Topic: 2026 Dead Pool
Posted By: ExceedAndExcel
Subject: 2026 Dead Pool
Date Posted: 22 Dec 2025 at 8:46pm

Ok boys and girls, it’s the 22nd of December so as they say “better late than never”…..

It’s that time of year again when the moderators brace themselves for a flurry of frivolous complaints as the thread for the 2026 version of what is indisputably the greatest competition in forum history makes its appearance. Since its humble beginnings several years ago it has grown and grown to the juggernaut we see today. The thread that was famously labeled “ghoulish” by that intellectual heavyweight Hello Sunshine/Isaac Solomon has risen to loftier heights than even the greatest of visionaries could have foreseen! Through the years this thread has continued to thrive and no doubt will continue its upward trajectory for many years to come.

And so, we begin……

Who is on the list for 2026? Which celebrities will depart us? Which will we share fond memories of? And who will take home the prize and etch their name on the Dead Pool virtual trophy for 2026?

Hall Of Fame:

2017: Saintly96

2018: Oneonesit

2019: Saintly96

2020: Brudder_A

2021: Baghdad Bob

2022: Passing Through

2023: Brudder_A

2024: 12 months on and this is still a TBA - first name advised to me takes the title

2025: TBA

With just over 1 week to go until 1 January it’s time to get your entries in. Plenty of time to pour over the form guides and work out who will be visited by the grim reaper in the next 12 months. Given my tardiness in posting this thread I’ll allow up until 7 January to get selections in.

Rules:
- List 10 people (celebrities preferably) who will kick the bucket in 2026
- No people with already known death dates (eg death row inmates) OR with pre-existing terminal illnesses where death is likely in 2026
- Death must be confirmed by a reputable source as occurring during 2026 in the location of their death

Scoring:
Correct selection = 10 points
Bonus points = 100 minus age at death (eg a 75 year old correct selections scores 100-75=25 bonus points. NOTE: If your selection is over 100 you will lose points here.

Enjoy this wonderful competition!

Yep Stayer I agree. But to honour the Monty Python legend I’ll probably have a go 😂😇

Chill mate. We are born we die. When, who knows?

It’s certainly better than having a bet on the simulated races at PubTabs, at least here we have a form guide 👍

If Biden was on your list last year, you can keep him there.

However, if you add him this year, he is null and void. Rules.

Being a smart-aleck, HG, is not cool.

Trump has longevity in his family, mother lived till 88, father into his 90's. Of course Trump is a grossly overweight, junk gobbling swine so that may take a few years off his life but on the other hand medicine has advanced a lot and he is getting the best treatment available.
I would be surprised if he carked it in the near future, maybe his Alzheimer's may get him though.

AA, I hope she saw before she died how female jockeys have taken the racing world by storm. And she played a part in that.

As a general observation, they have kinder hands, love the animal more than the result and for some that doesn’t translate into success.

For those who do have the “gift” the world is their oyster.

From memory, last year’s Vic apprentice school had one male in a cohort of 12.

More power to them.

For those that knew him, I share the sad news that the great man Len Loveday passed away yesterday.

Many years ago, I reached out to him for assistance developing my original rating system. He ended up becoming my mentor and I doubt I'd have become a successful fulltime punter

I am so sad Len has died.
I admired him so much, 1 of the few still earning living punting from his numbers. He often told me he appreciated my wife’s,
@GaiWaterhouse1
, family advice. He sent me a video of himself a fortnight ago - he knew he looked awful.  I value his memory.

Not sure you'd have thanked me had you checked my earlier posts.

But further to that:

Punting is a cutthroat caper, and a key survival rule is if you stumble on a rare favourable situation, then STFU.

But Len Loveday was so up himself he couldn't help big noting himself about his imaginary prowess.

That, among other sins, led to his punticide ~20 years back.

Well-known Broken Hill bookmaker Doug Carroll has died aged 100.

Mr Carroll is believed to be the world's oldest bookmaker, staying active in the profession up until he was 98.

Current and former racing officials from across outback NSW have fondly remembered Mr Carroll and his contributions to the industry.

Hundreds attend state funeral for Ted Egan, former NT administrator, folk musician and land rights champion

In short:

Hundreds of people have attended the state funeral of former Northern Territory administrator, musician and land rights champion Ted Egan.

Among the attendees was NT Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro, who said the late Mr Egan "helped shape the cultural and civic life of our territory".

Mr Egan was also remembered as a "loyal friend" and someone with a "genuine willingness to listen", who made "bi-cultural" contributions to the NT in his many roles.

agree Furious - if you listen to Oh Carol it stays with you the whole day!

Lots of songs do that marble.  Unfortunately not always the ones you want to go round and round in your head keeping you awake at night!

Oh feck. I was only googling him two days ago, to see how old he was...while listening to 'Bad Blood' and 'The Hungry Years'. Both number one hits.

He wrote a hell of a lot of good songs...and some silly ones too (Stupid Cupid, Run Samson Run).

I love 'Solitaire' and 'Amarillo', which were huge hits for Tony Christie.

 Sad.

 A wonderfully talented man.

Please don’t tell me Neil Sedaka was 86 ❤️ it ages me!

Back in the day and even by today’s talent…he was a talent.

I have a method for getting rid of those 'head songs' that keep you awake. I repeat the lyrics of Craig Douglas's 'Time' over and over in my head...and the irritating song magically disappears.

😂😂😂

I just interrupted Mrs Freefall’s shower and asked her how old she felt.

“Neil Sedaka just died…at 86!!”

“Yep, just heard it on the radio”. (Or in our language, ‘transistor’) 👍

The Hungry Years always resonates with me. Sometimes the journey itself is better than what you get at the end of it. Fame and money do not necessarily bring happiness and satisfaction.

 Unhappy

He also wrote Love Will Keep Us Together, for The Captain and Tennille.

Shoud've Never Let You Go, with his daughter, Dara, is also good.
