The Gp2 Doncaster Cup over 18 furlongs has been won by Coltrane (5g Mastercraftsman - Promise Me, by Montjeu) who scored in a close finish from the long odds on favourite Trueshan & Lismore.

I'm really pleased to see this horse win a big staying Cup. He looked very promising winning the Ascot Stakes (a Heritage Hdcp) at Royal Ascot & the Listed Coral Marathon at Sandown.

The Gp1 Prix Vermeille has been won by Sweet Lady (4m Lope De Vega - High Heel Sneakers, by Dansili) who defeated Lilac Road & La Parisienne with the favourite Tuesday finishing 4th.

Earlier this season, Sweet Lady won the Gp2 Prix Corrida. Damline details:-

The Gp1 Moyglare Stud Stakes for 2yo fillies over 7 furlongs has been won by Tahiyra  (2f Siyouni - Tarana, by Cape Cross) who defeated the hot favourite Meditate with Eternal Silence 3rd.

This is a very good filly. Meditate had previously won all 4 of her starts including a Gp2 & two Gp3s. However, when Ryan Moore made his move taking Meditate to the front in the home straight, Chris Hayes was just sitting still on Tahiyra biding his time. When he let her go, Tahiyra took off & went straight past the favourite. Ultra impressive!

Tahiyra is beautifully bred, being a half sister to Tarnawa who ran 2nd in the 2021 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe won won G1 Breeders Cup Turf, Gp1 Prix de l'Opera & Gp1 Prix Vermeille.

The Gp1 National Stakes for 2yos over 7 furlongs at the Curragh has been won by Al Riffa (2c Wootton Bassett - Love On My Mind, by Galileo) who defeated Proud And Regal & Shartash. The odds on favourite, Aesop's Fables, finished 4th.

The Gp1 St Leger at Doncaster has been won by Eldar Eldarov  (3c Dubawi - All At Sea, by Sea The Stars) who defeated Haskoy & New London.

Earlier this year, Eldar Eldarov won the Gp2 Queen's Vase at Royal Ascot. Bred by Kirsten Rausing & closely related to her outstanding mare, Alpinista. Damline details:-

The Gp1 Irish St Leger has been won by the oustanding stayer, Kyprios  (4h Galileo - Polished Gem, by Danehill) who defeated the game Hamish with Search For A Song (a sister to the winner) well back in third.

That is a third Group One for Kyprios who previously won the Gp1 Ascot Gold Cup & Gp1 Goodwood Cup as well as the Gp3 Levmoss Stakes & LR Vintage Crop Stakes.

The Gp2 Mill Reef Stakes for 2yos over 6 furlongs at Newbury has been won by the odds on favourite Sakheer  (2c Zoffany - Shortmile Lady, by Arcano) who scored by possibly 3 or 4 lengths from Rousing Encore & Charyn.

Sakheer looks to have a bright future & is a half brother to Lemista who won the G2 Kilboy Estate Stakes, G3 Park Express Stakes, G3 Watchmaker Stakes & LR Victor McCalmont Stakes.

Probably heading to the Breeder's Cup Turf a Keeneland in US.

Appleby told www.godolphin.com: “It was another very pleasing performance from Rebel’s Romance, who was giving weight to Sammarco. He saw the trip out well and it was a great ride by William. He remains unbeaten on turf and we will look at potentially taking him out to America for the Breeders’ Cup Turf.”

Bit off track, but.

Jockey Willie Carson and the late trainer Sir Henry Cecil will become the latest additions to the Qipco British Champions Series Hall of Fame.

Carson, who turns 80 next month, joins Lester Piggott, Pat Eddery and Frankie Dettori as the fourth jockey to be inducted.

Sir Henry Cecil is inducted 10 years after the unbeaten Frankel, who he trained, last appeared in a race.

He becomes the second trainer in the Hall of Fame after Vincent O'Brien.

The Hall of Fame was launched in 2021 to recognise the human and equine modern greats of the sport. An induction ceremony will take place on British Champions Day at Ascot on Saturday.

Carson was crowned Champion Jockey in Britain five times and won 17 Classic races, including four victories in The Derby, in his 34-year riding career.

"It's very humbling because of where I've come from, but here I am, an ex-champion jockey, having ridden British Classic winners for Her Majesty the Queen and with four Derby winners," said Carson.

"I have done a few things in my life, but being awarded into the Hall of Fame is one of the biggest. It is a big deal to be invited.

"I am getting old but I am still enjoying life. I've got the horses to keep me amused."

animals before people.

O'Brien said: "Blackbeard was a little off after exercise this morning in preparation for the Breeders' Cup. Unfortunately, when we had him x-rayed, the radiographs showed a small chip in his right knee and a decision has been made to retire him.

Sad news indeed Brudder.

Though at the risk of sounding churlish, many who paid plenty without appropriate success during his time in Oz (fee decreased by 400% over his time here) might not be quite so moved.

The final European Gp1 of the season has just been run - the Grosser Preis von Bayern over 12 furlongs at Munich. It was won by a very big margin by Tunnes (3c Guiliani x Tijuana, by Toylsome) who defeated Well Disposed & Siskany.

The winner is a half brother to Torquator Tasso & appears to have also inherited much of the Arc winner's ability. At his previous start, Tunnes won the Deutsches St Leger over 14 furlongs.
