Some 12 grand a day Silk. Half of Australia could've given her the same advice for nothing.

It was reported that the DPP did advise her to be careful pre speech. Not sure why another warning is required.

Perhaps the DPP knew or was advised she possessed a limited span of attention?
But more likely as an implicit warning to others as well as her. Another stuff-up reduces if not kills any chance of a trial ever being held.

There was a teleconference hearing prior,
Wilkinson tried to read out her speech. The defence refused to listen to it, as getting it amended prior would deprive them the opportunity to cry foul, after.

What a total shower of sh1t this Morrison Coalition Government was:
The Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) kept secret a damning report on its own staff shortages and delays in processing compensation. Key points:
The report is now public and it shows there's a backlog of about 37,000 applications. The new Minister for Veterans Affairs Matt Keogh is promising to speed up the processing of compensation claims lodged by Australia's servicemen and women, by hiring another 500 staff at the department. Deborah Morris is a military researcher and veterans advocate who made a compensation claim through the Department of Veterans Affairs six-and-a-half years ago. Her application has still not been resolved. |

with so many rorts in our history and so few convictions they will probably all get away with it.
They were a disgrace - the captain so consumed by marketing, appearances and pork barrreling that it left him no time to govern. Or maybe it was all a cover up for his failings

The Coalition could find more than Half a Billion dollars ($500,000,000) to upgrade the War Memorial but refused to commit a fraction of that amount to assist serving and past members of our Armed Forces.

Always a feeling of anger when our returned men are treated in such a shabby way , the crowd spitting on our Viet vets on returning home and made to march through the Main Street was a dog act , whipped up by hysteria , out of sight , out of mind , it appears in the posts above .
I'm reminded of Kiplings, Tommy . O, it's Tommy this , an' Tommy that , an' Tommy go away , but it's thank you , Mr Atkins , when the band begins to play . yes, it's thank you , Mr Atkins , when the band begins to play .

NSW transport minister David Elliott called for Barilaro to “do the honourable thing”. “My very, very strong view is that he shouldn’t be going to NY and I’m pretty sure that that’s the view of the majority of people in this state,” Elliott said.

Finally worked out this industrial issue with NSW trains. Primarily about the new trains getting a guarantee guards will be needed - apparently same train have drivers only. All the other upgrade stuff is just secondary to that i think

We came back from Gosford, yesterday, on a train they probably dredged out of the fifties...
What happened to all the new ones they bought? |

What are the guards for? The little punk ass eshays you could literally pick up and boot off the train at the next station? 4ft wastes of space

Coming back from the south coast a good few years back, we witnessed a young bloke continually lean out the door of our old carriage to graffiti the side of the train. I tracked down the guard and asked him to do something before the idiot lost his head on another train or stanchion. The guard shrugged and said: "What do you want me to do about it?" The graffiti 'artist' saw what I did and came over to us, threatening to hit me if I didn't butt out. At the next station I asked the station master to have the kid removed, partly because of the threat, but mostly because my children could potentially witness something really ghastly. They held up the train until the young bloke agreed to get off. true story...my children said I embarrassed them, doing it, but sometimes you have to stand up and do the right thing. |

Riding public transport is a lottery. All the idiots ride the rails. Free loaders. Drunks. Druggies. Those just out of the nick get a free ride home. Women with dozens of kids ride free. You think of every weirdo known to man, and they ride the rails.

"At the next station I asked the station master to have the kid removed." How did you do that? I'm trying to imagine getting off a train, finding the station master, then convincing them to remove somebody from a train.

The last few times I've caught the XPT or whatever it's called now, years ago, they started off the journey at Central with a heavy announcement that drug use or bad behaviour would not be tolerated. And sure enough, cops started getting on the train at certain stops and escorting people off.

There is bugger all wrong with those new trains. Heard the Union guy yesterday about the CCTV. Not that they didn't have it - just that the video "could look grainy, & not clear". That was his headline argument. As I said - all about getting a guarantee guards well never be removed - like they have been in other countries.

Well why do you reckon PT ? Ain't half obvious. This is a much a political action pre-state election as any "real" train issue. You know these same trains are being used in other states in Australia don't you ?

We had one of those on the way from Gosford to the city, on Thursday. He attempted to get us to sit with him. We declined and sat in a facing four seat, opposite. It didn't deter him. He rattled on...at the top of his lungs... about every subject known to man, plus his life story and the fact he'd recently had an accident, so his father had taken charge of his dog. He was heading to Lithgow to retrieve the dog. He went in and out of the carriage, looking for a power point to charge his phone...after telling us he was a tech expert. Why doesn't he carry a mobile charger? Even non-tech experts know about them. When we got to Central, we were attempting to get our luggage out while masses of very rude people were pushing to get on the train...even though it didn't leave for another eleven minutes. This weird guy screamed at the top of his lungs: "Hold the door...hold the f**king door..." which frightened the bejeesus out of everyone. He then spilled mountains of rubbish onto the floor of the train. While he cleaned it up, we bolted. It's fun riding the rails...not... |
