Battaash the last guess for the night. Bed time the better bet probably.

How good is this to watch?! Will have to crash after Houtzen unfortunately. Multi on Blue Point, Too Darn Hot to win and Magic Wand to place.
Looking forward to seeing if Cross Counter can measure up in the Gold Cup.

Five month lead up & she’s out of the race after 30cm .. feel for Toby, but at least it was Aquis money.

Yeah so unlucky - on form wasn't going to worry them but always good to see people have a crack, and for that to happen just sucks.

R3 Blue Point / Battaash - WON  @ 5/2 fav & EXACTA

R6 Latrobe / Magic Wand - 4th and 2nd

Review:

Not a bad when you get a couple of winners. Of course they were kind of short. No matter. Kind of thought that the review of Arizona were up there and thought Blue Point had Battaash in this great renewal of the G1 King's Stand. A bit disappointed in Too Darn Hot and also in myself for eliminating O'Brien trained Circus Maximus.

I liked the run of Latrobe at odds and he will get to the winner's circle soon. Magic Wand is also a very good type. Hopefully we'll see her in the USA again soon.

You’re right, it is a great spectacle. I love the massive wide open courses. Such a wide straight that can easily accomodate 30 or more.

There are many things that make Ascot attractive but the main thing I note is the low level of advertising around the course.  It's a good look.

US trainer Wesley Ward always brings some nice youngsters to Royal Ascot. Kimari was a bit unlucky trying to lead all the way. Great race the Prince of Wales's Stakes with Dettori's ride really the difference between Crystal Ocean and Magical.

A question, we will see 2018 Melbourne Cup winner Cross Counter running in the G1 Ascot Gold Cup (4000m wfa).

How many Melbourne Cup winners from the past 25 Cups would of been good enough and/or able to run the 4000m of the Ascot Gold Cup?
Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers

Would have loved to have seen Makybe Diva take in a Gold Cup. Papineau and Westerner were the winner of her likely Gold Cup years.

Doriemus would have been an interesting contender for a Gold Cup - Classic Cliche, Celeric and Kayf Tara would have been his enemies.

Review

Dettori's day as he rode 4 winners. Caught him in the 2nd race and was pleased to get a winner for the day because I thought I was definitely going to strike out. I took Stradivarius on a saver as well since he has been so good. Not faulting Cross Counter at all who was game and if he continues his form he should make the trip Down Under once again.

Pretty astute from this bloke last night Clap

Race Comments:
30 runners take to the straight mile. VELORUM has impressed on all starts thus far and 96 could be a generous opening mark. DUBAI LEGACY was green when winning on soft ground at Doncaster and could find his best form back in testing conditions. BIOMETRIC @ $31 & $10.20 is by Bated Breath whose progeny appear to handle soft-ground and could be generously priced. DARK VISION drops into handicap company for the first time with an eye-catching jockey booking.

Wisdom has been chasing me but I've always outrun it!

Followed by Clap:

Duel-Guineas winner HERMOSA is a star, confirming her Newmarket win at The Curragh and will undoubtedly be hard to beat here. However, she was beaten on both tries on ground worse than good and there could be value in taking her on today. CASTLE LADY won the French equivalent of the Guineas, handling the heavy ground at Longchamp, with Barzalona booked she'll be sure to make Hermosa work. TWIST 'N' SHAKE gave a huge performance on her only run on soft ground at Nottingham. WATCH ME @ $26 was unlucky in the French Guineas and reopposes Castle Lady today.

Review:
A few disappointments as I thought that Friday's card would be the most profitable. Ten Sovereigns was beaten as an Even money favourite and Hermosa was beaten by the track and a wet track specialist.

Some days its just better to play the place...

It's the ultimate kiss of death race for finding a Melbourne Cup winner. If it's won the Ascot Gold Cup, look elsewhere.
