Courtesy of Racing.com:

Champion trainer Peter Moody may have uncovered his VRC Oaks filly after Autumn Angel broke her maiden in dominant style at Sandown on Wednesday.

The $230,000 daughter of The Autumn Sun found fresh air in the straight with Billy Egan on board, running out a 1.8-length winner.  Autumn Angel firmed into a $9 chance for the Oaks on the back of the win, having opened as a $51 hope in the futures market.

Moody said Autumn Angel would be the type that would continue to thrive the further she gets up in distance.  "She's come on well, this filly. I was a little bit concerned she might have found it (1300m) a bit short," Moody said. "She's a type of filly we have pigeonholed as our Oaks-type filly this preparation.  "It augurs well going up in trip, going forward."

Moody said he and training partner Katherine Coleman won't rush into a decision on where they head to next with Autumn Angel.  "We will quietly go home and plot a course. Her next run will be around that 1400-metre, 1500-metre mark," Moody said.  "Does that involve black type straight away or do we try and put one more on the resume? We will let the program dictate a little bit to us as we go forward."

Great win By Autumn Angel from TAS' first crop, which consisted of some ordinary mares
I Read a statement from John Freyer re anticipations of TAS  in ANZ bloodstock news "But also the Galileo influence in his family, and that Aga Khan family is playing a little stouter than we may have anticipated. The Aga Khans always had plenty of depth and quality about them"
Did he expect TAS would do, breed Horses like Vain?
Azmiyrna the dam of TAS, is a 1/2 to AZAMOUR , and the Sprinter Arazan by Anabaa, Asmara his gdam won over 2000m in the Trigo Stks,
Then his maternal GGrand Sire is Lear Fan the Miler, x Roberto the Derby winner, and if thats not enough Darshaan is the 4th Sire
I have always thought that TAS would be an exceptional Sire, and He may now be on his way to being that

Trifecta Aust Oaks. Way to go. Obviously improve with age and experience , but notably, when stretched to middle distance. Aust stayers may be in”good hooves” ,instead of hands.

Thanks Majestic.  Quite extraordinary.

ps there's even a chance a filly by the name of Burlington Gate could add the Queensland Oaks to The Autumn Sun's resume.

As I have mentioned here to before and to anyone else remotely interested, this bloke is a gun, with only 4 SW's to his name including 2 G1's, Trifecta in a G1 classic no less
I believe next crop coming through and after will be equally as good probably better, but is he going to do a POD (Pride of Dubai), with his daughters being his best?

"By champion sire Redoute's Choice out of a Galileo mare, he could be Australia's next super sire.

These fillies are all from his first crop, highlighting his extraordinary potential as a stallion.

Unfortunately, he suffered a recent pelvic injury but it is hoped he will fulfil his stallion duties when the breeding season kicks off on September 1"

Could he be the "next Zabeel" as the sire people look for when assessing the breeding of the runners in any of the classics at a distance of 2000 and beyond?

The Autumn Sun withdrawn from service for the upcoming 2024 stud season following a pelvic injury last March.
What a disaster for Arrowfield, and all the breeders who have committed quality mares to him this season. Such a shame, lets just hope he recovers okay.

Hopefully short term pain for long term gain; he's such a young horse still.

I thought he was a little overrated on the racetrack.

JJ Atkins is an afterthought so doesn't even count. Then the Gp1s he won at 3yo none of the placegetters went on to do all that much.

But, he is doing a good job at stud.

You beat me to it LH.

Now starting to get more male winners, and his stock aren't just good they generally appear a pleasure to train along with being sound as.

He was a beautiful yearling.  Someone had him in one of the comps here and although I followed him I wasn't game enough to do that.  We had only six to choose and the cheaper ones have done the best for me.  Pity the photo doesn't show AA.
