If the horse wasn’t ok he wouldn’t be racing.
Have a look at his action on saturday.
Absolutely no sign of niggling problems, he was stretching out and not in any discomfort

A good horse. But far from being a superstar.
Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers

Go away troll.
This horse is lucky to be alive after fracturing a pelvis and rupturing a blood vessel and now winning group 1’s
He is every bit a superstar

I'm not trolling. I'm stating facts. The fact is..he is not a super star. Other horses over the years have come back from injuries and won a G1 race.

As I said...Kings Will Dream is a good horse...But not a superstar. If you think Kings Will Dream is a super star then perhaps you should take your blinkers off. Simple.

As evidenced by this detailed report Clap

Ballarat Equine Clinic
After racing in the 2018 Cox Plate, Kings Will Dream (formerly of Forest Lodge and currently with Chris Waller Racing) was non-weight bearing lame in the left hind and presented with marked swelling over the left hip.

Dr Travis Smyth immediately performed an ultrasound of the horse's pelvis and confirmed a fracture of the left ilial wing with secondary hematoma formation. A bone scan performed also confirmed a fracture of the left ilium. This mighty gelding had fractured his pelvis and miraculously was still alive!

At the request of his devoted owners, everything was done for Kings Will Dream to save his life. It seemed highly unlikely that he would ever race again.

He was placed on intravenous fluids, strong opioid pain killers and strict box rest. If Kings Will Dream had been allowed to lie down at this point, he would have most likely shattered his pelvis. So he was cross tied and given the most diligent nursing care for the next 45 days. A lesser horse would not have coped with such restriction but he coped perfectly. (Special thanks to Laura Dixon at Dowling View Equine Centre who helped to care for him.)

After this time, Kings Will Dream underwent an extensive rehabilitation regimen organised and overseen by Dr. Ian Fulton.

6 months after the initial injury, a bone scan cleared the way to recommence training...

To see Kings Will Dream back racing at the highest level with a win in the Turnbull Stakes and another tilt at the Cox plate is truely wonderful.

Congratulations to Chris Waller and to Kings Will Dream’s owners. Best wishes for the Spring Racing Carnival!

I got teary reading that - thanks for posting Gay.
We'll just have to trust that Waller and all connections are looking after him and no way would he be racing if there was any chance of another breakdown.
Bless you, KIngs Will Dream 🦄

WHY has there been no word at all about KWD since going wrong n the 2019 Cox Plate? This is a very high profile horse. They’ve had plenty of time to assess him, why the silence? Surely there should have been a statement released about the horses condition, either good or bad?

He cut his leg on sat morn, all good now

Race 9 - Prior to final scratching time this morning Stewards were notified by the Chris Waller stable that Kings Will Dream (IRE) had sustained abrasions to the off hind flank area whilst in the stable area this morning. The stable veterinary surgeon reported that, in her opinion, the gelding was fit to start and sought permission for the application of an antiseptic lotion. After conferring with the Racing Victoria veterinary surgeon permission was granted and the final scratching time was extended to allow the RV vet to inspect Kings Will Dream (IRE) prior to the final field being decided. Upon inspection at 7.55am the RV veterinary surgeon reported the gelding was suitable to race.

There was a report last Sunday stating he'd pulled up well after the Cox Plate and would either go to the Emirates at Flemington or head out for a spell.

Turnbull Stakes fairytale: One wrong move and he would have bled out

As Kings Will Dream shoots for successive Turnbull Stakes triumphs, the rehabilitation specialist who nursed him back to health when he was on his deathbed has laid bare just how close he was to dying after the 2018 Cox Plate.

Kings Will Dream continues to add new chapters to one of racings great fairytale stories but only now has the full story of the frightening days after he suffered a pelvic fracture when eased out of the race as Winx famously won her fourth Cox Plate been revealed.

One wrong move and he would have bled out, Laura Dixon, who operates Victorias Dowling View Equine Centre near Ballarat said, of the daily life-and-death battle for the star galloper after the 18 Cox Plate.

With pelvis injuries we have to do our best to stop horses from laying down, something they would normally do at least once during the day.

We had him cross-tied, it is a balancing act youve got to tie them long enough so they can reach food and water but not so that they can lay down.

I have had probably half a dozen horses with pelvis injuries of varying degrees, he was one of the worst.

Out of those six horses, two have got back to races, two have gone off to be broodmares or pony horses and the other couple havent survived.

To be honest given his injury there was a slim chance he was going to survive let alone get back to the races and to get back to race to his full capacity is absolutely amazing.

african king names

Kings Will Dream on the first day at Laura Dixon's rehab property.

Kings Will Dream stunned the racing world last year when he returned from deaths door to snatch an extraordinary Turnbull Stakes win.

A year on and without another win since he is rated a $14 chance by TAB to make it back-to-back Turnbull wins in the 2000m Group 1 at Flemington on Saturday.

It has been a tale of triumph but could so easily have been one of tragedy.

Dixon was familiar with being a nurse to equine patients she once helped Prince Of Penzance back to health after he suffered a colic attack and the horse famously later won Michelle Paynes 2015 Melbourne Cup.

Laura Dixon with 2015 Melbourne Cup winner Prince of Penzance, she nursed him back to health from colic.

But as much of this tale is a credit to Dixon and the vets who helped Kings Will Dream, it is also testament to the horse himself.

Dixon is convinced that a horse with a different temperament to the unflappable Kings Will Dream would have not made it through the darkest days after the devastating injury.

Kings Will Dream didnt have much to do except stand up and take in his stable surroundings, sometimes gazing at other horses or staff, but he quite literally didnt put a hoof wrong.

This horse was quite a unique character his best attribute was he was a good patient horse, he wasnt stupid and he took care of himself, Dixon said.

There was a long list of problems that could have happened.

If they cant get their head down far enough they cant clear their airways and they can get pneumonia, so you have got to have enough room for that but then they cant lay down.

And then there is potential laminitis from the lack of movement, obviously a horse is meant to move and graze all day if they dont their legs can swell up with fluid and things and then they can get secondary problems in their feet.

We got all those little measures right and he was tied up to a point where he could reach his food and water 24-7 but couldnt lay down and he never tried to lay down.

He stood quite calm and still in his box he was in a box where he could see everyone else and he could see what was going on but there was not so much going on that he wanted to get out and jump around with them.

He was allowed to walk around his box supervised, I would walk him around his stable to keep him moving but you had to be with him so he didnt lay down, a couple of times through the day to keep his mind and everything stimulated.

It really was like having a patient in hospital.

Kings Will Dream had various medical treatments that helped his recovery.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy was used to give the injured galloper injections of his own platelets to accelerate healing and shockwave treatment was also used on the injured pelvis.

Kings Will Dream receiving shockwave treatment on his pelvis, as part of his rehab process.

There were plenty of other major players along the road to recovery for Kings Will Dream, including trainer Matthew Williams who stepped into the fray with several weeks of fitness work after the galloper left Dixons care.

Chris Waller has been there for all the remaining steps in the journey one which will again cause tears to flow freely all over Australia if he can conjure another Turnbull Stakes victory on Saturday.

Doomben 10000 or Stradbroke as his swansong??

Surely one of those races would be a starting point for a final campaign.  Hopefully they can find a race in Qld that hed be a realistic chance of winning.

Will the Wayne Wilson Stks on Saturday be the farewell race for KWD?

His Doomben 10,000 run was ok, so hed have to be a live chance stepping up to 1600m at WFA.

Would be great to see him bow out on a winning note.
