labor Party mates in Victoria for willful criminal negligence for stopping "adequate fuel reduction measures".

How are your mobs formal coalition partners going? You own Barnyard and whatshisname that still leads them after another coup attempt today.

Labor weren't stupid enough to sign a contract with a party they are getting votes from regardless and dont have to make a Green PM. How dumb is that?LOL

If all of those Green members of parliament were the names of horses in a Ballarat Maiden race, I could not back any of them as a winner, they are all losers.

Thankfully never. And luckily for Barny as well, he needs a ministerial level income so he can afford a beer after paying for his two families.

Well, here we go with Bandt, the newly elected leader of the Greens, has come out fighting with his long-time rhetorical "message" of how to save the planet and at the same time blaming all the world's perceived problems  on "big business" and the conservative government.

Bandt has used his first speech as leader of the Greens to accuse big businesses of “killing people”.

The federal Member for Melbourne also called for a Green New Deal, which included a public education system that was “genuinely free” and a “manufacturing renaissance” that would make Australia a renewable energy superpower.

The 47-year-old former industrial relations lawyer has held the inner-city seat for a decade and becomes the first Greens leader in the House of Representatives after Senator Richard Di Natale’s surprise resignation on Monday.

Mr Bandt attacked the government’s climate change policies, claiming they would cause “three times as many deaths” as this summer’s bush fire crisis, which has already claimed 33 lives.

“Big business that makes its money by killing people and endangering people’s safety should be worried,” he said.

Mr Bandt said Prime Minister Scott Morrison had Australia “on track for three degrees of global warming”.

“These catastrophic bushfires have happened at one degree,” he said. “Scott Morrison’s plan is for at least three times as much pain, three times as much suffering and three times as many deaths at least, because that is what is in store for us if we keep on going the way the government has us going.”

He said he was interested in working with Labor, but not while their policies were similar to the government’s.

“Labor keeps agreeing with the Liberals on coal and tax cuts for millionaires,” he told the Herald Sun. â€œWe’ll provide a real alternative.”

Labor leader Anthony Albanese told the ABC: “Adam Bandt’s rhetoric is more extreme than Richard Di Natale’s rhetoric was, but we’ll wait and see how that plays out.”

The Greens spilled their co-deputy leader positions yesterday, with Senator Larissa Waters returned along with Nick McKim, who defeated Mehreen Faruqi and Sarah Hanson-Young.

Mr Bandt also said he wanted to turn Victoria into a haven for companies that wanted “cheap, clean, renewable energy”.

Bob, news flash. The Greens are not the govt, they are a 10.4% party with one seat in the House. You should put your energy into holding this feckless govt accountable rather than looking for someone else to blame.
