I'm onto them again - Medical Specialists - my pet hate. Forget those on social benefits - this lot leave them for dead when it comes to scamming
Wife had a melanoma under her arm 20 years ago. Every year she has to have a check - that all makes sense - all good. Been going to the same place - same bloke - every time. He would be older than me I reckon. And every year its the same. Make an appointment - only to sit around for at least an hour waiting to be seen. This time 75min. At least 7 in front. Spends no more than 10min going over her body with a magnifying glass. Out the door - $240 later. Now she will get some money back - that's not the issue - its what he's earning. Just a production line of 10 to 15min appointments at $240 a pop (probably more for new patients). And i could cop that - however I'm sure he deliberately banks patients up so he doesn't have any idle time. Always the same.
Now i know i will be told we can go somewhere else - & get the records transferred blah, blah. But for once a year most folk just suck it up. Like she does.
And don't get me started on the buggers in these "Top Private Hospitals" - they all look after each other sending you backwards & forwards between themselves
Really is a disgrace. Whole system needs to be overhauled & take the power away from the Specialists. They run the medical system - although they will never admit to it. Problem is whenever attempts have been made to pull them into line they come out in force blaming the administrators - & put on go slows / sulk until they get their way. No wonder it costs a fortune to keep it going - thousands of these "Specialists" are literally on millions a year.

Whinge over !

I get a skin cancer check every year, being that fair/ginger colour, and from the old school that used no sun protection.  Especially on hands and arms when riding.
I go to a skin cancer clinic,  they run a blue light all over me,  Takes about 5 mins, and if they find small ones they burn them off, and so far I have been lucky and they havnt found big bad ones.
But, they bulk bill, and I get about 50% of the cost back from medicare.
Normally wait no more than 15 mins after scheduled time.
Maybe you need to shop around 1x1 ???

I wouldn’t be paying for annual skin checkups from any Dr who hadn’t scanned/mapped moles on my body.

Probably a fair point Rusty. Leave that up to the missus. Bugger would probably charge triple to do it though. Wouldn't want to upset the Production Line profitability.

I use Black Salve on all of mine; if they're cancerous it reacts & removes but if healthy tissue, nothing happens Big smile I've had far too many to use surgery for each & the only one that did, recurred a few years later despite such a huge margin & depth.

 Isn't Black Salve potentially dangerous?

Can cause all manner of skin damage.

That's what the pharmacy sponsored google searches would have you believe & SURE, THERE ARE IDIOTS WHO (whoops) disregard usage advice, along with poorly produced versions for sale online.
Notwithstanding the above, I've been using my 30mls pot from the UK for at least 10 years now without a hitch.
I've removed countless BCCs from forehead, scalp, nose, back & have forgotten where else, including several from OHs' ears (wouldn't wear a bloody hat 'till this Summer) & a very deep seated, 12yo hand wart which finally succumbed after 3 goes (always wait 'till fully healed before repeating.
Basic instructions = light cover area/mole for 24hrs (I go 48hrs these days). Remove & leave alone 'till healed except when the odd ones expell ooze after 2 or so days when I firmly press area with a tissue to prevent it going on clothes or pillow Big smile
Some idiots redo daily Shocked then wonder why they get negative reactions!
I know PT can vouch for it's use too Wink

I have used it to get rid of some skin cancers. Bought some about 20 years ago direct from America for a friend with cancer who gave me a vial to try. I think it goes by the name bloodroot and sanguinaria(or similar) a native American thing. Legal and widely used for treating animals but not approved for humans.

I got efudix from my guy. You don’t look real cute for a long time once it starts to work. Blisters and peeling are the norm..
I might have to look into this black salve stuff

Think a confirmed melanoma - surgically removed - is a bit different to that flaky skin things that a bit of dry ice sorts out

As stated above, mine are BCCs, biopsied prior to treatment & afterwards - all clear. The freezing caper never worked on any of mine nor warts, hence the BS.
Whilst it's illegal to sell in Oz, we're allowed to make our own. Ingredients for the most widely accepted recipe: Bloodroot; Galangal; Graviola; Chaparral; DMSO; Distilled Water; Zinc Chloride;Glycerine.

I was just reminded I'd forgotten you only salve one area at a time. A lady posted she'd done several & in a bit of pain:

The suggestion of “one at a time” is very pertinent, more so than some people realise, I think.
It’s not just about coping with the discomfort all at once - that IMO is to a degree a secondary reason ..... it is important to know that the action of BS on the abnormal cells makes it so that your body can recognise these cells once previously hidden to it, and it’s your immune system that activates and sends in the troups to kill and then to dispell.
So, be kind to your immune system and let it deal with one at a time, rather than making it work in a battle field that is exploding all at once.
