I you watched the ABC coverage, you'd know the Libs had a worse percentage of LOST VOTES...
but you were too busy watching the Pinky Panthers thrash the chooks...and enjoying JWH being binned. |

I'll leave that to PT. I've got to pack an overnight bag to go to The Darling for the night. And I've also got over twenty messages from fans on my fb page... far more important than arguing with the uninformed. ![]() |

Fact - more Australians voted for the LNP as their first choice than the ALP. 36 people per 100 vs 32 people per 100. BOTH parties lost a gelatiload of primary votes

The Tories determination not to have an integrity agency cost them a lot of Tory votes. Real conservatives are not into corruption and rorts.

I've been driving past dozens of Josh and Monique posters for 2 months and never even knew what Monique stood for or who she was affiliated with. I've only just heard in the 6 o'clock news that she stood for "climate change and gender equality." Apparently because they were the 2 stand-out issues among the folks she visited around Kew/ Hawthorn etc. Deary me. The Lucky Country indeed.
I and others will scoff and shake our heads, but how on earth are the major parties going to stay relevant and/ or run a country when so many people's votes are influenced by such nebulous issues? I guess it'll be a matter of doing as little as possible for a few years while sounding nice, and waiting for people to care about other stuff again? That's my expert political analysis. ![]() |

I was wondering about Dan myself as he & Angus Taylor have been mentioned as possibles. Dan Tehan is a country boy at heart and is passionate about representing the people of Wannon.Dan grew up on a family farm in rural Victoria, with his three brothers and two sisters. His father ran Merino sheep and Hereford cattle while his mother started her own small business in a nearby town to earn off-farm income. From an early age, Dan’s parents and grandparents taught him that people in rural communities deserve a fair go and that you need to be prepared to stand up and fight for what you believe in. Dan’s mother represented rural Victoria in our State Parliament, his father was actively involved in the Victorian Farmers Federation, and his grandfather helped form the National Farmers’ Federation. Dan’s education, personal experience and career have given him a real understanding of the needs of people living in our region. Importantly, it has also taught him how to get the action to address these needs. His education at a country primary school and high school taught him the importance of attracting and retaining the best teachers in our local schools. His Honours Degree at Melbourne University and Master’s Degree in Foreign Affairs and Trade at Monash University highlighted the importance of country students having access to an independent youth allowance that enables them to afford tertiary education. In between school and university, Dan spent a year working as a farmhand, witnessing first-hand the detrimental impact of the Hawke/Keating Government’s high-interest-rate policy of country Australia. Dan’s career has always been involved in achieving outcomes for rural and regional communities. As a diplomat, Senior Adviser to the Deputy Prime Minister and Chief of Staff to the Minister for Small Business and Tourism he worked on real issues that have a direct impact on our communities: like reducing the level of regulation on small business, assisting farmers to sell their goods overseas and improving the standard of mobile phone and internet services in country areas. Dan was sworn in as Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment on 22 December 2020. Mr Tehan served as Minister for Education from 28 August 2018. Prior to this, he was the Minister for Social Services, and preceding this, the Minister for Veterans’ Affairs, Minister for Defence Personnel, Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for Cyber Security and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Centenary of Anzac. Mr Tehan was elected to Federal Parliament in 2010 and has held positions including as the Chair of the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security; Co-Chair of the Parliamentary Friends of Youth Mental Health, and; Chair of the Coalition Friends of Tourism. https://www.angustaylor.com.au/about-angus Angus was elected to the Federal parliament in September 2013 as the Member for Hume. Following the 2019 federal election, he was appointed Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction. Prior to entering parliament, Angus was a Director at Port Jackson Partners, where he was a strategy and business advisor on the resources, agriculture, energy and infrastructure sectors. Before this, he was a partner at global consulting firm McKinsey & Co. Angus has a Bachelor of Economics (First Class Honours and University Medal) and a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Sydney. He has a Master of Philosophy in Economics from the University of Oxford, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar and wrote a competition policy thesis. Building on his economics background, Angus was initially appointed to parliamentary committees on employment, trade and investment, and public accounts. He was also chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Treaties. In February 2016, he was appointed Assistant Minister to the Prime Minister with special responsibility for Cities and Digital Transformation. He was appointed Minister for Law Enforcement and Cyber Security in December 2017. In August 2018, Angus was promoted to Federal Cabinet as Minister for Energy. On 8 October 2021 Angus was sworn in as Minister for Industry, Energy and Emissions Reduction. Angus grew up in southern NSW on a sheep and cattle property at Nimmitabel. He lives near Goulburn with his wife Louise and their four children Hamish, Olivia, Adelaide and Richard, aged 15-22. To
stay fit, Angus trains for and regularly competes in triathlons and
running events. He represented Australia for his age group at the
triathlon World Championships in 2009. He also participates annually in
Pollie Pedal, a cycling event to support national charity Soldier On. |

She's a smart girl...
Ryan serves as the director of the Neurology department at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. Ryan has over 150 peer-reviewed publications and has been a principal investigator on a number of clinical trials.[4] She is joint editor of Neuromuscular disorders of infancy, childhood, and adolescence, now in its second edition.[5][6] Ryan's publications have over 10,000 citations, and she has an H index of 50, which is a measure of the impact of her research.[6] |

See that’s the problem with you people that “don’t really care”
You just watch the bits you clandestinely agree with, and out your hands to your ears like a toddler, with the things that don’t fit your narrative.
You obviously missed Joshy’s “concession speech” He said, it’s mathematically possible but difficult, then spoke for 6 or 7 minutes thanking a few and talking himself up. No concession other than “it’s difficult “ No congratulations No naming the victor No wishes of good luck. He is a very small man |

Some interesting takes from the right leaning vanquished and their media enablers.
Apparently Libs lost because they didn't go hard enough to the right. Lib party room as small as it is now should be pretty lively.

Will this guy be a voice in the wilderness? NSW Liberal Treasurer Matt Kean has labelled the federal election loss an "unmitigated disaster" and says the party needs to "get its act together" to win back the support of those it has abandoned. Key points:
The comments come after the Liberal Party lost three Sydney seats to so-called teal independents, with moderate Liberal MPs unseated in Wentworth, North Sydney and Mackellar. Mr Kean, a moderate Liberal powerbroker, said the results show the Liberal Party clearly misread the electorates. "They've abandoned the centre ground and they have paid the price," he told the ABC. "The community has said loud and clear that extremism in politics, not having the solutions to the big challenges our nation is facing, like climate change, are not acceptable. So voters in our heartland seats have looked elsewhere for the solution. "I mean it's an unmitigated disaster. What we saw is our traditional Liberal Party voters abandoning the Liberal Party for the people that want to take stronger action on climate change." Mr Kean, who had previously been a vocal opponent of the former government's action on climate change, said the party needed to form "sincere policies" for women and stand up for integrity in politics. He suggested the federal party has shifted too far to the right. |

He has been very vocal on this in recent weeks. He is also the Lib who called on Labor for vote for moderate Liberals rather than teal independents in the seats that flipped on the weekend, to try to save the Liberal Party.
