You can almost certainly guarantee the bottom two groups are right wing / Coalition voters.

Imagine being so poorly briefed, Or deliberately misinformed? 24 charged over alleged deliberately-lit bushfires 53 legal actions for allegedly failing to comply with a total fire ban, and 47 legal actions for allegedly discarding a lighted cigarette or match on land. Not 180.

Thanks Afros, was this a quote from the friends families and loved ones of the HUNDREDS of people who have been buried as a result of "green tape" keeping them "safe" ...Embarrassed

Clearly you have no idea shouty.

Because that's what the regulations are there for shouty, to make it as safe as possible when performing burn offs. When it's hot, dry and windy it is not safe to perform burn offs. This is just the perfect storm of a high level of fuel load coupled with bad weather conditions.

You need to step out of the prism of your political opinion look at this for what it is, although I'm sure you will just ignore this and continue to shout your usual childish dribble about hand wringers and RRRRREEEEEEE and so on.

Ummm you are correct to some degree Afros, except for the fact that this fuel build up didn't happen this year, or last year, or the year before ... this is the result of decades of fuel build up ... I have a National Park at my backdoor, and i know that fuel reduction has been carried out by the local BFB ONCE in 25 years.

Over that time, my neighbour has hired a slasher, and created a 100 meter cleared area that he maintains as lawn - like the aborigines did - we even get the odd rock wallaby out there, but best utilised for cricket and footy.

Regardless, I've spent time on the roof with a hose and towels blocking the downpipes in the past, and seen a neighbour's house 150 meters away burnt to the ground - destroyed by a flying ember ... fortunately the most dangerous conditions are when we have a hot dry westerly, and the threat is from embers travelling from a kilometer or more away across the river, and that would push a blaze out the back away from us ... but if we get the wrong conditions, we could easily be a statistic.

So, that is my point ... it hasn't been too hot dry and windy at your place for that fuel reduction to be carried out every year for the past few decades, has it?

Green ignorance is deadly, and the fact is that they have resisted fuel reduction at every level based on flawed ideology.

ScoMo will have the opportunity to create his legacy as our Greatest Ever Environmental Leader when this is over - REAL investment into National Parks, and tens of thousands of jobs for Indigenous Public Servants, managing our Flora and Fauna once again ...

If as the Greens claim they recently cobbled together a policy that suddenly claims to support fuel reduction, then it is just another case of opportunistic hypocrisy by a bunch of divisive, hateful, dishonest, Socialists who own the ALP ... have they re-posted their Death Tax Policy on their website btw?

I've heard them speak about their new policy, and it is so heavily conditioned it will lead to no change - all the "experts" required to allow a burn are greenies anyway and the "green tape" will take years for any kind of approval in most areas ... but then, they are not in government, and they never will be, so who cares what lies they tell?

I hope you get a chance to change things before it is a moot point.

... who cares about the arsonists? We have had arsonists since we dicovered fire, and we have had them every year that there has been a bushfire and we always will - man's inate fascination with fire will never go away. Besides, how can you really determine how many fires are arson, or nature, when most of them seem to be form embers from an existing fire?

It really doesn't matter, it is no more important that "climate change" ...

I understand what you are saying re burn offs doc, but what would you say if you lost your house due to a hazard reduction burn? These are more complex than simply light a match and the hazard is all gone. The less stringent the requirement re conditions before permits are given the greater chance of problems.

Unfortunately in this the right just scream ITS ALL THE GREENIES FAULT and the left retort IT'S ALL CLIMATE CHANGES FAULT, this for me is an issue we all need to look at from outside the prism of our political opinion and get to the bottom of, instead everyone is playing the blame game and looking to score cheap political points.

I'd be like you Afros ... mighty pissed off ... but I'd be more pissed if I lost my life or that of a family member in one of these uncontrollable infernos that are inevitable if nothing changes.

To fix this - assuming we are not the subject of a George Soros Weather Manipulation Conspiracy - will require a HUGE change in policy and LOTS of money - and I support that!

If the timeframe for fuel reduction has reduced, the answer is simple - engage more resources! ... Half the job is done now by these massive fires removing the fuel in ;lots of areas anyway.

We will need to start employing and training TENS OF THOUSANDS of people across the country to carry out the required work - more public servants, but not superfluous pen pushers.

We will need to seriously consider and i think we must adopt the traditional Indigenous approach to flora and fauna management - this is a great opportunity to address Indigenous unemployment in the bush.

We will need to revisit sustainable logging, firewood collection and livestock grazing ... do we actually need National Parks with gates and ticket booths? ... why are they not just Public Parks, with unlimited access for all, managed using our taxes?

We will need to address Urban Planning rules and Building Material restrictions - to protect stupid people from themselves.

Regardless of whether there is a Climate Emergency or not, the Agenda 21 policies of returning nature to its natural state, and the carbon banking for Kyoto has ended in tears ... adapt or perish.

... oh, and we need this to be fully supported by ALL sides of politics ... the Greens need to do more than just pay lip service to being environmentalists, and work for the citizens as well.

Simple really ... the ALP can still carry on about coal as much as they like.Big smile

With regard to building material restrictions I wouldn't count on much happening as they cannot even deal with the cladding issue happening in cities now. Good luck with a sensible policy once the various industry lobby groups weigh in. People power telling their local members what they think and then not being afraid to vote them out if they do not support local thoughts is the only way change will occur. Pollies self interests trumps all else.

  • Significantly improved environmental benefits. It is the only brick; block, panel or paver that actually stores (traps) carbon gas. Timbercrete is made from discarded timber a waste product (containing carbon) which is sequestered in a cementitious tomb. This process offsets the carbon gas emissions of thousands of cars per year. Being a carbon trap or a carbon sink it locks up thousands of tonnes of carbon gases annually. The more widely Timbercrete is used the greater the amount of carbon gas that is sequestered.
  • It has a lower embodied energy; because it takes vastly less energy to produce compared to traditional clay fired bricks.
  • A significantly improved insulation value (R) when compared to traditional clay and concrete bricks, blocks and panels.
  • Improved thermal mass, (specific heat) when compared with other insulating products. Thermal mass is the ability of a product to store thermal energy and release it slowly.
  • Improved engineering diversity, due its lighter semi flexible quality.
  • Lighter weight (2.5 times lighter than concrete or clay).
  • Improved workability, it can be nailed and screwed just like timber.
  • Improved fire rating compared to concrete, clay, timber or steel.
FRL240/240/240 (at 190mm thick). Exceeding the highest possible fire rating.
  • It is bullet proof when fired at with a vast array of weaponry, even a 50 calibre metal jacket bullet. Other commonly used building products, such as clay or concrete bricks and aerated concrete shatter even when using lower powered weaponry.

It would be interesting to see if any homes/buildings made of this product were in a recent fire and how they fared. With those fires any gaps would allow entry of hot gases potentially starting a fire from the inside. Benex makes some similar claims. The investigation after this is over will presumably make recommendations on the building materials etc, but in light of the cladding fiasco I don't give it much hope.

Former Greens candidates celebrate bushfires destroying local woodchip mill which employs more than 70 people

An environmental group, headed by former Greens candidates, has celebrated the destruction of a local woodchip mill after it was set ablaze by out of control bushfires on the NSW south coast.

The group, Environment East Gippsland (EEG), published a Facebook post on Monday, showing the Eden Woodchip Mill on fire along with a caption celebrating the devastation.

“YESSS!!! In all this horrific loss – some really good news!” the group wrote. “The Eden Chipmill is burning down – all buildings and infrastructure as well as the woodchip pile.”

Hours later, after the group had received a barrage of complaints, the post was edited in an attempt to tone down their elation.

“The Eden woodchip mill is burning,” the updated post read. “This is very symbolic. The writing was on the wall for this mill.”

Caldron Pool is a politically and theologically conservative website providing news and opinion on culture, life, family, religion and current events around the world.

It was launched in October 2017 to offer a conservative and Christian perspective on important cultural issues, and to offer a voice for what has been commonly called the ‘silent majority.’

It is our belief that the best way to ensure freedom, equality, and justice for all is for a nation to ground its laws and policies on Christian principles derived from the Bible.

Where does the Eden Mill get its timber? From its own plantations or native forests?

Is that like a certain President's claims that he saw Muslims dancing in the streets of New Jersey celebrating 9/11?

Channel 7 have been at the center of disinformation and anti climate science especially their morning program.

May have happened but I wouldn't put too much confidence in those people, considering the conspiracy theories they spread.

The Greens are calling for an immediate closure of Eden Woodchip Mill and a halt to native forest logging following the recent announcement by South East Fibre Exports that it will not renew its contract with VicForests.

Woodchipping in NSW has been responsible for the clear-felling of native forests to produce only minimal profits despite public subsidies, and has caused serious damage to forests and native wildlife habitats.

The Greens are calling on the local MPs, Andrew Constance the state MP for Bega and Peter Hendy the federal MP for Eden-Monaro, to work with industry to wind up this chipmill.

Greens NSW MP and Spokesperson for Forestry David Shoebridge said:

“Wood chipping native forests is an idea whose time has passed. It has been one of NSW’s most damaging industries, responsible for the clear-felling of native forests, while producing losses for both the company and the state government owned Forestry Corporation despite public subsidies.

“The announcement by South East Fibre Exports proves what many in the community and the Greens have long been saying, that the company is running at a continual loss and is neither financially or environmentally viable.

“The woodchipping industry needs to now go the way that the whaling industry did in the 1930s and 50s, and recognise that their operations are financially and ecologically unsustainable.

“The NSW Government needs to transition workers towards a future where jobs and forests are managed sustainably for the good of the community and the environment” Mr Shoebridge said.
