I remember him well, met him a few times. Not my favorite kind of person but never pretended to be something he wasn't.

Therefore would never had survived in this wokey world.
Or, it is his lack of morals that led to wokeness.....

MMMM , I met him too, when he was PM, and thought even way back then, he was sleazy.   Cant see as Barnaby is any worse than he was.

  • The man takes $100 from the register. He then gives the $100 back to the owner when he pays for the goods. But, the owner has then lost $70 worth of goods. The owner also loses $30 when he gives the man his change.
  • $70 worth of goods + $30 change = $100

If he / she was shopping at Wollies, the store lost $30 plus the cost of the goods. The way Woollies mark up, they nearly broke square on the deal.

Yes - however the $70 worth of goods is only worth say $40 at cost - so the store is out of pocket only $30 + $40 = $70 (approx)

He would have got $70 for it had he been able to sell it to anyone else. So it is $70 he has foregone plus the $30 cash he gave in change.

He hasn't realised the sale until it happens. Stock in a warehouse is not valued at its retail value - its cost into the warehouse. No different in a shop. To replace it it will be cost.

Your assuming its a lost sale. That would only be the case if it was one out & the customer didn't look for an alternative purchase.

He lost the 100 to start with, then loses the goods, that's 170 and also gives him another 30 in change.

Yeah but he got the original $100 handed back to him in exchange for the goods and the change, so the guy walked out with $30 in cash and $70 in goods, as wunwun pointed out his true loss is less than $100 but the loss on the books would be written down as $70 worth of goods and $30 cash.

Crikey there's some dodgy arguments being brought forth in this interesting little discussion. Anyone would think they'd come from the likes of, er, Liberals/Nats in Opposition.  Embarrassed  Tongue

So be it Bob.  But this stuff simply continues to stuff up the already discredited Liberal brand in Vic where the Liberal candidate for Dan's old electorate could only scrape up a miserable 22% of the primary vote.
