From a very fast female family, so will be interesting to see whether this colt gets over ground.

Dam a three quarter sister to Melito. Surprised he didn’t go for more at the sales.

Nice trial running good time at Canterbury Tuesday 15 Dec. Could be an improving type by SYT.

Thanks supermassive.  Thumbs Up

Won his provincial maiden last time in, then immediately thrown into the deep end at Stakes level before rounding off with a mid-week 3rd.

Pattern of racing clearly suggests 1400m or more will be his go, so let's hope his prep this time in reflects that apparent reality.

Now 4.40. Scratching of the fave (racing in the B78 earlier) certainly affecting price. A few others in the race accepted for Friday and nom’d elsewhere so field might lose a few more. Bowman booking is interesting?

The sire is having a blinder today Djebel.  I picked the dam to follow out of the sales being from the 1-n female line.  So You Think is 1-n over 13a and now back to 1-n.  Hope he can pick up a group race.  Nice to see a Stratum mare with a good winner also.  I think he has a pedigree to be a good broodmare sire but he was kind of overlooked at stud because the brilliant Sebring came in the year after he retired.

Couldn't have him as he was so disadvantaged at the weights compared with Ole Kirk, but he got the job done.

But more importantly, credit where credit's due. Djebel identified this fellow 8 months ago, started this thread, and gave him a huge push today despite his pre-post odds of as much as $34.

Great stuff djebel*.

ps he's got to get it right every now and again.  Wink

Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers

Jamal you have a warped view of thing world wide.  Yes I agree it would be lovely to see some of our horses go out and challenge the overseas imports over a distance.  But then you get overseas G1 winners having less weight that an Aussie bred G2 winner and hey how that happens I don't know.  You have horses for courses.  Hard soft you get the picture.  And todays racing has been on the whole very entertaining and that's what its all about.

Now I've seen G1 races overseas with 3 to 6 starters which have been anything but interesting.  Also seen Frankel win and that was marvellous.  You just stay on the downer slop all the time.

Exceed and Excel is on top of the sirelist in Enland.  Epaulette is in Ireland.  Doesn't mean much except they are on top of horses like Invincible Spirit and Lope de Vega, Kodiac, Dark Angel all with good amount of runners.  Sepoy is 9th with only 18 runners.  Doesn't mean much - the big runners aren't out yet but as with anything it means they are competative and that is all you can ask.

You don't have to expect Australian always to be the best.  But just accept that a good runs like Profiteer and Rocketing By today will have people feeling happy about the wins and not needing you to step in to be always the naysayer.

It just makes everyone sad that you aren't enjoying yourself.
