Great mare.

Her run last start was well below her standard.

Shame she goes out on that note.

With the curtain set to be drawn on another Spring Carnival, we have said goodbye to a number of race-track favourites.

Some are off to Living Legends, a pair of them are off to Ireland and some of them to the breeding barn.

Check out which horses have graced the racetrack for the final time this spring.

TWILIGHT PAYMENT - 9 wins, $5.82m

A life at Living Legends now awaits the 2020 Melbourne Cup winner after his 11th placing in this year's race was followed by the announcement it was his final start. Twilight Payment ran in the Melbourne Cup on three occasions under the care of Joseph O'Brien and won nine races in total, including the Curragh Cup twice. He will join fellow Lloyd Williams-owned Melbourne Cup winners Almandin and Efficient at Living Legends.

PRINCE OF ARRAN - 6 wins, $3.66m

If Aussies like something enough, they'll often try and adopt it as their own. This was certainly the case with the Charlie Fellows-trained Prince Of Arran, who placed in the Melbourne Cup on three occasions. His trips Down Under also included victories in the Geelong Cup and Hotham Stakes. While we didn't get to see Prince Of Arran as a nine-year-old this year, he will certainly always have pride of place in the memory of many racing fans worldwide.

FIFTY STARS - 10 wins, $2.74m

Fifty Stars made a winning debut at Warrnambool back in March 2018 and in his subsequent 35 starts would go on to contest 15 Group 1 races. His crowning moment would come at his final victory in the 2020 Australian Cup, but he could only manage 10th place when in his defence of the race this year after starting as favourite. The seven-year-old was transferred to Tom Dabernig this spring but wasn't able to recapture his best form. A G1-winning son of Sea The Stars, Fifty Stars will now stand in Ireland at Sunnyhill Stud as a National Hunt stallion.

BEST OF DAYS - 6 wins, $1.91m

Since arriving from the UK in 2018 as a G2 winner, Best Of Days has been a regular at Australia's carnivals racing in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth and Brisbane. After claiming the Cantala Stakes in 2018 on the back of success in the Coongy, just three months later he refused to leave the barriers in the Futurity Stakes. While his final victory of six wouldn't come until the Carlyon Cup this year, the eight-year-old would place on 14 occasions throughout his career.

MIAMI BOUND - 5 wins, $1.83m

The 2021 Melbourne Cup was the final time Miami Bound will be seen on the racetrack. The daughter of Reliable Man leapt to prominence early in her career, breaking her maiden at her second start at Bendigo over 1400 metres and later that spring she would complete the Wakeful-VRC Oaks double. She would return as a mare and win the Moonee Valley Gold Cup and place at G1 level in the Tancred Stakes and Sydney Cup.

MIRAGE DANCER - 5 wins, $1.57m

The son of Frankel arrived Down Under amid great expectation back in 2019 when his first Australian start saw him finish third in the Caulfield Cup behind Mer de Glace. His sole Australian win would come in the G1 Metropolitan. A stable favourite who co-trainer Natalie Young came out of 'retirement' to ride trackwork on, Mirage Dancer will stand at Castlefield Stud in Ireland as a National Hunt stallion.

RUBISAKI - 8 wins, $1.26m

An $85,000 yearling purchase from Prime Thoroughbreds proved a savvy investment and gave a quick return to her owners after Rubisaki won eight of her first 10 starts. The Patrick Payne-trained mare tackled G1 company on just one occasion when finishing a valuable third in the Sangster Stakes and she is sure to be a sought-after broodmare.

ICONOCLASM - 11 wins, $1.10m

Starting his career with Darren Weir, Iconoclasm would win seven of his first 12 starts. After being transferred to Danny O'Brien, he won first-up at Caulfield and would go on to win three-consecutive editions of the VOBIS Gold Star on Manikato Stakes Night at The Valley. He finished fourth in the same race this year, which was his final race start.

GREYWORM - 8 wins, $535,300

Whether it was for his colour, his name (Game of Thrones fans will understand) or just his never-give-in attitude, Team Hawkes galloper Greyworm certainly had his fans. Winning three of his first four starts in Victoria, it was in Sydney where the son of Master Of Design excelled, winning a further five races including the G3 Hall Mark Stakes - winning the most races on Sydney tracks over the season. Retirement now beckons with his owners at Eden Park Stud.

GALAXY RAIDER - 5 wins, $495,675

Galaxy Raider started his career win a win at Sandown, circling rivals and creating plenty of hype in what would later be known as his trademark style. The son of Hard Spun would go on to start favourite in eight of his next 10 starts, winning one and going down by short margins on various occasions. Galaxy Raider would later go on to post back-to-back wins at Flemington at the start of 2020 and be placed at G3 level in the Victoria Handicap behind Mr Quickie and Still A Star earlier this year.

TAILLEUR - 6 wins, $455,815

Tailleur is another we won't see carrying the Godolphin blue again after running her last race on Derby Day. She burst onto the racing scene winning six of her first eight races but wasn't able to replicate that form in her two Melbourne starts this spring in the Northwood Plume and Furphy Sprint.

FROST FLOWERS, - 1 win $125,150

After just six race starts the one-time Blue Diamond hopeful from earlier this year has been retired. An encouraging win down the Flemington straight on debut in January saw her start a $1.65 favourite when third in the Blue Diamond Preview. She did not progress to the Blue Diamond, instead sticking to the shorter course of the Talindert, but did find form when returning as a three-year-old.
