I think this stallion stands in New Zealand. Anyone know much about him?

He's had only 8 runners in Australia. Five have won city races, one stakes winner and two stakes placed. All over a trip. His city winners are Unfurl, Broadside, Chequered Flag, Yogi, Parthesia. He also has a promising stayer in Ubin Thunderstruck which is favourite at Sandown today.

I have no idea how he's gone in NZ, but on his Aussie runners he could be a pretty good sire of stayers.

I assumed he'd be $8/10 but luckily looked just before the jump & was still getting the bet on after the gates opened, thankfully. I still can't believe the price knowing the breed love the wet the Weir & Childs over ground Big smile
Best tote so $30 Big smile

The Anderton family at White Robe Lodge on the NZ South Island has always had a knack of unearthing terrific staying stallions.

Mellay in the 70’s was followed by Noble Bijou in the 80’s & 90’s. More recently they’ve had Yamanin Vital, Personal Escort......and now Raise The Flag.

And the stud keeps tried & true old school stamina crosses going.

Check out Parthesia’s pedigree.....which has both Noble Bijou and Mellay.

Another Tassie 3yo feature for this stallion

Finally found the mare that I wanted to send to this stallion.  Looking forward to this breed to race initiative.

She is a young daughter of I am Invincible out of the family that produced the Melb Cup winner Prince of Penzance.

I like the scopey type she is with the more compact stallion that he is.  Also hoping that the I am Inv adds some speed as he can produce tough dour types.

Parthesia resumes her racing career tomorrow at Mount Gambier over the 1550m.
Won the TAS Oaks as a 3yo, before going on to win the Bagot on New Years Day 2018 as a 4yo. Hasn’t raced since.

Been out for a long time, now trained by Symon Wilde.

Will be keeping an eye on her.

whitt0’s comment was spot on.  Unfortunately this stallion passed away yesterday

Veteran White Robe Lodge stallion Raise The Flag has been humanely euthanised after battling health issues in recent months, aged 20.

Pedigree came to the fore as Raise The Flag proved to be a good sire of stayers and jumpers.

From 53 runners in Australia, Raise The Flag sired 36 winners and 7 stakes horses, headed by Gr.1 Sydney Cup (3200m) winner Etah James while smart stayer Ablaze topped A$800,000 in prizemoney with feature wins including the Jericho Cup (4600m) and the Grand Annual Steeplechase (5500m) at Warrnambool.

“His stats in Australia were quite outstanding with his runners to winners and stakes winners to winners,” White Robe Lodge stud manager Wayne Stewart said.

“He left a Sydney Cup winner in Etah James, Broadside won a Newcastle Gold Cup and horses like Yogi, Parthesia, Civil Disobedience, Unfurl and Chequered Flag were more than handy stayers.

“He also sired some good jumpers like Ablaze, Flying Agent, Heberite, Tommyra and Riding High.

“He was a phenomenally bred horse and he did a lot for us in terms of forging relationships with a number of Australian trainers, including Darren Weir who was an avid fan.

“Quite a few Victorian trainers including Ciaron Maher and Symon Wilde sent mares to Raise The Flag, so we were lucky to have him.”

If I was riding into battle, I'd choose one of his.

Vale Raise The Flag.
