Looked outstanding in a dominant win in the Gp2 Coventry Stakes.

Gstaad is a 2yo colt by Starspangledbanner x Mosa Mine, by Exceed And Excel, so plenty of Australian blood in that pedigree. He is also a half brother to Vandeek (by Havana Grey) who won the Gp1 Prix Morny, Gp1 Middle Park Stakes & Gp2 Richmond Stakes. Vandeek is now at stud & will be shuttling to Arrowfield Stud in Australia this year.

However, despite that great win, Aidan O'Brien said that Albert Einstein is "something else"!

Aidan O'Brien wins 11th Coventry with Gstaad - but says his best juvenile and 'the most different horse we've ever seen' is still at home

Gstaad was a decisive winner of the Coventry Stakes with a yawning three-length gap back to the placed horses in the opening two-year-old contest of the week.

The 7-2 favourite, who raced in the nearside group, broke free of his rivals with a furlong and a half to go and powered clear up the centre of the course in the style of a horse head and shoulders above his opponents.

The placed horses were spread across the course with Do Or Do Not second on the far side at 80-1 and Coppull third on the near side at 66-1.

Aidan O'Brien: "What can you say? He’s a lovely horse. I’m delighted for the lads and for everyone. He didn’t get out for a while and was standing in a queue, but won very nicely first time. He’s making up into a very nice horse and looks like he’ll definitely get seven furlongs.

"Gstaad is a good horse in his own right but Albert Einstein has always been something else. He's something that we didn't have before.

"From the first day he worked he's the most different horse we've ever seen. He's so quick. He's so big we had to back off him a little bit but he's very exciting."

Ryan Moore: "He was very impressive. I thought he travelled beautifully, and we got to the front a long way from home. He’s a tall horse and is obviously improving with each run and that was a very good performance."

Ante-post reaction

Gstaad was cut to 14-1 (from 50s) for the 2,000 Guineas by Paddy Power.

In my not so humble opinion Gstaad is better than Albert Einsten.

Sprint races down straights are like bingo raffles

Barrier draw has a HUGE impact

Redraw - rerun - different result imo
