The waste of money always gob-smacks me. Why spend your hard-earned on something which can destroy your health?

Ah JJ, the things I’ve done (and many others that might destroy my health).

Driving a car? “Very dangerous Will Robinson”.
Skydiving? Non jumpers would never understand.
Smoking? Not a good idea that might shorten your life a bit
Walking across a pedestrian crossing? A chance you’ll die.
Marry the wrong person? Don’t eat the mushrooms.

Every person is (or should be) in control of their own lives. If the ones who don’t want to cause any outside drama (other than to themselves) want to lead lives not medically sensible? That’s their problem.

I need a durrie 👍

Must admit i've always respected people who can have a great time in a party environment

As a young bloke it was my worst nightmare.....to be sober when everyone else was on the turps / other. If i arrived late i'd make up lost time very, very quickly

As i got older i found it easier.....although still not too fussed

However for all that....i really am a party animal. Love getting smashed, singing, dancing when blotto only......& smiling at everyone

Can help myself LOL

Oneone, can I ask a genuine question?

Why are you more fixated on the illegal tobacco trade than hard, illegal drugs?

Let alone do submariners smoke tobacco, do drugs, or both, and which of same might particularly scupper AUKUS. Shocked

Both are no good

Lost my sister to lung cancer last year....smoking....but that is not my main beef. At the end of the day if you want to smoke....off you go.

What bugs me is that criminal gangs are rolling in dosh because of it......& the product is legal....& supposed to be raising revenue.....not helping crime fester. And what bugs me even more is the pathetic effort supposedly being made by those in charge to sort it. And that's aimed at all the Pollies....weak as piddle.....& as i said earlier.....it's why the Trumps / Hansons of this world get so much leverage.

FF, can I ask you a question?

Why does an obviously smart person like you smoke to begin with?

 Confused

Very good question JJ.

As a kid a lot of the family smoked. Christmas and Easter we kids would be fogged in.

I pinched my mum’s Craven A’s as a 12 year old.

I gave it up for 20 years and started flyfishing. There was nothing better than spending 15 mins, rolling a durrie and watching the stream.

Am I addicted? Probably.

Do I care? Not really.

Will I die earlier than I would have? Probably.

Does each one of us live our own life? Yes.

If someone’s answer to the question, “What is a good life?” Is longevity, I don’t agree.

Live every minute. Because it doesn’t last all that long.

 Depends.

My mother was still beating us at ALL types of games, at age 98. She delivered meals-on-wheels four days before she died. Was still compos mentis until the end.

A life well-lived and useful till the day she died.

I will not last anywhere near that long...but I'm living the best life I can regardless.

Kind of back to the topic and kind of related to the current discussion - Interesting to see Fijian Police intercept a mini submarine packed with Coke in the last day or two. Must be still some cash in illegal drugs.

Would be good if someone smarted than me could post it.

Obviously cannot be too bright Rhino....more lucrative & less chance of arrest flogging illegal cigarettes in your front yard back here.

Might just be prudent to install a sprinkler system in the house & car !!

I was wondering how a mini semi-submersible - they don't fully submerge - could travel 10,000 km from Ecuador to Fiji. D'Oh! Obvious, dummy. They meet up with motherships along the journey at prearranged GPS coordinates to refuel.

Or the narco-sub can get a tow off the mothership or keep it on deck and only launch close to port.

Thanks Scummo

A new United States congressional report has openly contemplated the US navy not selling any nuclear submarines to Australia – as promised under Aukus – because the US wants to retain control of the submarines for a potential conflict with China over Taiwan.

Albo on ch 24 now from adelaide with malinauskus.  SA and malinauskus will be the big winner from the subs program.  Imagine bikies will be moving to SA to cash in on the construction works.  No doubt home prices will go up.

According to a recent online AGE headline the EU want a defence pact with Aus.  Perhaps that is why the EU is suddenly keen on a trade deal.  I wouldnt want a defence pact with that useless lot.

  • Key Ally Status: Australia is a major non-NATO ally of the United States.
