Multiple Group 2 winner Haut Brion Her has run out of time to be fit for a second The Everest tilt with connections electing to retire the classy sprinter to the breeding barn.

Suspect we can add Spectators On Course as a casualty. Please all pile on if I turn out to be wrong, I will be very happy to cop it!

I think you will find EE that Victoria will allow fully vaccinated on course but limit the numbers.

Thats not what was indicated on After The Last last night. The guy (name escapes me) from the MRC said it had been discussed but very unlikely to be implemented for the carnival this year. Theyre talking perhaps members only, which would be fine by me for the VRC portion but suspect that may be not possible either.

Like I said though, very happy to be wrong on this one. And I would encourage one and all to pile on with all the ribbing and whatever you like if I am. I will be glad to take it! LOL

Corowa trainer Geoff Duryea saw his $1.3m The Kosciuszko (1200m) chances take a massive hit after he was forced to retire star mare News Girl due to a tendon injury.

A recurrent injury Gay.  Ouch

Hopefully her stakes-winning brother Front Page can graduate to the Kosciuszko, though he too has had significant problems.

Would just love Geoff to land a decent Stakes race before he retires.

Here's hoping his nephew has better luck this September by trying to win another premiership medal, this time at the Dogs.

Surprise Baby nowhere to be seen? I hope he is still breathing - still listed as not having a trainer on Racing.com? Any news on his status?

from racing .com dated 16th May

Surprise Baby may be on the move, but no decision has been made on where the injured stayer could be going.

The rising seven-year-old, who is currently sidelined with a hock injury, is listed on Racing Australia as being "transferred" and his co-owner John Fiteni said that a trainer had not been appointed for when the horse is ready to resume training.

"Hes still in rehab," Fiteni said of his gelding. "No decision has been made on any of that.

"He is still four months away even before I even think about putting him to work. Its a long way off.

"Its a slow process. Like I said to the vets at Ballarat. I dont want to put a time on it, I dont want to do anything.

"I just want them to tell me when hes right."

Not sure what the above means but he is one of the horses Williams brought in early rather than having to go through the scintigraphy in Ireland.

It means the vet picks the suspected leg up and bends the fetlock joint back towards the tendon sheath , then drops the leg and you trot him away to see a reaction , if the vet sees signs of " dipping " or shortness in  gait , fail, same as you bend your wrist forward applying pressure and releasing to pick up a book , some will give a reaction , just could be age or haven't warmed up.

So it is not an injury or soundness issue he may have bought with him from Ireland ?

Doubt it's a injury ( unless they have missed a bit of heat in joint in work ) may well be a bit of wear n tear on joint as not all bone structure is the same imo.

Just saw that Paths Of Glory (last horse to beat Zaaki), has been retired and he will now enjoy retirement with Rachel King.

Inspirational Girl is apparently out of the spring as well.

Seems rather dramatic for a poor blood count leading up to the Makybe Diva Stakes.

Coolmore Classic winner Krone will not be seen in the spring after a virus has forced the Tony Gollan-trained mare to head to the spelling paddock.

Raymond spells Turaath after win.

I find it staggering they have chosen that path with Turaath. She was in line for a massive bonus if she won the Myer.

I would have thought there was ample time to freshen her up for that assignment.
