Lot 69 by hot young sire Extreme Choice brings $310k.  Not a single city winner let alone any black type whatsoever in the colt's first three removes!

Lot 127 knocked down to Laurel Oak for $450k.  The Pierata's have sold really well thus far.

So Lot 144 brings $700k.  Bidders were clearly ok with his physical presence.  Wink

Yes I should of been just following the yearlings out of mares I've picked from the sales.
Mossfun $1,650K
My True Love $550K
Modern Wonder $700K
Joyful Journey $440K
Moonlight Waltz $425K
Meadow $260
and New Wings $300K
Moss Trip was passed in but looked nice
Modern Wonder was out of Elusive Wonder which was the one I picked originally.  Same with Joyful Journey's dam Joy of Flight
While Moonlight Waltz goes back to Kilmarie the original pick but it's been very prolific following her family

As I picked Pageantry out back from her 2014 crop of I am Invincible along with Houtzen and Invincible Star it will be interesting to see how her yearling goes.

We're in one!  Lot 196, a filly by Magna Grecia from the stakes-placed Obsidian Dragon.  She's a half to the Gp 2 winner Seradess and multiple stakes placed Rose Quartz.  Passed in for just $70k before being later secured by private offer.

Bit of a story here.  The moment she was passed in contacted MM and asked to be notified in the event she was later sold.  Still haven't heard from them.  Dead

But also was quick to call Chris Watson, General Manager at Mill Park which offered her.  "Just sold her to Henry Dwyer.  She's on the small side but no faults and had excellent scope and X-rays".  Said the breeder was disappointed with the price but needed to meet the market.

So immediately on to Henry.  "Wasn't on my list because I thought she might bring close to $200k, so at that price couldn't resist".  And said I had first dibs for a share, costings to follow by email.

Another day, another mouth to feed.  Smile  Wink

Good value. Smallish, but that's not a fault. As George Smith used to say "plenty of small horses win races". If she was raised on Mill Park that's a huge plus. I think Ballroom Babe (HD's dam) was a small filly(happy to be corrected), but a really good racehorse. She's got some of her genes.
Your filly is from a filly producing family, another plus. Dam & granddam won multiple races, another plus. Soundness should be valued, thats a plus.
I hope you get a share.

I like her too, beautiful balance & athletic & as I get on well with Kate, his foreman, can keeps tabs on her from time to time Tongue if that's ok.
Small fillies is never a disadvantage imo, another won the 1st race at Sandown last week, Godolphin/Freedman.

It takes a wise man a lifetime to grow a tree and a fool five minutes to kill one.

I am baffled by the $1m plus I Am Invincible colts. Lot 417 bought by Coolmore for $1.6m  is a case in point. Hinchinbrook, Dash for Cash & Brocco. Not broodmare sires of note. The colt has nose only his mother would love. Very much a Brocco snout. Short coupled. Might get 1100m at a stretch. Vinnie has yet to produce a G1 winning male 2yo from 1500 foals and 84 stakes winners. Can someone explain the chase for the elusive golden goose?

I have been surprisingly impressed by the Exceedance yearlings. Well put together, clean bone, good attitudes and easy on the eye. Other thoughts?

I did enjoy the Andresz article on Racenet.
His yearling selection criteria is rigorous. I reckon the 'Loves Frank Sinatra' criterion is probably key. Everyone needs an edge, and this is his. Good luck to him and it was fun to see. I'm guessing he uses 'Loverly' from My Fair Lady.

The Exceedances have sold both well and not so well, but haven't really looked at them from a type perspective.

How can an undischarged bankrupt keep purchasing horses?

As I mentioned above Goldey, I am a fan of Magna Grecia. The one I picked out in Day 1's lots was bought by Gerald Ryan, so that says something.
Your one looks great to me (I'm no expert on type) --a little small but that does not mean anything, Hyperion and Northern Dancer were not big !!

I have just seen my favourite of the vastly expensive colts. Lot 477. another for Yulong. $950k, but compared to his big dollar peers, infinitley better athlete to my eye.

Today is Pumpkin Day. Four million dollar boyz and it's only lunchtime. I love days like this when money is not something talked about in polite society.
The stats do not loook kindly on million dollar colts.

They have always been lovely yearlings TJ but the quality of this last book of mares has sent them through the roof!

Will be interesting to see how the daughters go at stud.  Some nice types out of them at this sale also without bringing that extra amount.

Back in his first year I found Illustrious Lad for $40K and Voodoo Lad for $36K.  You just can't get that price anymore - for anything at a major sale let alone a I am Invincible.
