Probably would have preferred him in NZ but I hope he can get some mares all the same.

I never saw him live, but on telly he looked like a good looking horse.

It's nice that a really good mare in Picholine has a couple of live tickets in the draw, hopefully one of her boys comes through.

Let's hope that he gets a chance at stud with some decent mares. This year will be hard given the late announcement. It would be good to see a good stayer being a success at stud and the Zabeel bloodlines continuing on.

Rebel Raider Relocates
Breednet - Media Release - Friday, 20 July 2012

Multiple Group 1 winner Rebel Raider (Reset x Picholine) has been relocated to Wyndholm Park Stud, Ballarat, Victoria for the 2012 breeding season.

Dr Kim McKellar, Wyndholm Park Stud Principal stated, "Rebel Raider was a class racehorse that won at stakes level across all distances and we are excited to be standing him for the forthcoming season. He is a very well credentialled racehorse being a two years old stakes winner that had the brilliance to win at WFA level over 1,200m and the staying ability to win two Derby's.”

"He is a multiple Group 1 winner, imposing, very correct and with the looks and temperament to produce quality foals. Rebel Raider is extremely good value for breeders and with the support of the existing owners and our client base he will be well supported.”

Rebel Raider (pictured) will stand at an advertised service fee of $6,600 (GST inclusive) LFG – Free Return – Conditions Apply.

For further information please contact Rodney Rae on 0419190037.

Increase on last season and reckon there'd have to plenty of room for negotiation.  About 1/2 or 60% of the advertised fee would be about right imo, even with a (apparently conditional) LFG.

Very big horse, with unsoundness in the female family's recent produce.

That's not a knock per se.  Just suggesting that imo you'd want to send him a sound, not overly gross or tall mare.

It's hard to soar with eagles...

Cheers

reckon if your right on his fee rff, he would be as good as any,or better than some of the over priced stallions at some of the other studs , $3500 would be worth a punt with a nice mare , but consider you can get bianconi, and keep the faith for less and alike for not much more , no where i be going,

All the clatter about Australia not producing stayers - here's the chance to do something about it.  Instead the rush is to squibs like Hinchinbrook.

I like this filly... not nominated for the Oaks, but is going to start favourite (backed off the map) in the Geelong Classic today.

She hails from the same family as Pour Moi who, i'm guessing, is in NZ on the promise of doing good things with the Zabeel/Sir Tristram blood.

Probably late to stud raced in August so maybe he wasn't going to stud and then had to be retired and just served a few.  Stayer so they weren't worried about first season sire figures.

Starting to get to the "watch this space" stage.
Rockstar Rebel expected to run very well in LR at Flem Thursday
Many, many repeat breeders this year (and it is definitely not due to advertising)
Quite a few very promising three year-olds already aimed at Adelaide in May i.e. when the breed will be just starting to hit their straps.
His figures so far this season for the 9 3YO's that have raced far outshine more touted sires.

Another stakes placed horse, best value for money currently in Victoria imho , they are obviously
more 3 yo types, but with Locally Breda stayers thin on the ground , he is a no brainer for danehill
Line mares for an outcross ,progeny thus far gives confidence, wish he in qld .

He has some great 2yo types as well, however we won't see them until late Autumn through to this time next year. Am lucky enough to be involved and have a few serves available if anyone is interested.

Now 9 3YO's raced this season for 4 wnrs (1 Sw ,2 sp)  19th on 3rd season sire list. An unfair comparison really because ony 4 of 4yos have raced in total.
Best comparison is Sire of 3YO list we he sits 50th. A fair effort considering quality of broodmares.

I just re-read the statement I posted on Nov 2.

RR now has 2SW , 2Sp,   9 wnrs & 3 plcd from 17  3 YO starters  & $500K so far this season (i.e. $30 K ave per rnr)...He has had 2 2YO rnrs for 2 pl.   (Only 5 raced 4yo in total for 2w 2p)

5 Horses to race in stakes races in next 3 weeks.    May might just be his time!

Have a look at the results from the past couple of months.

A second in a G1. A couple of metro 2yo winners and older winners in town and the bush (from some moderate mares).

I think that he has a real chance.

Disclosure - I may have an interest in the sire and some progeny....

BOL with them percy1, I think he's exceeding general expectations Big smile tho' he does suit a large range of mares which has to go a long way to producing winners.
Wisdom has been chasing me but I've always outrun it!

Perhaps there is something electric with the Reset/dehere cross     Reset Sire AEI 1.39 : Dehere B/m Sire AEI 1.47:
But the mating of Reset with Dehere mares has produced:
15 mares / 17 foals/ 13 starters thus far / 10 wnrs/ 4SW   AEI 9.14

The statistics say it all  .  Although RR did something most Derby winners don't do. He later won a 1200m Gr 3   first up

Best of luck Percy1. I think he'd be doing even better if there was a proper National Hunt scene in Oz let alone better programming for young potential stayers.

Gee this fellow is not having a 2017 spring anywhere near last year. He finished 2017 with very impressive statistics (as evidenced by the Bloodhorse site) but at the moment ?????
It doesn't help with C. Lindop consistently slaughtering them. She wobbles about that much these days you would almost expect her to fall off. Sadly it looks like she has lost it. She was good.

What a shame for the staying breed.

I know it's 'just one of those things'.... but does it need to be? How close to bursting an aorta are they usually?

Surely stallions in a natural environment, running with a herd of mares, would never ever look like covering multiple mates each day, all year. God knows what they give them to keep them performing...... Look at Deep Impact and Redoutes Choice, spine/backs gone and who knows what else. Treated like machines it seems.
The amount of money the good stallions generate, they all deserve a happy relaxed retirement. Does happen, but rare
