Striking level of incompetence though from Labor not to prepare. Now in a competent world, the Tweedledee and Tweedledum parties would have got together and worked out a policy months, years ago, since the original HC ruling was obvious legal nonsense. But my dream of basic competence is as unlikely as Afros waking up to Katy Perry.

There was no need to prepare if as stated TPV's were quite adequate to fill the gap until new legislation based on the HC's ruling was put in place. The crossbenchers and Greens consulted by Labor all wanted the govt to wait and do it properly. They caved to pressure.

Although I rarely, if ever, watch ABC television or read The Guardian, I have little need to do so, because articles regularly posted on TBV by their admirers keep me up to date on a daily basis. No names, no pack drill, but we all know who they are.Wink

Back in June when whispers were spoken that the High Court would uphold the detainees appeals, the incompetence of the Ministers for Immigration & Home Affairs is now apparent as neither prepared draft legislation in anticipation that the government's case in the High Court would be lost

Here is a real life situation facing a couple of young women because of that incompetence.

Tony Kellisar killed his wife and dumped her body in a wheelie bin acid bath. Now a High Court ruling has set him free, and his former stepdaughters are terrified he will come after them.

Since 1999 — when he was sentenced to 22 years in a Victorian prison — sisters Serrah and Bianca Katz have feared their former stepfather Kellisar might one day be freed

She had been on a work trip and he’d secretly followed her from Sydney. He then drove her body back to NSW where he tried to dissolve it in a vat of acid.

He was sentenced to 22 years for the crime and since his release from prison in 2021, he has been in immigration detention trying to fight an order that his visa be cancelled.

Now, thanks to the High Court’s ruling that criminals who have had their visas cancelled and cannot be returned to their country of origin must be released, Kellisar has been given a chance of freedom.

Same as all the other murderers who have served their short sentences except he doesn't have citizenship.

What do you suggest this new proposed law do?

Dutton is clear, lock them up and bugger the High Court.

On stripping citizenship...bugger the High Court, just do it.

Twice on Tuesday Ben Fordham asked Dutton if he as Immigration Minister was warned there could be a problem with this detention system. First time he waffled, second time he said ''Well no Ben''

Dutton’s view of locking the worst of them up and let them rot in jail is what 95% of the population agree with.

So you sit around all day and watch what free to air commercial channels like 9 or 10 or 7 with their constant ads all day ? buy this insurance or that insurance, buy this burger or that makeup.

I prefer to have the ABC on all day and use it like a radio, I just listen to the news bulletins, occasionally sit down to watch Hard Quiz, IQ, antiques roadshow, Midsomer murders. I rarely of ever turn the TV off, it feels weird if there is no sound on in the house all day so ABC does it politely and without a single fkn ad all day.

Rarely watch free to air tv, for the same reasons as yourself, either watch sport / horse racing on Pay Tv, and more importantly I am on the internet monitoring my SMSF. Love crosswords.

we have had a deplorable line up of PM's plastic. Do you want to bring back the god fearing, coal loving minister for everything?
and what would you have had Albo do?

We have indeed. Starting with Howard

Please no, my posting history suggests that is the last thing I’d want.

and what would you have had Albo do?

First of all, don’t use that wet lettuce excuse that the flag waver produced. Absolutely pathetic. As to what he should be doing, his position dictates that he demands these 3rd world countries where these vile people come from, accept them back. Murders rapist should not be allowed the benefits of our hospitality.
Myranmar for example. We’ve given them hundreds of millions of dollars in aid. Taken ‘em back or else

If we have in fact given Myanmar hundreds of millions in aid, you think it was totally selfless of us?

Or were there a myriad of other factors involved in granting the aid?

If it was the latter, then maybe these other factors are more important than one individual you want sent back….

There’s no “ifs” about it and every country should be forced to take their criminals back regardless of how many, in my opinion

If the refugees were critics of the Myanmar military junta there is no way they could be sent back to probable torture or worse

Sorry, but IF they’re murders and rapists as we are told, I done care. They are not our responsibility and a threat to our people.
Why should they escape punishment for their horrendous crimes?

Were short of workers in this county, all hard core criminals like these lot should be made to work in super secure, mega factories, making stuff. Secure Mega factories with good carbon footprints, thousands of inmates building and making things like car batteries, tools, appliances, wind turbines, solar panels etc etc etc, whatever we need made, get it done. Oz businesses could have contracts with these places where they place orders and the crims make the products. Those who don't know to do certain things are taught by professionals. Any inmate who doesn't want to work, then they can go be locked up in solitary, and fed two minute noodles daily.

I cant even be bothered talking about it with people who believe these people have rights.AngryNO, they dont.
They care nothing for the rights of others.  And I care nothing for theirs.
Send them back where they came from.
And if they arrived on a leaky boat, send them back on one. So much better for all concerned.

animals before people.
