Hi Team,
So I am at work and a mate calls, there is one in a sale that would fit your brief, I'm still flat from the loss of the Gem and insist I am out of this lottery,
He states a simple fact.
OK then mate don't whinge to me, you have given up and will never breed a handy horse.
So I look at the sale decide to give it a miss, the next day I notice she was passed in, I ring the farm and buy the mare.Wacko

Dandesha 2008 (FR) - Dansili - Darashandeh

https://www.agakhanstuds.com/Horse/200800221/EN

deceptive photo she is easy 16h

Any State, I would love to breed a Mile to 10F horse, but with my luck just a safe and healthy foal would be a massive achievement.

Again thank you so much to all that advised and helped with the Gem, she really did have a happy last couple of years. Would just walk around the paddock with her head on your shoulder, funny old girl.

So lets see what the collective mind comes up with

Cheers Old Flight

Wow that's a reality check right there.
1/2 nicely topped but horrible legs.
not windswept, but cow hocked, off hind and front is not much better.

hard to see that bloke ever withstanding the amount of work to be a race horse

Cheers for the post Shawy38

Well no-one could accuse you of lacking intestinal fortitude Baz!

Her best foal is by Pierro, so maybe look for him or Lonhro in possible sires, with maybe Danzig thrown in.

Looking at the pedigree of Trevelyan, it would seem that the strength appears to be through Pierro's female line rather than the sire in my view. I would look at the European influences and one prospect that would be worth looking at would be Xtravagant. Pentire would seem to to reinforce some of the strengths of the mare's pedigree, as well as having Zabeel present who is the grandsire of Pierro.

Ok all of you know much more about leg problems than I do.  But what I have been told is you don't inbreed if there is a problem (well definately not to closely).

Looking at the family alot of the stock only had 1 or 2 wins - even the stakes winners.

But a few had that 5 to 8 wins.  Including one by Zabeel hense the Pierro cross probably being good.

Also this is a mare from the Danehill sire line and they cross well with Pierro, So You Think etc.  All probably above your price range.

But taking that I think look to Zabeel, Shamardal, Mr Prospector, Djebel, maybe a sex balanced Mill Reef etc?

In the affordable range and with maybe a better chance for a miler+ you have

All the above you would imagine would get more of a miler type.  You could try the Galileo line also as he has Mr Prospector.

Any State, I would love to breed a Mile to 10F horse

Pierro's dam is bred on a reverse cross to High Chaparral, and Pierro himself is bred on a reverse cross to Dundeel and Alpine Eagle.  Castelvecchio is a son of Dundeel, So You Think has the High Chap line, and Quick Thinker is still an entire so he might be worth considering when he goes to the shed.

Glass Harmonium's dam is bred on the same cross as Pierro's dam.

Grunt has the line to Zabeel through his second dam and a cross to Mill Reef through his sireline.

If you decide you need a nice winter holiday, you and the mare could fly across the Tasman and she could have a date with Zed while you went skiing on Mt Taranaki.  (Possibly the best value of the bunch IMO, especially if you get a ski vacation as part of the deal.)

And if you want to breed a stayer and aren't particular about pedigree, there's always Fiorente.

Saw in another post that D'Argento will be standing next season, and as a son of So You Think he has the High Chap line.

Hello,
I know I'm a month too late.

When i saw th ped of "My Oberon" I noted he is from the same damline as "Dandesha". Just for fun I did
a hypomating, to see how it will be "constructed"
My Oberon - Dandesha:
4x6 Darazina
3x4 Danehill
4x5 Shirley Heights
4x5x6 Danzig
5x6 High Line
5x6 Mr. Prospector
6x6 Roberto
6x6 Buckpasser
5x6x6x6 ND

Crackerjack King has a "relative" in AUS. His name is "Power (by Oasis Dream), he stands at the "Oaklands Stud" in Queensland. The mating would  lok as following:
Power - Dandesha
4x4 Danzig
5x5x6x6 ND
5x5 Mill Reef
6x6x6 Never Bend
5x6 Blushing Groom
6x6 Nijinsky
6x6 Busted

Dandesha is from the foundationmare of the "Aga Khan Studs" her name was "Pretty Lady". A strain of Family 1 widely related with the more influential Malva (Blenheim/His Grace/King Salon, Summertime). Crackerjack King and Power are descents of Malva

regards, Ticino

HI Ticino and the greater Team.
Never to late Brother to add input and I am very grateful to everybody who has added their valuable input .
I know it is a failing of my personal preference and has zero statistical evidence but I always love a double cross of Mill Reef.
If anybody has any final thoughts please add them.
I would like to keep her in Vic but anywhere is good.

Cheers Baz

Hi Team,
So as a unit, the dude I am in Dandesha with and I have decided to stay in Vic this season with the mare.
Below is a short list, to hopefully get a miler to 10f horse; (but as we know with my luck, the dream is a healthy foal)

In no order of preference;
Tosen Stardom
Endless Drama
National Defense
Royal Meeting
Vinno Rosso
Artie Schiller

And an SA over the border
Akeed Mafeed

all for many different reasons and all under $10k
some less than half of that

Some honest assessments if you could would be great
PM me if you want to know the dollars of what was offered, not asked for

Cheers Old Flight

I hope everybody is copping as good as you can
Stay safe and well   Thumbs Up

Just annouced to stand at Cornwall Park for $11K.

Hello, Oldflight,
I see you meanwhile made up your mind, of the mating of your mare "Dandesha".
Nevertheless I spot one more interesting sire, Almanzor (by Wootton Bassett). He was bred in France, but shuttles to NZ ; according my info the "Cambridge Stud". It's some distance from AUS, but not so far away as Europe.

The hypomating:
Almanzor - Dandesha
3x5  Daralinsha
4x6 Danzig
5x6 ND
5x6 Mill Reef
6x6 Natalma
6x6 Buckpasser

regards, Ticino

Daarabah, After looking at the weanling by Husson, I wouldnt be putting her to Bel Esprit. Even though hes a grand stallion in some ways.  I think its very important to look at not only bloodlines here but a very correct stallion with excellent legs and who is prepotent.

Completely agree SD
Confirmation will be paramount the Husson weaning in my humble opinion has no hope of with standing basic education without some devine intervention.
It is hard at the minute to get around and see babies and yearlings to get a broader knowledge base on which to make a decision, especially with the Sires with no exposed runners.
I think that brings Artie back into the frame
Does anyone have some real knowledge on why Johannes Vermeer had such a stop / start career

Cheers Old Flight

Well Dandesha has had a Fiorente Colt, we were booked to National Defense and were the next mornings cover when his accident happened.
So sad for all involved so a quick decision had to be made and Fiorente it was, Kimberley Mine mentioned it in one post, so lucky the result was a slight improvement to the Husson from a few years ago (previous owners)

These were at 6 weeks
She was covered a couple of days ago by Earthlight so fingers crossed
Cheers to everybody who took the time to comment along the journey,
my mate who is the most amazing dreamer, has already stated 6 starts and into the SA Derby in May 2026, I told him if he has got to a track unscathed by them we would be lucky.

Ciao For Now Baz
