Doubtless her success or lack of as a broodmare will be reliant on her new owners & they or their advisers ability to select on the basis of pedigree compatibility first & sale ring appeal.

Imperatriz's possible stallion suitors

A date with champion sire Snitzel or one of his Group 1-producing sons shapes as a logical match for star mare Imperatriz's maiden cover this spring, according to leading pedigree system G1 Goldmine.

The G1 Goldmine Stallion Match, which is frequently used by studs and breeders across Australasia, uses data and insight from previous matings to build ratings for hypothetical matches between stallions and mares.

The system will rate a mating as a '20/20 match' if there are at least two Group or Graded Stakes winners with very similar pedigree patterns.

G1 Goldmine's Matthew Ennis said although I Am Invincible is still emerging as a broodmare sire, his mares have enjoyed noted success with Arrowfield Stud's four-time Champion Australian Sire Snitzel, who stood for $247,500 in 2023.

Snitzel is the sire of 19 individual G1 winners, including two Golden Slipper winners, four Guineas winners, a dual Everest winner and a Cox Plate hero.

Snitzel, as well as his sons Shamus Award, Russian Revolution, Trapeze Artist, Wild Ruler and In The Congo, are all rated '20/20' on G1 Goldmine's Stallion Match with Imperatriz.

Other '20/20' matches with Imperatriz include Cambridge Stud's Hello Youmzain, Coolmore Stud's Fastnet Rock and Darley's Too Darn Hot.

"It's no surprise that Snitzel and his sons are the way to go here with an I Am Invincible mare," Ennis said.

"This hypothetical has the Snitzel x Invincible Spirit cross, which is working 5.1 times better than expected.

"I Am Invincible mares are still proving themselves at 2.62 per cent SW/Runners but when crossed with Redoute's Choice in the sire line, that percentage almost doubles to 4.65 per cent.

"Other possible options on this line include Snitzel's sons Russian Revolution, Shamus Award and Trapeze Artist, who have the same G1 Goldmine profile.

"Although there is only a small sample size, the Sadler's Wells line is proving interesting with So You Think and Dundeel possible options to breed a horse with a similar pedigree to Masked Crusader, Good Idea and Victor The Winner."

Imperatriz, the 10-time G1 winner who was retired by Te Akau Racing last week, will be sold at public auction in either Australia or New Zealand ahead of the 2024 spring.

It takes a wise man a lifetime to grow a tree and a fool five minutes to kill one.

Little more than a promo for a system that has more than its share of doubters, even given quite a few of the suggestions do appear to suit.  Though you don't need a 20/20 report to work that out.

Mind you who she visits might well be determined by just who buys her and the stallions that the successful bidder stands.

Based on the preference for a successful sire that actually suits I'd add Pierata and Zoustar in that order, and both Cracksman and Frankel would appear to suit if they go the the NH.

Snitzel would be the choice but as she is owned by Yulong, surely you just keep going to Written Tycoon while he is still around as I think a colt by those two is easily a million plus at the sales if he has straight legs.

At the stud, there are plenty of exciting options (Pierata, Diatonic, Alabama Express) and plenty more Yulong's currently in training that may one day make their way to stud.
