I still use the old site for my blackbook and looking at up coming fields on my IPad.
There I still get the jockeys silk colours beside each horse3.
This doesnt happen on the new site. No jock colours available.

Rather oddly, despite them showing up on the old site on my ipad and phone they do not appear on the old site on my home PC

what the hell is going onCry

Anyone else having the same issues?

I get colours on my laptop on both sites SITW. Don't use phone apps.

Wasn't aware they still did fields on the old site so thanks for the heads up. Despite giving them a wrap for the new site previously I've decided I prefer the simplicity of the old format as a first glance tool - esp wrt the weights which are buried in the detail on the new format. Started using Racing Aus instead but I'll bookmark Racenet old site now and go back to that.

For others who didn't like the change here's the URL:  http://old.racenet.com.au/" rel="nofollow - https://old.racenet.com.au/

I saw mention earlier this week of them probably headed in a subscriber only direction & sure enough Ouch
As a user of the Blackbook feature if you would like to continue obtaining access to your Blackbook or adding/making adjustments to runners, Jockeys, Trainers, Sires & Dams, from 8 February 2022 you will need to be a paying member. But don’t worry your current preferences will be retained.

Please note that if you choose not to subscribe, you will lose access to your current Blackbook on 8 February 2022, meaning you will not be able to edit or login to your Blackbook.

So now they are charging for the form guide fiddlesticks. I'm not willing to pay more to bet than I already do.
I really liked the layout and features of the racenet form guide.
This move will definitely make me bet a lot less. Any good alternatives out there?

Racenet and punters expected an avalanche of protest. The fact is that these grubs are thinking ten years ahead when most of the current disaffected punters have died off and they can manipulate their fees to suit themselves.

I use then to check the tab market.  I'll be all over the shop in the winners and roughies comp.  My roughies will be 4/1 shots instead of 15/1.  Oh well.

I couldn't agree more on all points! 1st Expertform disappeared & now Racenet whose form I was comfortable with bar some of the inane comments which they'll need to tidy up if people are paying for the service.

SKY Racing (TAB) tried for years to get subscription for SKY 2 racing on Foxtel (which basically amounted to a second subscription on top of Foxtel). Even tried slipping the odd major race / meeting onto it to try to force the issue. Gave up in the end - now free like SKY 1

So i'd suggest Racenet will struggle its arse off getting punters to subscribe. Christ - most will lose hundreds a day - but wont buy themselves a pie with sauce if they are losing. Funny lot in the main. Knew a fellow who would lose 5 to 10k on a bad day - them make his missus go to Flemington markets for groceries to save a quid LOL

Squillion good form services out there. Think TAB's offer is pretty reasonable. Its what you get used too.

As for the spuikers - na - no thanks !

Yet try watching Sky 1 and 2 plus Racing.com on Foxtel and you will have 3 unwatchable channels broadcast in a very low bitrate SD, Poxtel refuse to join the 21st century.

The deal is $19.95 each month for the analysts tips ( not much to get me to pay for there), the full career runs for a runner (do not need a horses run two years ago for the current form, unless it is to see if they handle wet or dry tracks), and for some writers articles (racenet exclusive such as Bruce Clark and Richie Callander and so for me nothing to get me to subscribe to there).

I can live with the basic form guide and the articles which are shared with the major newspapers and leave the subscription content, without missing out.

Maiden race: "Yet to break out of maiden grade after 19 attempts and wide barrier is a concern. Has not won at Albury previously. Needs the breaks."
I only noticed as it won R2 but geez, you wouldn't want to be paying for such Einstein-like revelations Unhappy

I'm always happy to give credit when it's deserved & their latest addition to the form 'legend' is to be applauded Clap (HT) standing for Home Track
About a year ago, I suggested a trained on track addition was important info that no form guide provided, unlike in the long distant past LOL They always reply & I got a 'we'll see what can be done'.
I was pleasantly surprised to see this addition a couple of days ago so who knows, I may even pull on the punting boots again Confused

I am convinced someone is trolling us all Gay3, however as a supposedly professional racing form guide, it shows a lack of reading the room.

I mean if say Roy & HG were doing saddling enclosure comments I could understand a horse who ran 6th at Tocumwal being given a "this horse got a long way back at the grand circuit of Tocumwal and flashed down the outside to be beaten 8 lengths in one of the runs of the day".

That is sarcasm at its best but a so called serious website who has links to the industry through professional writers, is not good for the website.

Racenet used to be my go-to for form online. Not the comments which were often inane, but the stats and ease of seeing previous starts. When they became “pay for play” they lost me.

And it seems they’ve got worse.

The worst part is that I check form comments of very few horses daily i.e. 4-5 excepts Sats when it may be nearer 10-15 which goes to show how commonplace these outlandish remarks are Unhappy

Whilst the Racenet errors are inexcusable it still surprises that people would continue to pay for or even consult the website, as doing so arguably amounts to a reliance on others of doubtful credibility.  As is reliance on apps provided by corporate wagering websites.

OK, before Racenet went behind the paywall I used to use them for race analysis. They were very good.

I’d buy Sportsman every weekend and they folded.

Any recommendations for free, comprehensive, online form?

Currently I’m buying Winning Post most weekends, and it’s not bad. Unfortunately doesn’t cover all of the meetings I’m interested in.

If anyone cares, the history of Winning Post is a great story. You won’t regret buying a book called “Spirit of Racing” by Ron Taylor about Fr Joe Giacobbe’s (a Catholic Priest), who started Winning Post back in 1988.

The thing I did like about Catholic Priests was they loved a drink, loved a bet and the good ones in country towns at least, mostly, were awesome.

I hope Fr Horgan, who was my RL coach as a young bloke, is happy wherever he thought his soul was going. I’m not religious but he was an outstanding man.

CROW WITH COLLAR
Of all the priests, Mrs. Marskell remembers two who will stay in her prayers.
“Dear old Father Crowe you would hear him all over the place.
“He used to come from Gulgong,” she said.
“When we met him first, my husband said, “Crowe, well that’s the first time I’ve ever seen a crow with a white ring around his neck.”
“Well, he laughed, you could hear him everywhere!
Then there is Father Horgan, ”I’ll miss Fr. Horgan, now he’s gone to Coonabarabran.
He used to come and see me every few days. He was wonderful to me.
“These are the sorts of priests we should have more of,” she confided in me.
“But today there is so much money around, the young people think of nothing else.
“You know I don’t mind the beards, but I don’t like the long hair on the boys.”
Mrs. Marskell said she watched television and was worried about all the wars.
“Wars should never happen, but it seems people are thinking nothing else,” she said.
We asked Mrs. Marskell, did she want to live to be 100, but she said she didn’t want to. “That’s too old”, she said thoughtfully https://wiki.fionasuniverse.com/Wollar-Village#footnote3" rel="nofollow - 3

Comments have gone mad on this, from one race only, field of 11. Wodonga R2

Capable of closing gamely............last start led last 800
regarded as a strong finisher.........beaten 10+ lens each of last 2 starts
A strong a finisher as they come................2nd/3rd last 800m each of last 2.
Likely to come on strong in the end ............. a vague possibility Confused

Wodonga R4, field of 9, same comments on 5 of them!
Needless to say positions in running don't back them up.

They can get off for this one. There is a missing run when the horse was DQ'd prior to running the bolded 2nd when 2nd up.

Not perfect, but not easy to manage.

Sandown 5 - 15

Came on strong when just beaten last start at Caulfield. Rise in trip and untested at this range. Has finished poorly in past runs. Place chance.
Which is it? You can't have it both ways

Finished in the middle of the pack last start at Corowa and this campaign's form has left a lot to be desired. Drops in weight. Will take a power of beating.
