I actually saw that done back in the day of living in the south of Good Ole USA .   Laying on of hands. Speaking in tongues. And most intriguing of all, handling rattlers like they were rubber toys.  Quite mouth dropping, seeing them fish hands full of snakes out of cardboard boxes.  Shocked
animals before people.

How good is Scomo!

Couldn’t do any electioneering in Tasmania, as he’d been in WA and it wasn’t safe....

Fortunately tho, it was safe to travel to Qld to attend the god botherers conference at our expense.

Try not to be simplistic 11.  The rebound is due to many more factors than the Coalition simply providing a fiscal stimulus

An excerpt from an Australian Financial Revue article:

Yet Australia’s economic rebound may be less of  a miracle than it appears. When federal and state governments pump in an unprecedented $300 billion of fiscal stimulus, and the Reserve Bank of Australia nails interest rates to almost zero and buys about half the new government debt on issue, it’s perhaps less surprising that the economy is blazing.

Business conditions are booming according to the National Australia Bank business survey. Exports are soaring to meet China’s insatiable demand for iron ore and other natural resources.

On the health front, the virus is under control, limiting the cost of the government’s bungled rollout of vaccines, despite the harm done to sectors dependent on international visitors.  Moreover, the world’s two largest economies, the United States and China, are humming back to life. The Biden fiscal stimulus is simply ginormous and the biggest deal for the global economy right now.

Wasn’t that a few years ago? Anyway, the correct ruling. Totally unsavoury to call him that and only reflects poorly on the perpetrator but nonetheless should not be stopping it.

It was a guy in Sydney 3 or 4 years ago wearing a sandwich board in the Eastern Suburbs calling Abbott that word but changing it. Cops fined him $500. People crowd funded his fine but he decided to challenge it not on the sentiment but on the styling of the word, and the court ruled in his favor.

Thinking about it again, I believe he was fined for offensive behavior in public but he argued that the word was offensive, not his behavior. The media reports at the time mischaracterized the ruling.

When I were a lad you would call someone you didn't like a prick but nobody uses that word any more. Now the worst thing you can be called is the word for female genitalia. Is this due to increased levels of misogyny in response to women's increased independence and economic power?

I still call annoying people 'pricks''.

Never use the 'c' word. I believe it was Rex Harrison's favourite word...

The ABC was in the news yesterday when former AG Porter, who has sued the National Carrier for defamation has applied to the court to have some of the ABCs evidence suppressed and not made public.

Federal Court hearing at 9.30 am re Christian Porter’s bid to prevent public release of the ABC’s defence. The ABC supports having all materials in the case, which are in the public interest, open to public scrutiny. Sally Neighbour

Human Headline Derryn Hinch may have been on the ball when he tweeted weeks ago that the ABC had a heap more on Porter but their lawyers stuffed it up before airing Canberra Bubble.

And finally some good news for this mob.

No, not the cash splurge largely unfunded re-election Federal Budget, but rather the demotion of the extreme right-wing ultra conservative sexist racist assh0le Eric Abetz on the Tasmanian Liberal Ticket.  Hug

Veteran Tasmanian Liberal senator Eric Abetz has suggested he is a victim of "ageism and sexism" after being demoted to third place on his party's Senate ticket.

He goes on to compare himself to Churchill and Biden who were older when they became leaders.

Despite the ABC predicting the political demise of Abetz because of his "demotion " on the Liberal 2022 Senate election ticket a few facts do not go astray.

In 2022 six of the twelve Tasmanian senators are up for re-election . Three ALP & three Liberals are up for re-election,  Jacqui Lambie and the two Green senators are not up for re-election until 2025.

If the status quo is maintained ( three ALP & three Liberals are elected )  Eric Abetz will be re-elected despite being third on the Liberal's ticket and in view of the recent re-election of the liberal state government he must have a very good chance of going back to Canberra.
