Vale to an absolute great in Aust boxing. Back in the day I did watch Johnny and Lionel fight for their world titles in the old blurred black and white TV. They never met in the ring officially, they were really good mates, but I was present, thanks to my Dad, a sponsor of the night, at a late 60’s Police Boys Club boxing night at a venue I can’t recall. It was just to be a quiet spar, but one of them, I can’t recall who, put in a really good shot and it was on. Old man Rennie and Johnny’s corner were quick to end the exhibition. Loved them both, real gentlemen and amazing ambassadors for Aust and Aust boxing. They started an amazing resurgence for Aussie boxers on the world stage. RIP champ, maybe a quiet spar with Lionel in heaven. ✌️😉

Fammo was the best actual 'boxer' I ever saw.
