OK - just tried to deep dive that bloke TJ - don't follow soccer. Seems he turned the Central Coast Mariners around to make the finals after numerous poor seasons. Encouraged not to stay - so he left. So agree it is similar to Langer - albeit at a much lower level.

Not that anyone living north of the Murray River would have heard of him, but this takes some beating. Back in 1965 Norm Smith had coached the Melbourne Football club to 10 successive finals appearances including six premierships. Norm Smith’s standing in the football world and his brilliant record as a coach made his sudden sacking a huge story. Norm was the reigning premiership coach. He was later named the football’s coach of the century. In the year he was sacked Melbourne had won their first eight games. At the date of the sacking we had won nine out of 12 games and were probably heading for another finals appearance. |

Very happy to see Josh Inglis making his international debut for Australia tonight in the first T20 match against Sri Lanka at the SCG. I was lucky enough to have Josh in First Grade Premier cricket when I was umpiring when he was starting out at Joondalup cricket club. Josh is a nice guy and a good player - can bat and is a very good wicket keeper.

Australian racing is only good up to 1400m in terms of world standards when it comes to depth/quality in numbers
