Same time. Sounded like the PMO was expecting it and in true Orange fashion threw a dead cat of their own.

Gladys: Morrison is a horrible horrible person, a fraud and a psycho. Barnyard: Morrison is a liar and a hypocrite and I have never trusted him. Grace: A side eye
Grace is such a terrible disrespectful person.

Good on Scommo, Elbow & the Rooter on their heartfelt apology in Parliament today re Federal Parliaments toxic culture. And some encouraging words from Miss Higgins - she accepted how genuine it was. Time for some action - fair enough as well
No such goodwill from Miss Tame though. Just stick it up Scommo. And people wonder why she has been cut loose. Political bias obviously.

So does that mean Morrison will implement all 28 recommendations of the Jenkins report immediately?

Quoting Rupert. Few points there, other from Bob.
Suggest all those interested, and I mean seriously interested, watch the National Press Club tomorrow with Higgins and Tame in the driver's seat.
Suggest translating words into actual action might be high on the agenda.

Bit of commentary about around the big sorry speech yesterday. Would seem both Scommo & Elbow may have shot from the hip. As there is a Court date to hear the case in June - with full jury - both seem to have forgotten the basic principle of innocent until proven guilty. Unless i am mistaken there has not been one shred of evidence in a court of law that an assault took place.
Defense lawyers will have a field day

Um - probably because you didn't want to hear them
You can hardly apologise to someone if you don't believe they had been wronged in some way. The clear message coming from the apology was that Miss Higgins had been collateral damage as part of the toxic culture in Canberra. Now that would only be true if it is proven an assault took place. If not - she would not require or deserve an apology.
Pretty sure that line will be used early on by her defense - & that it will be almost impossible to now get a fair trial for the accused when both the PM & Opposition leader have already given her an apology.

The apology was a general apology to all victims of harassments in that workplace.
Morrison then singled out Ms Higgins for her experience in that workplace. Certainly didn't detail anything.
"I am sorry for far more than that. All those that came before Ms Higgins … but she had the courage to speak, and so here we are." Mr Morrison said the people responsible for the bullying and harassment would be exposed. "The light will come to those behaviours, as it must," he said.

All of what happened to Miss Higgins will mean didley if it is shown she was consensual - or contributing to her own outcome - in a court of law. That is - he is found not guilty. So once an apology was directed at her specifically yesterday - & not just the "toxic culture" - they have pre-empted the outcome of the court case.
I'm sure more will come from this

What makes you think the reference was only to her alleged rape?
Could mean the handling of the situation, complaint process, her not being believed, the lies around the police investigation, Morrison backgrounding against her and her boyfriend to discredit them etc. She was badly treated regardless of a rape taking place.

She wasn't afforded a process regarding her complaint, with the alleged assailant being deemed not guilty without a trial and then shifted around to several offices to lay low till it blew over.

That's true. However any fair minded person listening to the groveling yesterday would be of the belief she was assaulted. That is still to be proven

If it is shown Miss Higgins was drunk , went voluntarily into the Ministers office , & had consensual relations then there is not too much for anyone to apologise for. All the correct procedures in the world will not impact a decision made by a court of law re guilt.

Much of the commentary since that has been that it was more a recognition of the problem existing and not being addressed, rather than an apology for specific events.
Another of the 6 women in the gallery, Ms Miller is also awaiting the outcome of complaints she made against Alan Tudge who recently stood aside pending outcome. It took a 4 Corners program(Inside The Canberra Bubble) for her situation to be acknowledged.

BTW that statement of recognition yesterday was actually no 1 recommendation of 28 in the Jenkins Report, something she acknowledged yesterday.

Just rereading some of what was said yesterday. And there is no doubt the direct starting point is that Miss Higgins was "wronged". For example - "the place that should have been a place of safety, that turned out to be a nightmare". Surely that assumes an assault occurred - yet to be proven in court.
