I don't get it. What is the reasoning behind buying northern hemisphere unraced horses? You are pretty much out of winning 2 and 3yo races, Russian Camelot notwithstanding. So you have a horse that is unlikely to win big until it is 4. Are the local breds that overpriced?

I'd guess the back to back wins of European 3yos in the Melbourne Cup started it, get them out here younger and acclimatised quicker.

Gerry Ryan has done pretty well with this experiment - Fifty Stars, Furrion, Grand Promenade have all won good races.

Will watch Austrata with interest - he’d have to be the only progeny of Epsom Derby winner Australia to be imported here?

Hello,
when I looked at the ped of "Keepers Dreem" I realised, he is pretty close related with "Kalifornia Queen", (by Lope de Vega) a 3 year old filly. She just won the "Gestut Röttgen Diana Trial"  (Group  2) at
Cologne, "3 year old saison in Germany". Konigstochter, the dam of "Keepers Dream" is in turn the granddam of "Kalifornia Queen".
 
The damline is from the German Foundationmare "Kaiserwürde" (Konigsstuhl, Kandia, König Turf, Kalatos etc.)

Three-year-old Grand Avenue is an great opportunity for patient new owners to race a Northern Hemisphere bred stayer. 

Sired by European and North America Group 1 winner Champs Elysees, who has had success on Australian soil with dual Australian Cup winner Harlem, this bloke is bred to stay. 

Owners have made the ruthless decision to move the sound gelding on given he has not shown enough to make Saturday metropolitan grade. 

Given his staying genes and the fact he is six months in age behind Australian 3yos, the new owner may reap the benefits if allowing him more time to mature as his DNA profile underlines his breeding as his preferred distance will be 2000m plus.

Last week he weighed in at 541kg, he stands around 16 hands. He is a good ride and is easy to handle as he has a nice temperament
