A new company called bloodstockauction.com has just emerged, presumably in direct competition to Inglis, MM etc. Interesting concept. There is not much happening on the website yet but a quick search on the internet found this: http://vimeo.com/111599327 " rel="nofollow - http://vimeo.com/111599327  ; What do Villagers think - will it take off?

I think this is the one that has been posting pamphlets at country tracks. Hope they go well.

Bidding began today on 27 varying lots & it looks like there are 6 days until each auction ends, similar to Ebay. However, nowhere does it state the conditions, that I can find so I guess they expect commonsense to rule. http://bloodstockauction.com/current/index" rel="nofollow - http://bloodstockauction.com/current/index

Weekend Racing Updates
Two
horses that are currently being sold in Australia's first ever online
thoroughbred auction contested races over the weekend, and both won in
impressive style. SUPERCOACH (Lot 22) went to Toowoomba and won in a very fast time, while JEB'S BOY (Lot 13) won first up from a spell by an impressive 3 lengths. HARADASUN COLT(Lot 7) had his half brother contest the 3yo race at Randwick and ran a gallant 3rd, beaten less than a length.
All will be sold Tuesday night!

The last I saw was they had technical problems which I thought quite understandable but if that's true whitt0, the lowest of low I was really surprised at how well it seemed to have progressed towards 'sale day', very fair prices, great pics & presentation, in all a great concept. Disgusting

From Breednet, and yes looks like the event was sabotaged.
Initial Bloodstockauction Event Postponed
Breednet - Media Release - Wednesday, 17 December 2014
It was with much excitement and
anticipation that the team at Bloodstockauction headed into Tuesday nights final countdown.
With over 63 individual bidders
having already placed bids, high interest and level of enquiry received by
vendors and the membership number edging over 900 registered members everything
looked on track for a successful first auction.
This was until exactly 3
minutes before the first lot was due to complete when a massive demand was
placed on the server causing the site to crash. The fast acting tech team was
able bring the site back as management made the decision to set the auction
back 1 hour. With everything working as normal the auction neared the final few
minutes of the first lot, when as occurred earlier, the server crashed.
At a loss to explain the
result, the directors made the difficult but inevitable decision to postpone
the auction for 2 days.
24 hours have passed and specialists
have reviewed the data from Tuesday night and are certain that these events
were the result of a calculated and deliberate attack on the websites
infrastructure. Commonly known as a DdOS attack, the attack involves
overloading the site with requests, so much so that it cannot respond to
legitimate traffic, or responds so slowly as to be rendered essentially
unavailable. Such attacks usually lead to a server
overload. This matter is now in the hands of the police.
The
team have been in contact with all members who have placed bids to advise of
the situation, and is overwhelmed by the understanding that has been granted
even before we could advise that an attack was the cause.
As
it stands the auction will go ahead with the first lot completing at 7pm
Thursday the 18th of December with all bids that had been placed
over the last week standing. Further auctions will revert to the standard first
and third Tuesdays of each month.
On
a brighter note, Sigmund who was due to sell Tuesday night and had attracted
bids to $20,000, went to Toowoomba on Wednesday and duly saluted, winning by
2.3L.
Sigmund is still part of the auction and joins Jeb’s Boy and Supercoach as
horses who have won since the catalogue was released. News from Bloodstockauction

Disgraceful act by I could imagine one of the bigger auction houses to cut out something that can really grow legs. Hopefully they can overcome the tricky situation
|
Posted By: Gay3

Well it looks like they've managed to complete & should be chuffed with the results. Most sold with the top price $30500 for Sigmund, last start winner, 'my' Haradasun y'ling for 19750 & a lovely big rangy Reward For Effort y'ling from a Strategic mare, 1 to race/winner, only $4k
. Great fortnightly concept

Maybe, but I don’t think that they would render themselves liable for such an act. A better bet would be a hacker sympathetic to PETA / The Morons Who put The Billboard In Melbourne. Or the Russian Mafia.

Any publicity is good publicity. These issues would have drawn a lot more focus to the site. I wonder how many extra registrations they got during the delay.

I must admit I was surprised how many they managed to sell at their first auction, but then I am always surprised at how much tried horses especially geldings make at auction generally.

That is not very generous...
Do you have any evidence for that or is it just a "gut feeling"
I for 1 am pleased that there is some fresh blood out there - The main players have had there way for far to long....

I have to agree, couldn't care less who did or didn't buy what, just hope the majority of vendors & purchasers are happy. Super concept despite the sabotage

But they did provided the purchasers name. Robbie Laing VIC purchased Lot 6: Rock Paper Sissors for $8,750, after 62 bids. It even shows you the last 20 of bidders. It was a battle between bidders 6 and 7 and Robbie must have been bidder 8.
I was watching it all with interest. I think it is a great idea and signed up when they contacted me. Times are changing and we need to move along with change.

Wowsers-
In the Show Cause Notice dated 22 July 2011, Racing NSW particularised the
conduct and behaviour (the subject of the notice) alleged against Mr Barnes. It
reads as follows:
i) You failed to surrender to the Stewards of Racing NSW the
Registration document/card for the horse ZACCONI despite being issued a
direction to do so by Mr. Ray Murrihy, Racing NSW Chairman of Stewards.
...
ii) You failed to attend a steward's inquiry set for Monday 21 March
2011 despite being issued a direction to do so by My (sic) Ray Murrihy,
Racing NSW Chairman of Stewards. ...
iii) In January 2010 you sold the registered thoroughbred mare HELVIA
to licensed trainer Michelle Tucker of Cessnock, NSW for which she paid
you the sum of $7,000, the sale did not proceed as another person Mr. Les
Smith had ownership of the Horse, and you failed to repay Ms Tucker the full
$7,000 having repaid $1,000 in January 2010 and $2,500 in February 20101
leaving $3,500 outstanding. ...
iv) In February 2011 you sold the thoroughbred mare MISS DODDS
(NSW) to Mr Steve Hawkes of Mt Walker Queensland for which he paid you
the sum of $13,500 + GST, you then failed to deliver the horse to Mr Hawkes
and failed to refund the purchase price to Mr Hawkes when the sale did not
proceed. ...
A second Show Cause Notice dated 1 August 2011 alleged an additional matter
against Mr Barnes as follows:
v) In June 2011 you sold the thoroughbred mare TRACKO to
Queensland licensed Trainer Mr Neil Hocking on behalf of his client Mr Shum Rane for which you were paid in the sum of $9,500, you then failed to
deliver the horse to Mr Hocking and failed to refund the purchase price when
the sale did not proceed. ... From- http://www.racingnsw.com.au/site/_content/document/00000771-source.pdf" rel="nofollow - http://www.racingnsw.com.au/site/_content/document/00000771-source.pdf

Grey Countess should have been at least stakes placed. Still has black type win/place in her.
She is a half sister to one of my broodmares 'Second Draw' who is in foal to Lope de Vega and has a Trusting colt. Second Draw raced in black type races against the like of Folding Gear, was nosed out by Sea Lord & raced in an Oaks (upside down).
Its a nice family who is increasing with quality so not surprised the bid is that high due to her broodmare potential as well.

With due respect to Whitto it's a family that's rarely sold well, and you need to go back to Stenorette for some black type. Until this talented mare can herself win some black type she's still only a $50k job imo.
|
Posted By: whitt0
Date Posted: 06 Jan 2015 at 8:44pm
I agree to some extent SC - however I could not see her going for anything much lower than $100k. I agree with Lordy that the $150k was a lot!
She is rock hard fit, can be placed well in the city or black type. She could win the outlay this or next prep not even thinking about her broodmare value .
As for the family not selling well - what do you expect when they include Sharkbite, Gonski, Mr Greeley, Danerich, Skalato etc...it just gets worse!.........Few families will sell well with that line up. Interestingly when a well performed stallion was added (Steet Boss) - it was sold for $80k & arguably the best stallion produced multiple winner & stakes performer Oriental Ruby. A generation after Stenorette.
The family is lifting the quality a lot - Oriental Ruby has been served by Snitzel, Second Draw by Lope de Vega, Oriental to Street Boss again.
Time will tell.

How should have she been at least stakes placed when her only run at that level she was beaten over 7 lengths? The going rate for a city winning stakes placed mare off the track at the moment is about $30-$40k (unless of course the pedigree is dripping with black type) so even with the possibility of racing on with this one you'd think $40-$50k would absolutely see her out taking into account what you'd be left with if she broke down tomorrow.

Fair enough - i didn't think the valuations were so low. Seen a few go above that but maybe due to better pedigree.

Those asking about Cameron Barnes I can tell you a bit more
He took me for 5k also on a horse I bought that he never delivered (subsequently I had to rebuy the horse from the owners)
However, knowing his play with civil actions I convinced the police it was a criminal act and they eventually laid charges and arrested him.
Went to court and he was found guilty and spent some quality time 'inside' (also a suspended sentence as well so if he gets caught again it will be a much longer 'holiday')
was ordered restitution but im yet to see a dime back yet, and now he's out trading and ripping more people off.
Bloodstock auction if reading this I strongly recommend you ban his registration from your site, he has a LONG list of people he has screwed over and its only a matter of time until he finds a way to use your site to do the same Thanks Ozhawk

Pago Rock for sale tonight
http://bloodstockauction.com" rel="nofollow - http://bloodstockauction.com
Stakes winner offered at online auction
-
18 January, 2016
-
|Ben Asgari
Stakes winning sprinter https://www.racing.com/horses/pago-rock" rel="nofollow - Pago Rock has been put up for sale by co-trainer and owner https://www.racing.com/trainers/david-hayes" rel="nofollow - David Hayes , but not via the usual method.
Hayes has offered the eight-year-old for sale via an online auction which closes on Tuesday night.
The Hall of Fame trainer said the horse still has plenty of racing left in him but would be better suited in a new environment.
“He’s been a consistent old horse that’s still got more in him and I
wanted to sell him while he’s got plenty of racing left in him,” Hayes
said.
“Every preparation that I’ve had him he’s made nice money and I think
if someone buys him for the right price they’ll do well with him.
“He knows all of my tricks. Sometimes a change of environment can
stimulate these old horses, especially when they’re sound like he is.”
Pago Rock last raced when unplaced in the Christmas Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Boxing Day.
The son of Rock of Gibraltar achieved a career-highlight with a
victory in the 2013 Sir John Monash Stakes (1100m), before going on to
finish runner-up in the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes later that year and
fourth in 2014 Black Caviar Lightning Stakes at Group 1 level.
Hayes, who currently trains in partnership with his nephew Tom
Dabernig, said he has already used online auction company
bloodstockautction.com to sell a number of horses.
“We’ve decided to give it a go and I think it might be the way of the future,” he said.
“We normally sell horses at a traditional sale but I just felt those
sales are a long way away so I thought I’d give this a chance and if it
works I’ll be using it to sell more horses this way.”
Interestingly, it is not just racehorses and broodmares that can be
purchased via online auction, with 2003 Victoria Derby runner-up
Kempinsky, who has sired over 100 individual winners since retiring to
stud, also for sale.
Pago Rock had attracted 49 bids by 5.00pm Monday with his price up to
$26,000, while Kempinsky was up to 24 bids and $10,500 at the same time
with both horse’s auctions set to close on Tuesday night.

I dont like the system. They advertise a finish time for each lot but if a new high bid is entered towards the end they just keep adding time onto the auction. Their rules even state that vendors can bid on their own lots (which I know still happens at live auctions). If they are going to advertise an end time that should be it, none of this adding extra time nonsense. If the vendor has a minimum price they should put on a reserve, not have the option to advertise unreserved and then push the price with bogus bids everytime the clock is pushed back.

To this end Arrowfield Stud, one of Australia’s most successful and best known thoroughbred farms, has teamed up with http://www.bloodstockauction.com" rel="nofollow - www.bloodstockauction.com to offer 25 yearlings for unreserved sale with bidding already open, the sale to take place on Tuesday May 12.
This is the first time that Arrowfield Stud (a farm that has produced

I'll definitely be following this filly as I love the duplication of Dancing Show & that she only made $1k tonight. Redente is a very under rated, super breed to race stallion
Rising 2yo Filly by REDENTE Son of Champion sire REDOUTES CHOICE from Group 1 Winning dam STELLA CADENTE
(by CENTAINE). He is the sire of winnersRed Gucci, Redentes Edge,
Beautiful Bee, Billabong Babe, Stella the Boss, Just Stellar,Squeaky
Squirrel, Carwelkin, Aunty Elsie, etc.
Her dam DHAMMASARA (by UMATILLA) is a 2-time winning mare and dam of 1 winner TOOJAY (g. by Kaphero). 1 win at 1117 m.
From the same family as Stakes Winners THREE TROIKAS, THAMES, THREE WRENS, etc.
This well bodied filly is currently unbroken but has been well
handled, taught to lead, tie up, easy to catch and trim feet and ready
to go to the breakers.
She looks like she is going to be a good size sprinting type from a slower maturing family.

A daughter of Northeast Sheila too ! How can people be so mean as to sell off an old mare like her ? Couldnt they just give her a paddock to see her days out. 15 foals, and look how well that one looks. Breaks my heart what people do to animals.
