There’s your Sydney Cup winner imo. I just hope he runs in it

Only 1 run this prep according to Lloyd the other day. I was thinking he'd run huge here and get an invite to the All Star. Massive run today.

Great return today, unlikely Lloyd runs him in the Sydney Cup, he doesn't fit the profile of any of Lloyds Sydney Cup runners.

Williams only runs them in Sydney Cup if he thinks they've done their dash in MC. So JV will not start in SC.

Exactly, his two recent winners Mourayan and Gallante were never going to be genuine chances in the MC, Efficient was on a farewell tour, Almandin likely weighted out of the MC, this fella is a genuine chance this year still so no chance.

Might go Ranvet/BMW though. Seems to having a bit of a crack at those lately.

Anyone know what the likely Spring program for this stallion is?

I assume we’ll see him next weekend in the Craiglee Stks 1600m, then another run in between that & the Cox Plate.

Are his Caulfield & Melb Cup placings from 2017 sufficient to keep him qualified for the 2019 Melb Cup? Or are they too long ago to count towards qualifying this year?

HI Folks,
Does anybody know what if anything is happening with this horse, with all the changes at Loyd's, I have lost track of he's retired, broken down or what ever
Cheers in advance.
I did look for an older post but could not find anything

Last I read was that he was scratchy in the tendon again.
Still at Macedon as far as I’m aware

Racing Aust website now shows JV as ‘Active’ and with Robert Hickmott.

Would love to know the facts around what’s happening with this horse.

Off the scene for so long & now an 8 year old.  Lloyd usually sells off his stallions & they end up in some pretty obscure countries.

But JV is still here & active Confused

Johannes Vermeer is the newest son of the late great Galileo to stand at stud in Victoria and will do so at Cornwall Park, a stone's throw away from his former home Macedon Lodge.

Based at Toolern Vale, 20 kilometres north of Macedon, the 2017 Caulfield and Melbourne Cup placegetter has attracted strong interest since the announcement this week.

"Everyone keeps ringing, there has been a lot of interest," Cornwall Park's Peter Boyle said.

"The way things are going I think he could get 50 to 80 mares and that's just off the feel from the last couple of days since we announced him."

A European G1 winner as a two-year-old over 1400 metres, Johannes Vermeer finished second behind fellow Lloyd Williams-owned galloper Rekindling in the 2017 Melbourne Cup.

A €300,000 yearling purchase, Johannes Vermeer was originally trained by Aidan O'Brien, and 19 of Galileo's sons have already produced G1 winners at stud.

Johannes Vermeer becomes the fifth son of Galileo to stand in Australia and just the second in Victoria, joining Highland Reel, who is based at Swettenham Stud. His other sons include Adelaide and Churchill, who are represented on Coolmore's roster, while Kellstorm is based in Queensland.

"They aren't making them anymore," Boyle said.

"In my experience, I've found if they (the breeders) don't like the pedigree they won't make the call, most of the questions I'm getting are on type and he is a great type.

"He has been here a week and I can't wait for him to let down.

"He is a big, strong-boned horse, which probably isn't common in the Europeans."

Johannes Vermeer will stand his first season at stud for a service fee of $11,000 as one of five stallions on the Cornwall Park roster.

Cornwall Park also stands Boom Time, who defeated Johannes Vermeer in the 2017 Caulfield Cup and currently has his first foals on the ground. The stud's most recognised stallion is the long-standing Danerich, while Soul Patch and Cliff's Edge served their first mares last season.

How much would it have added to his fee had he managed to overhaul the 0.2L margin behind Gailo Chop in the Caulfield Stakes?
