Biden has many contacts from his years in politics, is very good at  negotiating outcomes. If Trump were in charge of the Republicans he would not allow that but he will not be. Unless of course he wins which is still possible Smile

The flip side is that not controlling the Senate(if they dont) Biden wont be dragged so far left by progressives/socialists.

Senate will be decided in January. Currently sitting at 48-47 Republican but Dems have one more won(not declared yet though) making 48-48 and one and maybe 2 Georgia Senate races will have to go to runoffs. One definitely is and in the other Perdue is on a flat but reducing 50% of the the count, down from 52.4% and if he drops below 50% a runoff is mandatory.

It will be interesting to see how the Senate Republicans behave without Trump standing over them threatening their jobs if they dont fall in line with his insanity. With enough moderate Republicans and a thin margin, there might be some common sense.

I know he doesn't and the Republican party could lurch the other way in response to Democrats shifting left, but I am not sure that will happen without the Senate.

The first few months will tell with health care and COVID relief top of the agenda. The Tea Party will not entertain either but there is an opportunity for moderate Republicans interested in a new posture post Trump to be less obstructive.

I think there are enough moderates like Romney, Collins Murkowsky who didn't have hard Trump voting records, and others for some dialogue to take place,

That is what he did with Obama, declared he would be a one term President and blocked everything, but it is a bit different this time.

He has his 6-3 SCOTUS and a couple of hundred other judges and is running defense on appointments now. Also the health care issue has dramatically changed since 2012 where the imperative was destroying Obamacare. Now over 60% of Republicans want health care and they lost House seats in 2018 on it.

COVID will not be sorted out in a hurry and it and it's health insurance implications will be major in the run to midterms in 2022. While Republicans will be defending less Senators in 2022, they will also have a slim margin if any at all.

These 2 January runoffs are critical, and could even deliver Dens the Senate which would make this discussion pointless.LOL

The 46th President? Joe Biden’s road from Scranton to the White House door

What we know about Biden’s first-day checklist

All US presidential candidates have an ambitious list of tasks they promise to accomplish on the first day of their presidency. Whether or not they can actually fit a few hours of work between their noon inauguration and the evening galas, the promised Day One agenda is filled with items of heightened importance to their electoral base. Often, they involve reversing unpopular actions of their predecessors and can be accomplished by executive order without waiting for Congress.

President-elect Joe Biden’s to-do list is particularly long. Between the items he specifically identified as day one tasks and other urgent matters, it’s likely accomplishing them all will occupy his first weeks and months in office.

Here’s some of what’s on his Day One agenda.

Combat coronavirus

Rejoin the WHO

On July 7, president Donald Trump announced that he was withdrawing the US from the World Health Organization (WHO) on the grounds that the agency was biased towards China. That same day, Joe Biden  https://twitter.com/JoeBiden/status/1280603719831359489?s=20" rel="nofollow - vowed to reverse that decision  on his first day as president. Though Trump had a point— https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/02/world/who-china-coronavirus.html" rel="nofollow - China did stymie  WHO’s early efforts to get data on Covid-19 cases—it’s clear that  https://news.un.org/en/story/2020/04/1061412" rel="nofollow - more global   https://www.nationalacademies.org/news/2020/04/the-critical-need-for-international-cooperation-during-covid-19-pandemic" rel="nofollow - coordination , not less, is the key to combating this and any future pandemics.

Federal mask mandate

Biden has said that even before inauguration, he’d reach out Dr. Anthony Fauci, the country’s top infectious disease specialist, for advice on how to combat the pandemic. One recommendation Fauci  https://www.forbes.com/sites/andrewsolender/2020/10/29/fauci-endorses-national-mask-mandate-but-concedes-its-unlikely-under-trump/?sh=5d51d663eda8" rel="nofollow - has endorsed before : make masks mandatory.

In October, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stopped just short of recommending one, instead issuing a “ https://www.cnbc.com/2020/10/20/cdc-issues-strong-recommendation-for-mask-mandate-on-airplanes-trains.html" rel="nofollow - strong recommendation ” for mask use on transportation such as planes, trains, and ride-share vehicles. Widespread use of masks could save 130,000 lives by March, according to  https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33097835/" rel="nofollow - a recent study .

Biden, who has positioned himself as a pro-science candidate,  https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/29/us/politics/trump-biden-mask-mandate.html" rel="nofollow - has already said  that he would issue an executive order requiring masks on federal property, which would include transportation as the CDC recommends. This could have a snowball effect on state and local governments that don’t already have such policies in place.

Start repairing the US’s reputation

Call up NATO

After four years of Trump’s disparagement of the military alliance and its members in public— https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-nato/nato-would-seek-early-summit-with-biden-if-elected-envoys-say-idUSKBN27514U" rel="nofollow - and threatening to withdraw from it in private —Biden said on Day One he’ll reassure the US’s allies that “ https://www.12news.com/article/news/politics/joe-biden-arizona-kpnx-interview/75-f620a93a-3e14-4165-8ce6-4b7205837390" rel="nofollow - we’re back and you can count on us again. ”

This might be the easiest task on Biden’s Day One list, since there’s a good chance that many of the leaders will either call to offer congratulations or attend his inauguration. NATO allies are eager to welcome the US back into the fold, and will  https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-election-nato/nato-would-seek-early-summit-with-biden-if-elected-envoys-say-idUSKBN27514U" rel="nofollow - schedule a summit for March  to reaffirm the US’s leadership of the alliance.

Rejoin the Paris climate accord

After a year-long waiting period, the US officially  https://qz.com/1927200/the-cost-of-the-us-leaving-the-paris-climate-agreement/" rel="nofollow - left the Paris climate agreement on Nov. 4 . While it took a while for Trump to finalize the exit, the landmark international effort to curb greenhouse gas emissions has few restrictions on countries that want to join—or re-join. Biden has promised to do so, and on Day One or soon thereafter he could submit a notice to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change that the US intends to reenter the agreement. After  https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/04/politics/us-exits-paris-climate-agreement-next-steps/index.html" rel="nofollow - a quick 30-day waiting period , the country would be back in. Up next, he’d need to file a new emissions-reduction pledge for 2030.

Keep more fossil fuels in the ground

In a July 14 speech, Biden promised that if elected, he would “reverse Trump’s rollbacks of 100 public health and environmental rules,” many accomplished (and easily undone) by no-fuss executive orders. High on the list could be rollbacks that Trump used to enable fossil fuel extraction, like orders that allowed oil and gas companies to  https://grist.org/article/trump-signs-executive-orders-fast-tracking-the-pipeline-approval-process/" rel="nofollow - speed through permitting processes  for new pipelines. Biden could also issue a number of his own executive orders to reduce extraction, like directing the Department of the Interior to halt oil and gas leases and  https://qz.com/1914793/why-is-the-biden-harris-campaign-fine-with-fracking/" rel="nofollow - fracking on federal lands .

Start restoring protections for Americans

Expand and codify ethics standards

As part of a broad effort to restore faith in the federal government, Biden will demand that all members of his administration sign an ethics “pledge,” based on an  https://obamawhitehouse.archives.gov/the-press-office/ethics-commitments-executive-branch-personnel" rel="nofollow - order  Barack Obama issued as president in 2009. The pledge requires appointees in the executive branch to refuse gifts from lobbyists. It also promises to end the revolving door of government officials becoming lobbyists (and vice versa) within two years of leaving their positions.

Though some progressives have argued Biden’s proposed ethics reforms  https://prospect.org/politics/biden-transition-ethics-pledge-washington-influence-industry/" rel="nofollow - don’t go far enough , most agree he urgently needs to rebuild the executive’s credibility following the Trump administration, which was riddled with conflicts of interest, along with credible reports of corruption.

Restore transgender students’ rights

In May 2016, Obama’s education department issued guidance that required any school receiving funds from the federal government to  https://www2.ed.gov/about/offices/list/ocr/letters/colleague-201605-title-ix-transgender.pdf" rel="nofollow - extend protections to transgender students , including allowing them to access bathrooms and locker rooms, and participate in sports based on their gender identitites. Trump and his education secretary, Betsy DeVos,  https://www.ed.gov/news/press-releases/us-secretary-education-betsy-devos-issues-statement-new-title-ix-guidance" rel="nofollow - promptly revoked  that guidance.

Biden says he’ll reinstate those protections on his first day in office and  https://joebiden.com/lgbtq-policy/" rel="nofollow - direct his education department  to “vigorously enforce and investigate violations of transgender students’ civil rights.” He’s consistently advocated for LGBT rights on the campaign trail, telling one mother with a trans daughter that he’d “ https://blogs.edweek.org/edweek/campaign-k-12/2020/10/biden-transgender-rights-students.html" rel="nofollow - flat out change the law .”

Make DACA permanent

The US Supreme Court dealt a blow to Trump’s agenda this June when it blocked the administration from ending the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA). Enacted by Obama in 2012, it shielded  https://www.factcheck.org/2018/01/daca-population-numbers/" rel="nofollow - some 700,000  young adults who were brought to the US as children and grew up in the country but did not have legal citizenship. Without that protection, they could lose the ability to work or attend school, and would become eligible for deportation.

After the court’s ruling, Biden vowed he would try to pass the protections into law. “As President, I will immediately work to make it permanent by sending a bill to Congress on day one of my Administration,” he  https://medium.com/@JoeBiden/statement-by-vice-president-joe-biden-on-the-supreme-courts-decision-in-department-of-homeland-c8db3da63682" rel="nofollow - said in a statement . He has also pledged to  https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/29/politics/biden-immigrant-children/index.html" rel="nofollow - create a task force  by executive order focused on reuniting immigrant children separated from their families at the US-Mexico border.

End the “Muslim ban”

Biden said it was “vile” for Trump to ban entry to the US from several predominately Muslim countries  https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2020/07/20/joe-biden-vows-overturn-president-trumps-vile-muslim-travel-ban/5473677002/" rel="nofollow - during a speech in July  and promised to overturn the restrictions on his first day.

The so-called Muslim ban was one of Trump’s first acts upon taking office, created through executive order. Originally it sought to restrict travelers from seven Muslim-majority countries from coming into the US for 90 days, blocked all Syrian refugees indefinitely, and barred other refugees for 120 days. But after a  https://www.aclu-wa.org/pages/timeline-muslim-ban" rel="nofollow - series of court challenges , it was altered to target entrants from six mostly Muslim countries as well as North Korea and certain officials from Venezuela. The US Supreme Court upheld that version of the ban in June 2018.

Eliminate restrictions on union workers

Biden would eliminate restrictions on federal workers unions imposed by Trump, including limiting the time workers can spend on union business. It’s part of the president-elect’s broader plan to strengthen union organizing. “The federal government  https://joebiden.com/empowerworkers/" rel="nofollow - should serve as a role model  for employers to treat their workers fairly,” it reads.

WOOOHOOOOOO..!!!! finally the fascist orange clown can be removed and the steam cleaners can begin their arduous task of removing the filth from the Whitehouse. Good riddance to Trump and all his cronies, especially Kushner, y'all are going bye bye. The voters have spoken and they spoke with their vote, out with pain lies and fear, in with peace, love and prosperity. Time to set renewals with allies, move on climate change action and the Paris accord, start with policing overhauls and less brutality. Equality for all people no matter where they are from.

Don't ever forget this greatest of great days..congrats Joe and Kamala..!!!!!!!!

Good list that, it has been circulating for months, seems that Redemption only just discovered it Shocked

Most of the listed achievements are true or partly true with a few false ones.

Guess what, who cares. Any President would have a list of achievements, some in common, some different.

Doesn't matter to me , the point is the pathetic excuse for a human being, divisive, abusive, untruthful , crooked trd has infected millions with his putrid attitude and is dragging the USA down into the morass where he exists. His childish , tantrum throwing non acceptance of a legitimite vote is simply a continuation of his putrid existence.

America needs to be rid of this cancerous growth that has inhabited the WH for 4 years

Dont know what happened with brokecell but fee seems like a terrific judge. I guess in her reported line of work she would get to know what a lowlife sleazebag looks like.

I wish President Biden the best in getting on top of Coronavirus but it looks like mission impossible to me, because unlike Victoria, there are literally millions of kissw1ts in America who see it as their patriotic duty to keep spreading.

I have NOT ONCE even joked about Biden's Dementia, despite personally seeing some sort of signs in it, as I have seen it personally with my Grandfather.

Nor did I even ever joke about Whale, as I never knew him, so I never questioned his mental stability.
He might be fine. I don't know. I hope he is okay.
I don't like him, sometimes he was funny, but I never once took aim at his mental health.

I will give you a classic example.
I LOVE TJ Mitchell on the Racing forum, but despise him on this forum.
That is just healthy banter and the way the forum should rock and roll.

He has a jab at me, but when people start making comments about a person's mental health and even suggesting a medicine, they have to be pulled up for it.

Frankly, I thought Biden's speech was nice.
I know they have cheated, but it was still a nice speech.
I can't stand Biden.
He sadly lost his son.
And I do think he has ailing mental health, but I don't joke about it.

I also believe Trump's health has declined, as you can see in 1980's, he spoke far more calmly and gently.

I have massive admiration for Trump, for how he handled so many things yet put his nation into a remarkable position.

Attacks on people's mental health, is very much wrong, in so many ways.

Anyway, back to Democrat Biden and his goal to be President, he doesn't have the Military.

They have already delivered the package to Queen Amy Coney Barrett.

The soldiers are with Trump

Suggesting otherwise is FAKE NEWS.

Military are being very very quiet.

Trump has won the election.

By the way dementia is not a mental illness.  It isn't even a disease.  It is a condition caused by diseases of the brain.  Those diseases have a pathology.

Alzheimer's is a disease of the brain.  It is one of several diseases of the brain that results in the condition we call dementia.

So all Alzheimer's results in dementia, but not all dementia results from Alzheimer's.

... and I thought Regumate was a hormone prescribed for the suppression of estrus in mares.  I don't know what it has to do with mental illness.

So what's that commie comrade Biden got in store for the oppressed?Angry

Taxes

Biden says America’s corporations and its wealthiest citizens need to pay their https://www.marketwatch.com/story/republicans-and-democrats-are-split-over-whether-estate-and-income-taxes-are-unfair-2020-08-17?mod=article_inline" rel="nofollow - “fair share” of taxes. Some well-heeled Americans have https://www.marketwatch.com/story/some-wealthy-americans-are-prepping-their-finances-for-a-possible-joe-biden-presidency-this-is-all-going-up-and-you-may-never-see-it-as-good-as-it-is-now-2020-09-16?mod=article_inline" rel="nofollow - already been planning for that scenario.

Biden is proposing to raise the income tax rate https://www.marketwatch.com/story/how-trump-and-biden-tax-policies-could-affect-your-paycheck-tax-return-investment-portfolio-and-nest-egg-2020-09-21?mod=article_inline" rel="nofollow - to 39.6% from 37% for people making over $400,000 annually. That sets the top rate back where it was during the Obama administration.

Biden would also set the https://www.marketwatch.com/story/higher-rates-for-upper-income-folks-and-a-bigger-child-credit-what-joe-bidens-tax-plan-could-mean-for-your-taxes-11599643996?mod=article_inline" rel="nofollow - corporate income tax rate at 28% , from the current 21%. The rate at the end of the Obama administration was 35%.

Biden hasn’t called for an additional “wealth tax” which was something several Democratic primary rivals to his left advocated during the primaries.

Biden wants to change the tax rules surrounding capital gains and inheritances. People making more than $1 million will have their capital gains taxed at their ordinary income rate, 39.6%, according to his plans.

The 40% estate tax would also apply a lot sooner. The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act increased the exemption level to estates below $11.4 million for individuals and $22.8 million for couples. The Trump administration law raised the exemption from $5 million and Biden says he wants to bring it back to https://joebiden.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/UNITY-TASK-FORCE-RECOMMENDATIONS.pdf" rel="nofollow - “historical norms.”

Biden could get some traction on a larger child tax credit. Trump doubled the credit to $2,000 in his tax bill and Biden called for a $4,000 credit. Speaking before the election, Sen. Rob Portman, a Republican from Ohio, said there could be https://www.marketwatch.com/story/in-a-deeply-divided-senate-theres-a-ray-of-hope-for-this-big-tax-break-for-millions-of-families-2020-10-30?mod=article_inline" rel="nofollow - bipartisan agreement on some type of expansion.

Breaking news:

Joe Biden has won Georgia and its 16 electoral votes, an extraordinary victory for Democrats who pushed to expand their electoral map through the Sun Belt.

The win by Mr Biden pads his electoral college margin of victory over President Donald Trump.

Mr Biden was declared the winner of the presidential election on November 7 after flipping Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin to the Democrats’ column.

Mr Biden now has 306 electoral votes to Mr Trump’s 232.

Trump has invited Republican legislators from Georgia to Washington to convince them to overturn the legitimate vote and declare him the winner of Georgia. It can in theory happen. In an ancient law the legislature can overturn the electors and send their own to Washington.

It appears that there are few swinging voters at all, in the US. There are regular voters, and there are sporadic voters, and the latter account for fluctuating results. It is notable that this time, that Biden's camp managed to cajole more sporadic Democrat voters into action, than Trump did with Republican voters, although both sides increased turnout somewhat. Just about everyone is rusted-on.
