Apparently there has been a steep increase in people surrendering their pets to pounds/RSPCA etc due to cost of living.

I was speaking to a friend who works for Services NSW her job at the moment is to process EPA vouchers/payments for people in desperate need of getting help with their power bills paid. She told me she has phone appointments all day everyday, 5 days a week. She is allocated 10 mins per customer to try get through the amounts of vouchers to process. Apparently you apply on line, they call you and you have a 3 way chat with your energy provider to see if they can help you in anyway. Apparently they have never seen so many applications in the history of the vouchers scheme. She basically sits there and processes these vouchers, every day, all day, they just keep coming in.

Energy providers don't care, they still get their money, and they just apply these lame discounts to accounts that mean nothing, usually people are on plans that are highest price, without the customer knowing, then when people struggle to pay the bill, during the 3 way call they offer them a better plan with a 3% discount etc.. I was not shocked to hear all this, people are really hurting out there.

Letters we are a very "smart" country. Listening to the ALP rhetoric over the last 30 years & you would know that. So we are "smart" enough to build cars, T.V's, Washing Machines, Shoes, Clothes - in fact pretty well everything. Fact is we don't produce any of them. Remember when we were being told we led the solar research game 20 years ago - what have we actually got out of that. 99.9% of all solar panels now are imported Confused

Reality - all we are good at commercially is digging holes. And its not because we are really "good" at it either - we just have the stuff needed to be dug up.

So to answer your original question - yes we are capable of producing artificial grass in Australia. Problem is - it is no better quality & costs 25% more at least.

This smart country mantra has always been cobblers. It still is (refer AUKUS Deal)

I rallied against the Howard government for failing to address these things with the wrath they had at their disposal. I had hoped that a labor party would reverse the selling of the farm and the privatisation of everything but I seems my hope was misplaced

Hawke/Keating started the Thatcherite privatisation outsourcing programming in Australia.

Yes they did. Especially Keating. It led to me actually  voting  against labor in the ‘98(?) election

And in fact I'd even question if we are actually "smarter". I don't see much evidence here on TBV LOL

Again, I have not said workers in harvest should not be paid a fair wage, how many times do I need to say that before it works its way into your head?
