Not trying to hog the discussion Marble, so i hope ya don't mind my input, which is no better than any others opinions which are valued as well, as everyone has one, As I said to SC, I dont usually do the girl in the catalogues unless we are after a  Broodie, but anyway, here's my take on a very nice filly with a heap of scope.

Strong sprint and miler influences from Snitzel are balanced by stamina and class from Hiyaam (by High Chaparral). The dosage profile favours distances of 1200m to 1600m, with some capacity to stretch to 2000m. The Pedigree Profile figures reflect a well-rounded athlete, suggesting both speed and resilience. The index value indicates a bias towards speed, yet not at the expense of versatility. This filly is well suited to metropolitan and group company, with genuine black-type potential and a credible chance of progressing to G1 level, particularly at a mile.

Synopsis of Findings

Lot 351 presents an appealing mix of speed and stamina, courtesy of her sire Snitzel and her Group One-winning dam Hiyaam. The Vuillier Dosage reveals a strong inclination towards sprint and mile distances, supported by the Pedigree Profile which shows a balance between precocity and staying power. The index figure of  suggests optimum performance between 1200m and 1600m, with the potential to handle up to 2000m if conditions suit. This filly’s pedigree and analytical profile indicate suitability for group-level racing, including G1 contests, especially at a mile. She rates an 8 out of 10 overall, representing a prime opportunity for buyers seeking a filly with both speed and the class to compete at the highest levels.

It's not the outside but the inside where the motor comes from.  She still made $300,000 so must of walked well or something!

I'm not good at picking Zoustars anyway but I do like 815 but then I picked Aristia from the 2nd dam and have had some pretty good winners from this female line.

Anyone got a comment on the Hitotsu yearlings. They do not seem to be selling that well but I think a few look quite good. Or is it simply that buyers think they might take time?

Breeder, maybe it's just not the sale for a bloke like him.  Though that said I haven't looked up the pedigrees of those offered so far.
However did look up Lot 34, a half to last year's VRC Oaks placegetter After Summer.  Perhaps somewhat immature and upright in the pasterns however reckon she was still a very nice buy at $200k.

I've marked lot 8 to follow out of the Black Swan female line and the dam not a great producer so it's just hoping that the good blood comes through finally.  $70K to M Dunn so hopefully will get a chance.

She went through the ring mate. On the small side and despite her pedigree physically presented more like a sprinter/miler than the staying type you'd expect.

And as Breeder suggested as a generality, $100k was rather less than what you'd expect given the strength of her pedigree.

without running HIM through, on initial figures I had it pegged as you said (sprinter miler) with the dosage, profile and index all saying the same, with a solid closing index, Portelli has got it, knows the fam, as it's 1/2 is  Verona Rose, and i dont think she is all that big, His Dam Minamya has much the same dosage and profile (prob through Makfi and Dubawi influence) Mandistana much stouter with enough speed to win @ 2 (late) and competitive group company to 2400m

Had Cheryl do the driving through the danger zone on the way up. Clear road ahead and she was exceeding the speed limit.

At one point and with prior knowledge suggested that about 15 or so kms ahead there'll almost certainly be a disguised vehicle parked on the right side verge, and indeed there was.  So she pulled back from 110 to 100 when with keen long-sight I pointed the vehicle out, she was home free, and gave me a big thumbs up.  Tongue

PS: still can't find the frigging cruise control.

Pedigree Analysis and G1 Potential Assessment: 2026 Magic Millions Gold Coast Sale

This analysis evaluates the pedigrees of selected lots from the last Day of 2026 Magic Millions Gold Coast sale, and is my opinion, based by using Vuillier Dosage, Pedigree profiles, and Pedigree Index data for each horse, sire, and dam. Each lot is ranked by Group potential, factoring in optimum race distances and Group potential ratings drawn from the provided reference tables. The summary table below presents a structured comparison, followed by key observations on pedigree trends and standouts. This analysis, ranks each lot by actual pedigree presences  in the pedigree grid, and not always on produce records. Always do the visuals, and get any associated veterinary information

           LOT               OPTIMUM DIST                                                    Synopsis

1220

   1200–1400

Exceptional balance of speed and stamina, strong Group sprint pedigree, sire and dam both proven at elite level. Highly rated for early maturity and Group racing success.

1215

   1200–1400

Pedigree strongly supports elite sprinting, with outstanding dosage and closing speed. Sire line known for G1 winners, excellent Group potential.

1208

   1200–2000

Strong blend of sprint and mile capabilities, balanced dosage profile, and proven G1 sires in pedigree, in fact all sires in the 3 gen grid have produced G1 winners Versatile, with high-level Group potential. May stay with Maturity

1185

  1200– 2000

Excellent speed profile, with strong maternal influence for stamina. Pedigree index supports Group sprint and mile race potential, and because of SYT as Maternal Gsire, potential for stamina intensive races improve with Maturity

1149

   1200–2000

Pedigree indicates reliable speed and stamina combination, with proven SW performance in close relatives.

1135

    1300– 2000

Balanced dosage and pedigree profile, slightly less explosive but consistent. Pedigree index supports Group class at mile distances, potential for further

1131

    1300–2000

Good balance of speed and stamina, with Group potential at sprint/mile range. Sire line solid

1117

   1400– 2000

Solid Profile and dosage values, best suited for mile distances. Pedigree suggests steady improvement with maturity. May get 2000m

1115

   1400–2000

Stamina slightly outweighs speed, making this lot well suited for classic mile events. Group potential present.

Nothing says cruise control on ours.  You have to find a flat silver button on the side column and flick thru about 10 options to find CC.  Or read the on line manual.  Only taken me approx 4 years to work it out CryEmbarrassed

Hello Take 2
I've only ever had a passing interest in your work or more a cursory glance

HOWEVER I've just noticed your very important comment "always do the visuals"

For me the "eye-ometer" is the most important tool in yearling selection & a compulsory first step.
Granted it takes many years experience to acquire an eye-ometer but mine has never let me down.
Another city winning yearling sale purchase today.

Systems/statistics/graphs/pedigree analysis or whatever only become useful after "the grain is sorted from the chaff"

However in saying all of the above I do appreciate your work & input to this forum. I wish there were more like you. There were some very good contributors on the "Irish Bloodstock Forum" but this site seems to have disappeared.
So in conclusion keep up the good work

rom Glencoe " I've only ever had a passing interest in your work or more a cursory glance", HOWEVER I've just noticed your very important comment "always do the visuals"                                                Thanks for the encouragement Glencoe, what I do is based on the Aga Khan /JJ Vuillier's, methodology as close as a layman can get i reckon, and as you say the Visuals, really are the be and end all, one can do. whatever pedigree analysis methodology one aspires to, is really designed, to whet ones appetite for more knowledge on the subject in question, as long as the methodology is sound, the subject usually warrants the close inspection, and perusal of available veterinary records. This is very obvious in the excellent Video "A Game of Chess with Nature" put out by aga khan studs, where Himself and close advisors ( increasingly Mme Germaine Vuillier, who was his principal advisor till he day she died) like clockwork, inspecting and making notes on the progress of the stock, from Birth to sale day or the Racetrack, illustrate  that a systematic approach to most tasks usually delivers desired outcomes. As an aside, it is obvious that when inspecting their foals, their Farrier is always in attendance, making notes about EVERY Foal, and how it walks and stands, for further references for later in life, corrective Farriery is always available to help nature do it's work, especially working with young supple bones, and as always, everything takes time and patience, which usually pays off in the end. The Aga Khan studs are renowned for the quality, and Bone of their stock, which is what we try to emulate

These words from Mme Germaine Vuillier, reinforce your comments too Glencoe                                  "Germaine Vuillier, the influential breeding manager for the Aga Khan's stables, formulated a theory that likened the Thoroughbred to a mechanical engine, where specific physical attributes acted as the "motor" and "mechanism":

  • The Motor (Heart and Lungs):
Vuillier described the heart and lungs as the "motor" of the Thoroughbred. She believed that the efficiency and power of this internal system were the primary drivers of a horse's racing ability.
  • The Mechanism (Conformation): The "mechanism" referred to the horse's physical frame and limbs—the external structure through which the power of the motor was expressed. Vuillier argued that even the most powerful motor was useless if the mechanism (the limbs and skeletal structure) was faulty or lacked the proper proportions to translate that power into speed.
Vuillier’s approach was rooted in a scientific, genealogical method often referred to as the Vuillier Dosage System. This system aimed to create "dosage" levels of certain foundation sires (primarily Herod) to achieve a perfect balance in both the "motor" and the "mechanism" of the offspring  " (google) the following is a wee bit off topic, but maintains the general thrust of the latter part of this thread  " Herod is a central figure in modern DNA research and genetic conjecture concerning Thoroughbred breeding, both for his historical influence and for specific recent scientific findings:

  • Athletic Ability Correlation: Scientific research has identified that inbreeding to Herod (born 1758) has a unique correlation with increased athletic ability in modern descendants. While general inbreeding often reduces performance, specific genetic contributions from Herod's line appear to have positively influenced the racing traits of the breed.
  • Highest Genetic Contribution: Despite the dominance of the Eclipse (Darley Arabian) sire line in terms of modern male-line descent (tail-male), DNA and pedigree studies show that Herod typically contributes a higher overall percentage of blood to the modern Thoroughbred than any other foundation sire.
  • Y-Chromosome Lineage: Herod is the primary horse responsible for the survival of the Byerley Turk male line. Modern Y-chromosome analysis shows that this specific haplogroup (Tb-oB1*) is distinct from the Darley Arabian line and is closely linked to Turkoman (Akhal-Teke) ancestry rather than pure Arabian roots.
  • The "Lost" Sire Line Conjecture: There is significant concern among geneticists regarding the near-extinction of Herod’s direct male line in North America and Europe. While his DNA is omnipresent in the general genome (autosomal DNA), the loss of his specific Y-chromosome line represents a decrease in the breed's overall genetic diversity.
  • Ancestral Influence on Elite Performers: Pedigree analysts frequently link Herod’s influence to modern "superhorses." For example, research into the ancestry of the great mare Winx found significant inbreeding to Herod-derived strains in her foundation pedigree, which some theorists believe acts as a "trigger" for superior performance" (google)
