Hello, maby it's of interest at the same race day at Düsseldorf. One of the several prep races for the "German Derby" was a so called "Derby Trial" (Listed Race). It was won by Delgardo (Best Solution), when I went back through several generations I discovered, he is from the same damline as 'Dancing Brave'. They share the broodmare "Otra", she is the 4th dam of Dancing Brave and 7th dam of the German Trial Race Winner! Isn't it a small "breeding world". Regards, Ticino |

Hello, Diomed, many thanks for the kind words about the "German Derby winner" ceremonies. It has a very long tradion to honour the winner. The socalled "Via Triumphalis" up an down the last 100 meter of of the racetrack, the winner accompanied by 2 riders. Well, I haven't seen a ceremony like this in other racing countries Of course it was a very emotional Derby this saison, because the Owners/breeders of the winnerare small breeders. If they win such a prestigious Race is a rare event. It is an encouragement for the "small one" to carry on against all odds. I have watched the "Derby" at Hamburg twice, during the 1980's and the 150. Anniversary Derby some years ago. regards, Ticino

Hello, many thanks for your responses. Yes, it's true, more than 90% of Stallions worldwide are either descents of Northern Dancer or Mr. Prospector. The "Dark Ronald" Sire Line developed in my homecountry seems to wither, too. Of course it's a great compliment when Breeders/Studs from foreign countries purchase your Sires, but it's a great loss for your Thoroughbredbreeding. Btw, Star Appeal is another Sire tracing to Dark Ronald! Another sad news "Kämpfer" (St. Leger) was declared a non runner. He hurt himself at the Guestboxes at the racetrack at Dortmund.
