There should be just the one target for this fella in 2020 - The Caulfield Cup.

Mind you, I need to go back 4 or 5 generations but I’m claiming it😆

That was a ripper of a win yesterday

Could be a Caulfiekd Cup horse if good enough. Nice horse and nice win.

Railway Stakes winner Regal PowerImage: Western RacepixPerth Cup all-in favourite to skip feature

By Luke Sheehan 12 hours ago

Topweight Regal Power won't contest the Perth Cup on January 4, with connections deciding to target a Melbourne autumn prep.

The Railway Stakes winner was given the 59.5kg topweight for the $400,000 feature at Ascot on Saturday-week, but the Grant and Alana Williams-trained four-year-old has now been spelled for a bid at riches across the Nullarbor in 2020.

He was the $2.80 all-in favourite at the time of his withdrawal, with stablemate Mississippi Delta now assuming favouritism for the Group Two.

And naturally, William Pike has the ride on Mississippi Delta in the feature race, while Star Exhibit - another horse raced by leviathan owner Bob Peters - will be ridden by Peter Hall for trainer Adam Durrant.

Star Exhibit and Japanese galloper Suzuka Devious are now the joint topweights with 57.5kg, with just a 4.5kg spread down to those on the 53kg minimum

I wonder why he was entered. Good job with the weights bob! Star exhibit is almost a weighted certainty.

I think Shovhog is implying that Bob Peters picks the riders, so Pike would have been told which mount he has for the Perth Cup rather than having his choice.

I don’t follow WA racing that closely in recently years. Is Bob Peters like a Lloyd Williams type? Ie: a quasi-trainer

Pike generally has the choice.

In this case it could be different in that Hall might have been given the ride seeing as he
won the race last year and has been the fairly regular rider.

While Peters is a lot more involved than most owners he is certainly no Lloyd and I have no doubt the trainer(s) are not the figureheads. Peters definitely has the say on programming.

Just watched a replay of the G3 Northerly Stks from Ascot.

Gee this guy put in a cracking 1st up run, closed off really nicely.

Entered for both the Railway & Kingston Town Stks, based on today’s return a fruitful Perth carnival ahead for him.

Just watching replays from yesterday, confess I forgot the Kingston Town Stks was actually on!

Wish I had paid more attention & followed Regal Power after his cracking first up run.  Gee he really rattled home late to knock off the short priced stable mate!

Good to see him win another big race after his curtailed spring 2020 & autumn 2021 campaigns.

Unwanted in the market.
I had a nibble at 15s, unfortunately for a fraction of my standard bet.

Unwanted? He was second or third favourite most of the week? Although it could be argued that he was overs if you could be comfortable he could produce his best (or close to) in the race, he was worth a nibble.

Regal Power was as short as $10 and as long as $15.  Only three could run a place so he was a dead-set win to nothing each way.

Regal Power - Timeform rating of 116 for winning G1 Kingston Town Classic. Arcadia Queen is highest rated winner in the race in recent years (121 in 2018).

16th of 16 in the Aust Cup yesterday beaten 10 lens.

Put in some great performances over the years from 2019 to 2021.  But he was already regressing when with Danny O’Brien last spring & probably cooked before he even got to John Leek for this autumn campaign.

Bob Peters was quick to dispose of Superstorm.  Wonder if he’ll do the same with Regal Power & Western Empire?

Old superstar trying to recapture some form.  Maybe a glimmer of hope after todays run in the Heatherlie Hcp - finished the race off quite well.

Might be a far cry from the great days of winning Railway Stks &
All Star Miles, but still good to see the old boy get back back to the winners circle today at Caulfield, his first win for nearly 2 years Clap
