Topic: 2025 Dead Pool
Posted By: ExceedAndExcel
Subject: 2025 Dead Pool
Date Posted: 15 Dec 2024 at 11:18am

It’s that time of year again when the moderators brace themselves for a flurry of frivolous complaints as the thread for the 2025 version of what is indisputably one of the greatest competitions in forum history makes its appearance. Since its humble beginnings several years ago it has grown and grown to the juggernaut we see today. How disappointing it must be for Hello Sunshine/Isaac Solomon! From the moment she labeled it “ghoulish” its popularity has done nothing but rise! And then there’s the guy who last year was so crippled by the forum remembering the lives of those famous people who have left us that he packed up and took his toys to Italy where the lack of internet provided the ideal safe space to avoid such offensive material. Through it all, this thread has continued to thrive and no doubt will go on to reach even greater heights!

And so, we begin……

Who is on the list for 2025? Which celebrities will depart us? Which will we share fond memories of? And who will take home the prize and etch their name on the Dead Pool virtual trophy for 2025?

Hall Of Fame:

2017: Saintly96

2018: Oneonesit

2019: Saintly96

2020: Brudder_A

2021: Baghdad Bob

2022: Passing Through

2023: Brudder_A

2024: TBA

With just over two weeks to go until 1 January it’s time to get your entries in. Plenty of time to pour over the form guides and work out who will be visited by the grim reaper in the next 12 months. Entries close 11:59pm Sydney time 31 December.

Rules:
- List 10 people (celebrities preferably) who will kick the bucket in 2025
- No people with already known death dates (eg death row inmates) OR with pre-existing terminal illnesses where death is likely in 2025
- Death must be confirmed by a reputable source as occurring during 2025 in the location of their death

Scoring:
Correct selection = 10 points
Bonus points = 100 minus age at death (eg a 75 year old correct selections scores 100-75=25 bonus points. NOTE: If your selection is over 100 you will lose points here.

NOTE: Seeing as he continues to hang on I will allow Jimmy Carter this year despite the hospice care status.

Enjoy this wonderful competition!

ETA:Too easy when so clearly expressed, unlike most Thumbs Up

Joe Biden is a big chance to go quickly once he leaves the White House. Looks on his last legs already and once he doesn’t have anything to do he will quickly fade further. If not 2025 then 2026 he will be a certainly.

Just have to point out that there were a few on here saying Joe was fine even after the debate disaster and months (years?) of evidence that he was going downhill fast. What was that neo-speak term the media and press secretary used to lie to the people about videos showing Joe's declined state of health? "Cheap fake" wasn't it? That was a useful term for a couple of months. Is it even used any more?

agree that he should have kept to a one term Stayer. He probably cost the dems the election. Throwing Kamala in at the last moment was too much to ask. to only lose by 1.4% was a pretty good effort really. From what I can tell there was a 2% reduction in eligible voters voting. Possibly through the 2 choices or just that covid increased numbers last time.
The problem was some of the footage was fake also from the likes of murdochs mob trying to show Joe wandering off into wherever when really he was  heading over to speak with a serviceman. Both sides guilty there.
From my whole experience I have found that you have to work through the information providers and see who gives a balanced, sane commentary on each subject. The likes of Fox who have been found to repeated to lies of ballot machines etc etc etc and then there are the dem focused youtube clips that are there for the clicks. It is pretty simple to work out who is bullshi tting and who can report witth honesty.

That's the trouble slowdown.  I think every newsite seems to work to an agenda these days.  Bit like war time propaganda.  A little truth and a little lie and mix them altogether and what do you get.  Some pretty confused people.

Could say that truth is dead.  It is the dead pool.  It's not up to the different news channels to lead people by their noses.  They are supposed to state the facts.  Not the facts they like and leave out the others.  And that happens on all sites both left and right.  What happened to telling the news and letting people decide what they believe in.

Laughable that anyone would say he was fine after the debate. That was an embarrassment. That said, he was much different four years ago. People saying he was unintelligible four years ago are just as delusional as anyone saying there wasn’t anything wrong with him at the debate. As usual the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Thats what age does to the grey matter, Fiddles.  Back when Mum was 88 with dementia she couldnt remember 5 mins ago but could name every kid in her class at school.

One of my favourite rock bands - Whitesnake

Whitesnake guitarist John Sykes dies at 65

The British rock guitarist John Sykes, who played with Whitesnake and Thin Lizzy, has died aged 65.

In 1984, he joined Whitesnake at the invitation of founder and frontman David Coverdale, recording parts for their Slide It In album and later for their self-titled 1987 release which was a critical and commercial success.  Sykes appeared on two Whitesnake albums and co-wrote some of the band's best-known songs, including Still Of The Night and Is This Love.

A statement on his website said Sykes "passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer".

Well certainly not for absence of research Fiddles, that's for sure and certain. Particularly considering that cancer for whatever reason develops in different cells for apparently different reasons.

Find a universal cure and there's multi millions to be made.

be nice to just preserve peoples lives another 10 to 20 years you know, we work hard all our lives then get taken out by a shtty celluar growth like cancer, so cruel it really is.

I'm just annoyed at the moment as I have a nasty little growth on my face that looks very melanoma like, it's only tiny at the moment but I know what they look like by now, could be a BCC, hope so, but I am concerned and want it looked at asap. The earliest I can get into my clinic is just under 3 weeks, I'm counting the days.

If you were a surfer you'll probably have a few scares coming up at your age, fiddles. Just get anything you notice looked at ASAP and yearly whole-body checks etc. You can't see your back in a mirror.

I was a surfer all my junior years, from the time I could paddle a KFC foamy and boogie board, I lived for it, its all we did as young lads. If the surf was good school was jigged, simple. We checked every beach and headland on the mid north coast religiously for waves, we hunted waves every single day we could. There were some days when we were piling 8 of us into an old HK holden, 3 on the front bench and 5 squeezed on the back seat. All our boards stacked up high on the roof of the car, held down by the leg-ropes on shtty cheap roof racks. We'd chip in a couple of bucks for fuel each, grab a chicko and some chips at the servo and we were gone all day.

There were some days were the surf was so good that we only came in to take a quick break of a ciggie and a swig of water, we'd be soo sunburnt, red faces, bleached blonde, long ratty hair, the only sun protection being some zinc on the nose and lips. It got so bad on me one time I had big watery sun blisters all over my arms and shoulders, skin would peel off in sheets off our backs and noses. In the end I had to wear n old long sleeved skivvy with roll up neck under my spring suit to protect my arms and neck as my skin just couldn't take it anymore.

Now as as a old git, my skin is covered in scars from multiple small operations to remove sun cancers.

I've have had at least 30 minor operations to remove various sun cancers, I get a full body check up from the bottom of my feet to my scalp every 12 months now for the past 15 years, I'd be dead by now if I didn't for sure. Whenever the doctors check me over they go 'oh wow you really were out in the sun when you were young eh' ?  They see one, they se another, mark me with purple felt tips, they say oh we are going to have to cut these out, but it won't look pretty. I'm like are you serious ? do I look like I care what it looks like ?

I couldn't care less what it looks like, cut them out, make sure you don't miss/leave any in there, ( that's happened twice before )  then sew me up and keep me alive thanks.

I had half my face taken off with one operation, couldn't believe how big this one BCC got on my face/side of my head, they took loads of skin grafts off all around my neck to help seal that one up, it was around the size of a 50 cent coin. That one was 12 stitches down my neck for the grafting and other 8 running up around the side of my face, and a few others to seal up the wound.

I never in my wildest dreams ever thought I'd have something like happen to my face, it's not so bad now, I point it out to people before they stare and then when they see it they go oh wow oh yeah I see damn that's huge. But that's sun cancer, its insidious and doesn't care about your looks.

"At just 32, Abdulrahim had been the target of three murder contracts, a prison bashing, three assaults, a dozen firebombings and seven shootings. He’d already survived one attempted hit after being shot eight times, and another where he escaped a hail of 17 bullets."

A gunman pumped at least eight bullets into Abdulrahim, four of them across the chest, but he managed to drive to a local police station and survived again.

Margaret McDonald, the mother of Cranbourne-based trainer Clinton McDonald, has died aged 76.

Clinton McDonald said his mother, who was the daughter of trainer Bon Hoysted, passed away in her sleep on Sunday night.

Margaret McDonald was born into racing, with her grandfather Fred Hoysted the trainer of Rising Fast and her father preparing the great Manikato.

She married trainer Ross McDonald, who died in 2014, and was by her husband's side as he oversaw the careers of Courtza, Imposera, Tristarc and the brilliant Weekend Hussler.

Margaret McDonald was present in the training career of her son Clinton, who became a third-generation Blue Diamond winning-trainer with Hayasugi in 2024.

Some would say the brains behind that operation, I got to meet Margaret quite a lot and you wouldn't meet a nicer person, a lovely lady and could have been a champion trainer in her own right. Best wishes to Clinton and the family.
