That race was a joke, completely set up so she would win.

Looked like she could get caught in an awkward spot early

But then they all got out of her way and left her alone in a perfect spot for her

Waller should appear in front of the stewards after that.

What are you all talking about.  I backed Benbatl to win 5 figures. Winx was just way too good.

They just got out of her way.

There's always someone who's unhappy.  Unhappy

For some reason finding entirely elusive reasons to be just that.  Thumbs Down

If you bought into a syndication and owned 10% of D'Argento would you be happy with that?

She won.
Be happy for the horse.

We will never see this happen again.

Agree. Right horse won no doubt but if I were an owner of D’Argento I’d be filthy. Has he ever been ridden that way? Sacrificial lamb.

It’s outrageous, if I were an owner, there’d be a scene

Yes I wonder what djebel thought of that.
They would never dream of such tactics in Europe.

Enjoy her for what she is.
She could of sat 5 wide the trip and won.

I'm interested how getting Godolphin, Weir, O'Brien and the Pittmans to agree to let her win seems more logical then a horse unbeaten since the '15 autumn being to good for them again.

Stablemate is ridden against not only his pattern but the stable pattern and we get clowns posting strawmen like this when people comment on it.
Jog on.

No Pace in the race so something had to be in front.

To suggest anything untoward is plain madness.       The Worlds best middle distance performer , with 28 straight wins , was always going to beat that lot.

She was at half pace , apart from 50 m in the straight .

Accept her for being the champion she is .

Yeah mate, they all got together over a beer/wineand conspired to hand the race to the great mare.

Don't know if Aiden was present or on phone relay from Northern Island, however he was apparently supping Guinness.  As for the Middle Eastern guys, in the absence of alcohol they probably tried some Khashoggi Red.  Wink

Actually on the way nothing was coming come other than a three year old filly it was the place to be.  That is called riding to the track.  Give it a break Why oh why do you even follow racing when you can't enjoy something special and unique.

I’m not suggesting it changed the result, but if you don’t think it’s suspicious that the first time a stablemate just happens to reverse its racing pattern........

Hang on, no ones arguing she wouldn’t or shouldn’t have won. But Waller should have some questions to answer. Doubt he will.

Posted By: Smoke and Mirrors

Most definitely would’ve still won.
Just the way the race was set up for her but the stable mate.
If Dargento was mine I would be sacking Waller.
No way was he given a chance in the race, he was ridden to set it up for the mare.

Why? They announced change of tactics

No wonder Waller didn’t run The Autumn Sun. The way D’Argento set the race up, he would have been very hard to hold out carrying 7.5kgs less than Winx.

To settle closer, apparently. Looks like they had the intention of leading.

Small correction. Probably at his training base in County Tipperary in the southern part of Ireland at Ballydoyle.

I don't think he conspires much and would be pretty happy how some of his horses have been performing Down Under.

BTW I'm currently on my last assignment in my career - and its in Ireland. Was at Naas on Sunday and saw his son win.....

Cheers. Will have to come back to OZ and do some conspiring.

The horse jumped in front and was on the fence, the race had no natural leader, doesn't matter what pace he would have run at it was clear nothing showed the intent to lead him, if he tried to tug him back everyone would be screaming that he's making the horse pull despite being a leader bias and gifting the race to Winx. Ermm

Posted By: jacko1
Date Posted: 27 Oct 2018 at 7:10pm
It made sense on a leader's bias track to take an outsider to the front. Do you really think it's going to come from behind and outsprint Winx?

I don’t think anyone thought he would come from behind and beat Winx. Perhaps owners (and punters in Winx out markets, tris etc) might have expected better than a 10 L second last.

It was reported prior to the race that the stablemate would race further forward, he fired out of the barriers and nothing else wanted to be there early so what else could the jockey do? Also he set a decent pace but he hardly scorched the turf, lets face it he would never beat Winx from behind her, so this was probably his best way to pull off the upset but in reality this race was probably a class above him.

Suspect you'll find the clown when you next look in the mirror.

I doubt Dargento leading made it any easier for Winx particularly. If anything it gave Benbatl a nice run in behind the leaders. Either way she still wins.

Dargento tried something different as long shots often do on a leader biased track but just not good enough. Finished about where the market said it would, as did most runners. I don’t see the fuss.

Good place for this misbegotten thread.

ps Sneck seems to have gone missing after either overlooking or ignoring the announced pre-race change of tactics for D'Argento, or maybe busy counting the fast-food till (needless to say under strict surveillance).

And indeed not dissimilar to your nonsensical comment about Big Duke being allegedly slaughtered in the Metrop.

Funny, he was extremely ordinary before that race, didn't give a yelp during it, and has been unsurprisingly awful since.

Then why on earth was he well backed?
And why was the trainer absolutely fuming about the ride?

Ok Weir might have been fuming after the horse had a cheap but unsuccessful run in the Metrop after being 10th or 12th throughout, but what about his run in Melbourne immediately thereafter where he was beaten a half-hour in the Herbert Power?  He didn't give a yelp that day, so why would you expect much different today particularly after beating 12 and being beaten by 42 at his prior four starts?

And as for Winx being handed today's race on a platter, give us a #*! break  Wacko
