Topic: 2022 Dead Pool
Posted By: ExceedAndExcel
Subject: 2022 Dead Pool
Date Posted: 13 Dec 2021 at 3:52pm
Who is on the list for 2022? Which celebrities will depart us? Which will we share fond memories of? And most important of all, who will take home the prize and etch their name on the Dead Pool virtual trophy for 2022?

With just under three weeks to go until 1 January it’s time to get your entries in. Plenty of time to think carefully about who will be visited by the grim reaper in the next 12 months. Entries close 11:59pm Sydney time 31 December.

Rules:
- List 10 people (celebrities preferably) who will kick the bucket in 2022
- No people with already known death dates (eg death row inmates) OR with pre-existing terminal illnesses where death is likely in 2022
- Death must be confirmed by a reputable source as occurring during 2022 in the location of their death – IE Someone dying in the USA at 6am Sydney time 1 January will not count.

Scoring:
Correct selection = 10 points
Bonus points = 100 minus age at death (eg a 75 year old correct selections scores 100-75=25 bonus points. NOTE: If your selection is over 100 you will lose points here.

Prize:
I will again put up a $20 bonus bet to the winner.
Scoring to be done individually at the end of the year
I may or may not check these reported scores. Depends if I could be bothered.

Enjoy this wonderful competition!

Yes E&E - always creates interest amongst the long suffering TBV membership. ALMOST as good as your Word Association thread.

I think you could improve it further by giving daily - or at least weekly scoreboard updates. Wouldn't take you more than an hour or so a day

And further - even more so this year with the likes of JJ, Baghdad & TJ lurking around. I mean you can hardly use poor numerical skills as the reason for inflating your score when it only ever seems to go in one direction

Just for the record, I scored 30 points for this current year (unless anyone else on my list of only 8 people cark it before New Year)

I had Christopher Plummer=19 points. And Prince Pip=11 points.  Total 30.

I'll start 2022 with the remnants of last year, plus a few new additions.

 Jimmy Carter
 Christopher Lloyd
 Terence Stamp
 Clint Eastwood
 Glynis Johns
 Liza Minnelli
 Kerri-Anne Kennelly
 Jane Fonda
 William Shatner
 Donald Sutherland

Alright lets see if we can use our targeted groups to gain some points. An actor, a athlete, a royal, a politician and a musician are needed. You also need a young actor who is a chance of an overdose.

Bill Clinton
Elizabeth Regina Windsor (QE11)
Ric Flair
Clint Eastwood
Jeff Bridges
Neil Harvey
Willie Nelson (toss up between him and Loretta Lynn we will lose a older, legendary country music star this year)
Steven Segal
John Sattler
Ron Barassi

Good luck to all the players Wink

Last chance to get your selections in. Remember there are prizes ho for grabs so why not have a go. It’s looking like VSP May have secured the $20 bonus bet + Bob’s bottles of wine this for this year but it’s on again for 2022!

Here’s my tips:

Queen Elizabeth

Jimmy Carter

John Howard

The Unabomber

Bill Lawry

Gislaine Maxwell

Molly Meldrum

Mahathir Mohamed

I've been choosing Olivia Newton-John for several years now and I'm sure continues to see her doctor every day which maybe a reason she's "Dead money..."

I would have thought the very recent medical transfer indicated very significant immediate medical issues. They wouldn't be transferring unless he was in a bad way. Aren't we supposed to avoid those known to have one foot in the grave already? With the limited info available on Kaczynski the inference is that he is seriously ill right now.

the Olivia Newton-John argument has merit. Also, Jimmy Carter is looking like he's already departed.

So, it's up to you, E&E. I don't want Rocket Laver to die yet.

Like I said, I wasn’t aware of the transfer. So far it’s 2 for and 2 against the selection. If it’s still that in the morning I’ll stick with Rod Laver as a substitute.

Just read he got accidentally repeatedly stabbed backstage by about 50 guys in masks. His fellow performers that night, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent and Ice Cube, called off the show when they "became aware of the situation", then tweeted peace stuff and condolences...

Josephine Abercrombie, owner of Pin Oak Stud in Kentucky - 95

Nearly 70 stakes winners have been bred or raced by Pin Oak Stud, including classic winners in America and England and grade/group 1 stakes winners in three countries. A source of great pride for Abercrombie was racing some special homebreds, such as Eclipse champion females like Laugh and Be Merry  and Confessional  as well as top colts who went on to become successful stallions, including Peaks and Valleys  and Broken Vow.

wow. I was only watching an interview with him, yesterday. He was talking about Cary Grant, who was a good friend. This was in that article...

“They were pissed off that I was having an affair with [Shepherd],” Bogdanovich  http://www.vulture.com/2019/03/peter-bogdanovich-in-conversation.html" rel="nofollow - said  in a 2019 interview with Vulture. “I’ve seen pictures of us; I look like an arrogant, attractive guy, and she looks like a sexy girl. And we were rich and we were famous and we did movies together.

“Sometime in the mid-’70s, when we were getting terrible press, Cary Grant called me. He says, ‘Peter, will you for Christ’s sake stop telling people you’re happy? And stop telling them you’re in love.’ I said, ‘Why, Cary?’ ‘Because they’re not happy and they’re not in love.’ He was right.”

"All those who see unworthiness when they look at me and are given thereby to denying me value — to you I say, 'I'm not talking about being as good as you. I hereby declare myself better than you,'" he wrote in his memoir, The Measure of a Man, published in 2000.
But even in his prime he was criticised for being out of touch. He was called an Uncle Tom and a "million-dollar shoeshine boy". In 1967, The New York Times published Black playwright Clifford Mason's essay, "Why Does White America Love Sidney Poitier So?" Mason dismissed Poitier's films as "a schizophrenic flight from historical fact" and the actor as a pawn for the "white man's sense of what's wrong with the world."

I have just seen that Australian golfer Bob Shearer has died aged 73.

I remember a few sports events in my childhood, Dick Johnson's blue ford being stopped by a rock when he was in front at Mt Panorama, the Parramatta Eels first premiership in 1981 against Newtown, the Australian team winning the 100m freestyle relay in Moscow and of course Australia 2's win off Rhode Island against Dennis Conner, and the Australians victory over Sweden in the Davis Cup at Kooyong (the Pat Cash Michael Pernfors match is one of the best tennis matches I have ever seen), I think 1983 or 84, but Bob Shearers win in the 1982 Australian Open where he beat Jack Nicklaus with one of the best final rounds I have seen has to be right up there.

I understand his wife Kathie is the meet and greet lady at the Australian Open for all the media and players, and so I would like to send my condolences to her and the family.

One that has drawn little attention and will be on no lists but sad that the 17yo son of Sinead O'Connor chose to end his own life.
