Some of my favourites, in no particular order. Sure there are plenty of others that will come to me.

Borsalino - So cool, the clothes, and the personality of Belmondo
My Fair Lady - Full of hit songs, brilliant.
The French Connection - Boy can Gene Hackman act, and the best car chase ever.
Alien - The suspense, and the scene when it erupted for her stomach, shocking
Elmer Gantry - great acting from Burt Lancaster, precursor to televangelist scammers.
Gunfight At OK Corral - Lancaster and Douglas, cool
Godfather part 1,2 - Chilling performance from Pacino, brilliant despite Brando's caricature.
The Magnificent Seven - Top cast, top action
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - Clint Eastwood at his best, cool ( movie title could describe TBV contributors Smile
From Here To Eternity - Brilliant cast, gripping story.
In The Heat of the Night - great acting, Steiger eventually, begrudgingly appreciates Sidney Poitier's expertise.
42nd Street - Romantic, redolent of the great Broadway era, wonderful songs, dancing staged for film yes but most enjoyable.
I am sure I have missed at least twice those listed.

Most overrated film - Gone With the Wind

I bet you think Dave Hughes is funny.

You lose your bet. You just can't let anything go can you. Sorry for having the temerity to consider a remark funny, it has to be all JJ's way.

My Fair Lady - Full of hit songs, brilliant. I can sing them all.
The French Connection - Boy can Gene Hackman act, and the best car chase ever. S'okay.
Alien - The suspense, and the scene when it erupted for her stomach, shocking MEH.
Elmer Gantry - great acting from Burt Lancaster, precursor to televangelist scammers. Great movie.
Gunfight At OK Corral - Lancaster and Douglas, cool love it.
I have watched it about twenty times and have the dvd. Deborah Kerr is my favourite actress and I also like Burt Lancaster.
In The Heat of the Night - great acting, Steiger eventually, begrudgingly appreciates Sidney Poitier's expertise. Fabulous movie. Watched it again about a month ago.
42nd Street - Romantic, redolent of the great Broadway era, wonderful songs, dancing staged for film yes but most enjoyable.
I am sure I have missed at least twice those listed.

Most overrated film - Gone With the Wind Agree.

You surprise me with Elmer Gantry and 42nd Street.  I own the first, but not into the second.

You are obviously a Burt Lancaster fan. Have you seen Mister 880, or The Gypsy Moths?

 Both very good movies.

Casablanca, All About Eve and Rome: Open City my faves by a long way. Also some Whale mentioned. Sound of Music, Railway Children and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang from childhood. A Man for All Seasons. To Be or Not to Be. Grumpy Old Men. My Cousin Vinnie. To Sir With Love. The 39 Steps. Psycho. Rope. Men With Guns. Local Hero (Burt Lancaster in a weird but unforgettable movie!)

There's a few off the top of my head.

Which one?  The original or the 1983 version.

 The original was excellent.

I guess I'm not as serious as the rest of you.  Most musicals find favour like Meet me in St Louis and even Anchors Away.  Loved The King and I and South Pacific more than Carousel though.  Going My Way, Singin in the Rain, My Fair Lady, Hairspray was fun, The Sapphires, Oliver, Fiddler on the Roof, White Christmas, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Calamity Jane there are lots of fun musicals out there to enjoy.

South Pacific and Calamity Jane are my two favourite musicals. I never took to West Side Story, though I like a few songs from it.  Carousel was boooooring, bar one song.

Deborah Kerr, was wonderful in The Kng and I. Two fun things about it: Just before filming started, Deborah was having a barbecue at her home in Pacific Palisades. Was having trouble getting the barbecue started, so she grabbed her husband's glass of vodka and threw its contents on the coals. It flared up the flame, burnt off her eyebrows and singed the front of her hair. The studio was not happy when she turned up for work, but the make-up department repaired her as best they could...with 'falsies' eyebrows and a wig...and filming went on.

Years later, when a reporter asked Deborah what she thought of The King and I, she replied that although it was a good film, if she was tied to a chair and had to sit through it more than once she would go out-and-out crazy.

She was a very funny woman.

This humid weather knocked me down for a few days. It is the worst scenario for an asthmatic person. What started out as a simple asthma attack, quickly turned to a severe chest infection. I bolted down several prednisone and an antibiotic; the daughter went out and bought copious bottles of fruit juices and appropriate fresh fruit. She also made me her wonderful won-ton soup, chock full of celery and ginger. It usually helps. (tasted great)

I propped myself up in bed, relaxed as best I could; took four puffs of Ventolin every few hours...and crossed my fingers I wouldn't end up in hospital again.

I think I turned the corner this morning. Woke up hungry and we Ubered in lunch. Fish, chips, calamari, prawn cutlets, and pineapple fritters...along with coleslaw and a Greek salad. Our local fish shop at Maroubra Junction does good stuff. Not greasy. Quality.

Now, I cannot wait for the footy to start...because despite reading a good book, and playing endless games of bridge and Hell Yeah on my laptop, I am bored out of my brain. Free-to-air TV is mindless rubbish, apart from The Traitors and Survivor.

Who the hell watches MAFS? Or Australian Idol? Spare me...

 Yin Yang

(Don't even suggest an air-con, Tutu...I've had more asthma attacks at air-conned hotels than at home. Cold air is worse than humidity.)

I did come on here when I couldn't sleep at night...the prednisone does keep one awake. I read all the stuff posted...some days quite minimal, other days the ranting right was on the rampage. What a bore-fest that was.

It struck me how repetitive some posters are. I reckon HG, Sunny and Tutu have repeated the same posts, ad nauseum. About time they came up with new comedy routines.

I know you are all happy to have me back. My daughters cancelled the possible funeral. Has anyone a review of Bare Funerals...just for any future need?

I obviously know Marcia Hines...and the dreaded Kyle Sandilands...but who is Amy Shark?

It is probably very entertaining for some people. Just not my cup of hot black tea.

Being forced to watch TV more than I usually do, I flicked around channels at strange times...especially during the night. Endless shopping junk. Puleeeeese. Who watches that crap?

And why the hell is Skippy still on? And that awful awful The Nanny?

Next they will be repeating A Country Practice.

Thank god for the internet and OK.RU.
