Can't find this mentioned anywhere.....absolutely terrible

Totally confused re the details though. 10 armed coppers go to serve a warrant....obvious problem child with history

Shoots 3 coppers......fatally killing 2.

Escapes on foot with his family into the bush.....10 hours later still not apprehended

Sounds like Houdini Confused

Appalling Sovereign Country wacko, ie he and like persons deny the legitimacy of government, police or judiciary etc.  And needless to say a patriarchal society with females as second class citizens.

Totally agree it's difficult to understand how he could escape with his family in tow.  Maybe the senior officers were killed or injured and the remaining plods couldn't get it together, though that's at best speculation.

I did hear it said he stole the deceased officers guns.  Not sure if correct ?  A wack job.  Charged for something about child sex assault awhile ago ??  Obviously well known to them and trouble expected , when 10 officers went there.  How could it go so wrong.Cry
Terrible loss of decent men for no reason other than some wacko living among us.

Not comparing this to the horror of the shootings but seems to display a similar, although much less xtreme attitude.

Former Port Adelaide footballer Warren Tredrea is challenging a court order to pay Channel Nine's legal costs, claiming he has paid the debt with a promissory note (an IOU) because he doesn't believe that Australian paper money or "legal tender" can be used to pay debts. He argues that the only legitimate form of payment is gold or silver coins, which he states are not currently in circulation. His position is that the promissory note, which Channel Nine rejected, discharged the debt, though this claim is being disputed in a Federal Court challenge

Classic case of social media radicalising pre existing mental illness, right wing religious ideologies find a place to nest, then you have weirdos turning into dangerous killers.

It should be made law that if you present yourself as a sovereign citizen anywhere you are detained until further notice, shackled up with other Sov Cits and made to pull out weeds and invasive plants in our parks and forests for the rest of their lives.

Very sad. It’s not that far from here and one of the poor buggers that was killed was a regular at the Moyhu Hilton.

He was about to retire in a week or two.

Sounds very odd ....the info has to be dodgy

Initial reports claiming 10 officers went to conduct a search on his house.....shoots 3 of them.....& he runs off with his family into the bush never to be seen again

Then half a day later the wife & kids turn up at a police station saying they had not been with him at all

Wouldn't the other 7 coppers have known that....considering the latest info suggests they fired at him

Bizarre to say the least !

Yes Oneone. You would think after the Qld tragedy that every police force in the country would be ultra careful in these situations.

The fact that 10 coppers attended shows they thought it could go pear shaped.

It will all come out in time.

It's a very small and frequently awful world.

Our daughter's partner retired from Vicpol as a Detective Senior Sergeant just two years ago, serving more recently in NE Vic in the area of alleged sexual offence.

He was acquainted with one of the deceased officers who worked in the same field.  And knew that the decedent had dealt with Freeman before and had formed some kind of relationship with him.

Which was why that officer in particular was front and centre in approaching Freeman's accommodation, only to be blown apart from ambush.

Sincerely hope Freeman is gut-shot when evading capture, ensuring that he suffers extraordinary pain over many hours before his ultimate demise.

Pretty scary to think there are probably a lot of "prepper" freaks like him out there in Oz who have been training themselves for years in "survival" etc. The US must have 1000s of them. Is his family with him? (Haven't had much time to catch up on news.)

I worked once with a lovely, friendly fellow who was part of an ultra "tradionalist Catholic" schismatic sect who had their own "bishops" etc. He invited me round for dinner and I went with great trepidation. After dinner with his BIG family, we went out for a smoke on the balcony (he smoked a pipe, of course - more "traditional) and he literally tried to convince me to marry any one of his daughters over the age of 12. Then he took me down into his basement (literally) and it was filled with filing cabinets full of conspiracy theory stuff he'd collated over decades... and a proud collection of guns lining the walls (before the Oz gun ban.) True story! Oh and one of his daughters was a student at the school and nearly died because he only trusted his own herbal medicines and wouldn't let her see a doctor!

Yes.  Just too sick for words isnt it.  Dont like the rules, Gov, or anything else about the country, but more than happy to live here and take the pension the Gov offers.  Talk about hypocritical.  Any fool who would follow someone like that is brain dead.
Apparently they were there to arest him on sex charges relating to a 16 year old, in the last 2 years.
Like SC , I hope they manage to shoot him and he dies slowly. Dont rush him to hospital for the tax payers,,,IE the Gov he doesnt agree with,,to patch him up.

Makes me think how long it took them to run Malcolm Naden to ground. 6/7 years .

Fished the Buckland River close to there for years.  Foot of Mt Buller, steep native forest.

Someone familiar with the area could stay hidden for any amount of time with ample water and plenty of game available, particularly with better weather on the way.

Just down the road, only 3 fatalities according to authorities.

https://monumentaustralia.org.au/themes/people/tragedy/display/119552-chinese-victims-of-buckland-riot" rel="nofollow - https://monumentaustralia.org.au/themes/people/tragedy/display/119552-chinese-victims-of-buckland-riot

The monument commemorates the Chinese settlers who were killed in the Buckland Riot in July 1857. The precise number of  fatalities is unknown.

The large community of Chinese (it was estimated to number 3000 at its peak in 1857) led to an anti-Chinese riot. Chinese fled from the area and Robert O`Hara Burke (of Burke and Wills fame), who was working as a policeman at Beechworth, was sent to the diggings to restore order. As the easy gold disappeared the town moved firstly to reef mining and later to dredging until by the early years of the twentieth century it had outlived its usefulness. The village was eventually removed.

This significant race riot has been compared to the Eureka Stockade uprising in size and intensity. Over 750 miner’s tents were destroyed, stores belonging to the Chinese were burnt down and looted and the newly erected Chinese Temple “Joss House” was reduced to ashes. Many details of this event are still debated as court records have mysteriously disappeared from the Beechworth Court House.

Detective Leading Senior Constable Neal Thompson was getting ready to clock off for the last time this week after 38 years working for Victoria Police.  He was looking forward to a new chapter, with plans to make the most of retirement doing the things he loved.

Thommo, as his friends called him, was the kind of man who was not interested in a boring, quiet retirement.  He had dreams of walking across South America, organising fishing trips up north with mates, basking in his beloved local bushland hunting deer, and working on his King Valley home.

Instead, friends gathered at the Moyhu Hotel last night to raise a scotch to a man who was respected professionally and personally, and honour a life tragically cut short.

MC41, I have a few reservations myself but thinks it’s best to wait until the official inquiries down the track. I’m sure they’ll be exhaustive and the truth will be known.

Until then? No point in theorising.

The police would be (rightly) withholding a lot of info until they find him.
Is it possible he’s long gone from the area? From the previous footage he seemed to have some supporters.
I still think he’ll do the deed to himself so he won’t have to be accountable. If they catch him, he won’t last long in prison. Unfortunately he’s not going to suffer enough for his actions.

I read somewhere, that they did a threat assessment.
They assessed that he might need to be restrained, hence the number of attending officers.
If they thought firearms was a chance, the SWAT team would have attended.

I can’t believe this guy could ever imagine himself in jail. I was so relieved to hear that the wife and kids had walked into a police station. Thought he might top himself and his family in a bunker or similar.
Now I think he’s had a car stashed somewhere, registered to someone else and he’s long gone. Possibly staying with like minded deranged extremists. How they would snicker at the amount of people deployed in his home area, trying to root him out. While he sits there, far away, soaking up the notoriety.

All I know that is around here, if a hitchhiker sticks his thumb out and is carrying what look like a set of golf clubs…I’m not picking him up.

Very interesting that the Men in Black decided against it. There must be a reason for that.

What about if the hitchhiker was carrying a bottle of fine red? Bet you’d look twice WinkLOL

Approx 25,000 of these Sovereign Citizen characters in Australia with a large number in Victoria, which has grown since COVID lockdowns. Freeman is called a prominent member.

If 10 police were ambushed by this guy and he got away, and not knowing how many are out there in this region, I would think it very prudent to exercise maximum caution lest other ambushes await.

The scum doesn't recognise governments but recognises the hundreds of thousands in disabilty payments he received.

https://www.news.com.au/national/victoria/crime/neighbours-say-dezi-freeman-claimed-disability-pension-from-centrelink-for-more-than-20-years/news-story/6f4cee1e74e454d58effcfba229e1c32

According to one neighbour, Freeman had been pocketing a disability pension from Centrelink “every week”.

“He never worked, never had any money … that’s what used to s**t me too because he was so against the government, but then got his Centrelink cheque every week,” the Myrtleford woman, who wished to remain anonymous, said to https://www.ntnews.com.au/news/victoria/dezi-freeman-has-been-on-a-disability-pension-for-more-than-20-years/news-story/cabb5b3703a24509b548a3fc0ebdca7a" rel="nofollow - The Herald Sun .

That was confirmed by an unnamed relative who told the publication the accused cop killer had received payments for the past two decades.

They did not know why he was eligible to receive the benefits – only recalling that he had complained of a sore tooth – but suggested he had mental health issues in the last few years.

Come on, for decades when people have questioned the social security system, they have been totally and utterly shut down. By the crippled left.

An article by the Award Winning Tony Wright.  No surprises here: talk about Mad *'ing Max:

Before ‘sovereign citizens’, Mel Gibson was linked to a radical group near Porepunkah

Decades before many Australians had heard the words “sovereign citizen” or imagined that  https://www.theage.com.au/national/victoria/any-doubts-of-neo-nazi-involvement-in-the-march-disappeared-when-one-man-rose-to-speak-20250831-p5mr8z.html" rel="nofollow - neo-Nazis would openly lead marches  through city streets, conspiracy theorists were busily spreading their messages around north-east Victoria, not far from the currently famous village of Porepunkah.

Among them was a fellow who would become one of the world’s best-known Hollywood actors, Mel Gibson. One late night in 1987 at a party in Wodonga, I tried to persuade Gibson that he was being used by a far-right, remorselessly antisemitic outfit named the League of Rights.

Over a six-pack of beer at that long-ago party in Wodonga, I told Gibson that if he knew what was good for him and his career, he’d run a mile from anything to do with the League and their hangers-on.  He feigned interest and said he’d look into it.

Shortly after, he went on the Nine Network’s Midday Show with Ray Martin to rave about how Australia was selling itself off to foreign interests, borrowing millions from international bankers in order to “slip a quid” to places like “Red China” and Vietnam so they could compete unfairly against Australia.

The League’s and LaRouche’s boosters must have very nearly wet themselves with glee.  Taylor got 8.2 per cent of the vote in Liberal-held Indi, or 5412 first-preference votes. A fair clutch of people, clearly, were open to a fringe message retailed by an actor.

Gibson later moved to the United States, where in 2006 he made headlines by allegedly ranting at a Los Angeles policeman while drunk that “the Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world”, and demanding of the policeman: “Are you a Jew?” He later apologised and insisted he was no antisemite.

These days, he is a hand-picked envoy of US President Donald Trump, charged with “keeping an eye” on Hollywood’s film industry to ensure it does the right thing for Trump’s America. Gibson was chosen alongside fellow Trump supporters Sylvester Stallone and Jon Voight. Surprise, surprise, surprise.

Hutton Gibson was an American conspiracy theorist, Holocaust denier, and the father of 11 children, one of whom is of course the actor and director Mel Gibson who himself has fathered 9 children. It's understood most of the 20 children were home schooled so even more wacko's are very arguably out there.

That will bring sightings by nutters out of the woodwork.
But maybe will find the money more appealing than him hiding in their back shed.
Hope so anyway.

Reckon he was hiding right under their noses in the first few days, probably had some hideaway under a shed or garage, a shallow basement type place to lay for a day or two. Could even have been a false wall or door hidden by crap they missed. He would have known dogs could sniff him out so used a chemical deterrent. These survivalists wacko's have all sorts of things they plan for read about etc..they will use when need to get away with stuff. Guarantee you he laid low right under their noses until they cleared out then made his away in the opposite direction the search went.

Carl.

NSW  police already involved as are some Forces personel.
He could be anywhere by now. Its a bloody big, wild, rough area and lots of caves and mine shafts.
Blokes with bush skills are very clever. Look how long Naden held out.  He hid in Dubbo Zoo for months before anyone spotted him.
