This thread can trash his new stable. His stable has been split up with Danny O Brown having two of Lloyd runners today for 2 winners.

You can tell that this is going to wield results with an Adelaide Cup as a return already.

Interesting to note Lloyd on the radio a few months back said we needed more long distance races. The person intervieeing him said well theres the adelaide cup l... he didn't realise the Adelaide Cup was 3200. Sounded surprised when he was told on radio... . Brings King of Leogrance and smashes them...

What was Hickmott doing?

Wasn't Hickmott already replaced by Howley at that point?

My read: O'Brien can train stayers better than Williams.

Yes that was the problem... Lloyd was saying how his methods are old school he likes to walk them on hard roads to strengthen tendons etc..

No wonder most of 'his' horses were absolutely nowhere near it, other than Almandin and Green Moon...

The imports always looked amazing, but they were the once that had just arrived

I bet you not as many horses break down under O’Briens care as well.

The 2 major 3200 races run this season both won by O'Brien trained horses with only 2 prep runs under their belt. Fair effort.

Lloyd couldn’t really have many but many locally trained horses left, with a quite a few like Exemplar, Sir Isaac Newton, Spanish Point & US Army Ranger having been sold.

Would be interesting to see exactly where horses he’s kept have ended up:

King of Leogrance - Danny O’Brien
War Tiger - Danny O’Brien
Venice Beach - Danny O’Brien
Nelson - Danny O’Brien
Homesman - Anthony Freedman

Any word on Johannes Vermeer??

Listed a spelling on Racing Australia with Liam Howley still listed as trainer, probably an indication he's finished?

Any chance we see Yucatan back here?

A couple of Lloyd’s 2019 Melb Cup runners are in action in Ireland this weekend.

Latrobe runs tonight in the Moorsbridge Stks 2100m

Twilight Payment in the Levmoss Stks 2400m on Sunday

Not sure where Master of Reality is but apparently Yucatan & Rekindling are back in work with the O’Briens in Ireland.

Notice Lloyd’s offloading a few on the current Inglis Digital auction.

Venice Beach, Spanish Steps & Sir Edwin Landseer - all by Galileo.

Baritone - by Camelot.

Will be interesting to see where they all end up.  Venice Beach was very well performed in the UK & France as a 3yo and put in some nice runs here in Aust a few Springs ago.  I assume he pulled up with issues after the Aust Cup in March.

VENICE BEACH
Venice beach was diagnosed with a right hind and right fore suspensory ligament desmitis in March 2020. Since his injury the stallion has been treated with shockwave therapy and controlled movement. He is trotting with a mild right hind and right forelimb lameness that has so far exceeded expectations considering it is only early on in the healing process.
Venice beach is ready to resume a rehabilitation program of graduated exercise to continue the healing of the ligaments. He is still in the healing process of the injury but if given the right conditions and expertise will be able to get back to the races.
Venice Beach scopes with a normal structure of his larynx/pharynx.

SIR EDWIN LANSEER
This gelding fractured his right fore metacarpus in March 2019 and has had it surgically repaired at this time. He has been allowed more than sufficient time to heal. He has been maintained on anti-arthritic medications since the injury and undergoes routine physiotherapy on the fetlock joint to maintain a good range of motion. Routine radiographic, clinical and lameness evaluations have been performed during his rehabilitation giving us confidence that he has completely healed.
In his most recent clinical and radiographic examination performed today, this gelding is trotting near sound with a minor reduced stride on the right fore associated with some arthritis that is secondary to the fracture. Radiographs of the fetlock joint show full resolution of the fracture and confirm osteoarthritis of the fetlock joint. The gelding is ready to resume pre training and has a very good prognosis for a return to racing.
This gelding hasn’t performed any significant work since the injury, but we have never had a report of an abnormal respiratory noise and there is normal structure identified on endoscopic examination.
Should there be any questions regarding this report or examination, please do not hesitate to contact me via the details provided below.

SPANISH STEPS
Spanish Steps was diagnosed with a longitudinal tear in his left fore deep digital flexor tendon back in October 2019. He was sent for surgery and had the lesion debrided. The tendon sheath itself has been medicated since surgery with platelet rich plasma in combination with routine shockwave therapy during his rehabilitation.
In his most recent clinical and ultrasonographic examination performed today the gelding was trotting sound. The tendon sheath effusion is significantly reduced since prior to surgery and there is excellent healing of the lesion and a settled tendon sheath synovium seen on ultrasound. He is ready to resume pre training and has a good prognosis for a return to the races in 2020.
Spanish steps scopes with a normal functioning larynx/pharynx and works with a normal respiratory noise. There is no other relevant veterinary history

Baritone

Buyer Kendrick Racing $35,000

Baritone was diagnosed with a right fore proximal suspensory ligament injury in September 2019. We elected to stop on the gelding and give the injury the time required to heal. Platelet rich plasma in combination with routine shockwave therapy has been used in his rehabilitation program.
His most recent clinical and ultrasonographic examination performed today was excellent with the gelding trotting up sound with no pain on palpation of the ligament. He is ready to begin a pre training and has a very good prognosis for a return to the races before the end of 2020.
He has otherwise been a straight-forward horse with a structurally normal larynx/pharynx and works with a normal respiratory noise. There is no other relevant veterinary history.

Thanks SD for posting all the detail on Lloyd’s castoffs that went under the hammer last week.  Looks like a bunch of broken down crocks.  Hopefully the new connections can patch them up & get them racing again.

As for Lloyds current team, Twilight Paynent & Master of Reality both go around in the Vintage Crop Stakes 2800m

Buckhurst wins the the G3 Alleged Stakes for Lloyd defeating the disappointing Sir Dragonet. However, it was a three horse race which Buckhurst led & turned it into a sprint home which probably didn't suit Sir Dragonet.

Twilight Payment won the Vintage Crop and if he shows up at Flemington on the first Tuesday in November he is definitely one I will be having a few sheckels on after his pace making work and 11th last year.

Apparently Lloyd is going to reopen Macedon this spring. Going to hire a private trainer to look after 7 OBrien horses that are coming out.  Apparently all the spring imports this year need to go to local stables as travelling staff won’t be permitted
