I think we have a govt now and not a ruling party. Things will be different. AlboPM has sure hit the ground running though.

JOBS FOR THE BOYS
Well the ALP have been in government since Saturday and there are already rumours of jobs for the boys. Ex ALP communications minister Stephen Conroy may have to give up his gig on SKY channel as he  has already been sounded out for a director's spot on Australia Post, even former ALP treasurer Wayne Swan or former ALP finance minister Lindsay Tanner are rated odds on to chair the Cbus superannuation fund.

You would think that they would at least waited until all their government ministers had been sworn in. I know all political parties do favours handing out "jobs for the boys", but within a few days of attaining government is a bit hot, even by past ALP appointments.

Credit where credit is due, but how is she going with Russia, Iran & North Korea ?
If she is able to get through, even to one of those countries, which of course are unlike Indonesia or France for which we share common ground, she will probably be one of the best foreign ministers in Australia's history.

Russia, Iran and North Korea.LOL The only way they are relevant to Australia is if we get dragged into an American war. Indonesia and China - that's our focus.

Anthony Albanese may be a political veteran but he is better known for waffling than delivering a zinger. But cometh the hour, cometh the man.

"If you want change, change the government,” Anthony Albanese cried, stunning those on his own side that he delivered the message so well. LOL

C'mon Bobby, surely you can do better then this?

Relations with neighbours and large trade partners are important to maintain, Indonesia are both a near neighbour and a trade partner, China are by a distance our largest trade partner.

Russia: More interested in having a sphere of influence over Eastern Europe and trading with Europe.

Iran: We have little cultural, geographical or trade links with Iran.

North Korea: You do realise they don't talk to anyone but China?

Within our region we have many countries with larger populations than ourselves such as Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia that are potential trade partners plus the two big fish emerging economies in China and India, why as a nation would we need to worry about these 3 nations you speak of?

The last few seats are very slow being determined, they are up to 80% counted but can still come in for a few days yet with every ballot being counted 3 times by hand.

Antony Green this morning

The three seats left in doubt will have no fresh counting today. Staff will be processing declaration envelopes to be ready for a big count on Monday. That should clarify the final result - unless the three seats remain ultra-close.

McNamara called for Labor, makes 76. Labor still leading by .2% in Gilmour, so a chance of having a Labor speaker and not needing to talk to Andrew Wilkie.
