Other notable races run today include:-
The Gp2 KPMG Champion Juvenile Stakes for 2yos over a mile at Leopardstown was won by Atomic Jones  (2c  Wootton Bassett - Loyale, by Turtle Bowl).

The Gp3 Paddy Power Stakes over 12 furlongs at Leopardstown was won by Camorra  (4g Zoffany - Mauralakana, by Muhtathir). Sadly, Innisfree broke down during the running of this race.

The Gp2 Park Stakes over 7 furlongs at Doncaster was won by Glorious Journey  (6g  Dubawi - Fallen For You, by Dansili).

The Portland Handicap over 5½ furlongs at Doncaster is one of the major Sprint Handicaps in England. Its winners list include Princely Gift who carried topweight to a course record in 1955, Lochsong (1992) & Oxted (2019). This year's edition was won Hurricane Ivor  (4g  Ivawood - Quickstep Queen, by Royal Applause) who also was the topweight.

Thanks GA, as usual.  Thumbs Up

Agree the place-getters are top class, however still find it hard to accept just four going around in a Million Euro Group 1.  Given the time presume it was either a track with plenty of give or a very tactical affair.

I have said it before & I'll say it again. "Everyone underestimates Japanese form". Wet tracks might bring them unstuck but today Longchamp was rated Good. I thought I was being clever getting $7 but if I had been patient, I could have got nearly double that! Stupid me.

Deep Bond wins Prix Foy!

Five Group Ones were held today. 4 at the Curragh & 1 at Longchamp.

The Gp1 Irish St Leger over 14 furlongs at the Curragh was won by Sonnyboyliston  (4g  Power - Miss Macnamara, by Dylan Thomas) from Twilight Payment & Baron Samedi. All three placegetters were impressive. Twilight Payment had to take the field up to the tearaway leader & fought on bravely. Baron Samedi came from further back & hit the line strongly. Sonnyboyliston was coming off a victory in the Ebor Handicap last month & continued his improvement finishing powerfully.

The Gp1 Flying Five Stakes over 5 furlongs at the Curragh was won by Romantic Proposal  (5m  Raven's Pass - Playwithmyheart, by Diktat) defeating A Case Of You & Glass Slippers. The winner is out of a half sister to Toylsome who won the Gp1 Prix de la Foret at 100/1 in 2007.

The Gp1 Moyglare Stud Stakes for 2yo fillies over 7 furlongs at the Curragh was won by Discoveries  (2f  Mastercraftsman - Alpha Lupi, by Rahy) defeating Agartha & Sunset Shiraz. Discoveries is a full sister to the champion filly Alpha Centauri & a half sister to Gp1 winner Alpha Star. Her second dam East Of The Moon won 3 Group Ones & the third dam was another champion, Miesque, who was also the mother of Kingmambo. This has been an amazing damline for the Niarchos family.

The Gp1 National Stakes for 2yos over 7 furlongs at the Curragh was won by Native Trail  (2c  Oasis Dream - Needleleaf, by Observatory) who upset the odds on favourite, Point Lonsdale, by 3½ lengths with Ebro River third. Native Trail is out of a full sister to Gp1 Sptint Cup winner African Rose. These were his damline details when he won the Gp2 Superlative Stakes in July.

The Gp2 Blandford Stakes for fillies & mares over 10 furlongs at the Curragh saw another surprise when Love was caught on the line by La Petite Coco  (3f  Ruler Of The World - La Petite Virginia, by Konigstiger).

The Gp1 Prix Vermeille for fillies & mares over 12 furlongs at Longchamp was won by Teona  (3f  Sea The Stars - Ambivalent, by Authorized) who defeated the 1/5 favourite Snowfall by 1½ lengths with La Joconde third. Teona is beautifully bred. Her mother won the Gp1 Pretty Polly Stakes & Gp2 Middleton Stakes.

The Gp2 Prix Niel for 3yos over 12 furlongs at Longchamp resulted in a nose win to Bubble Gift  (3c  Nathaniel - Bubble Back, by Grand Lodge).

The Gp2 Prix Foy over 12 furlongs at Longchamp was won by the Japanese horse Deep Bond  (4h  Kizuna - Zephyranthes, by King Halo) who defeated Broome by 1½ lengths. At his previous start Deep Bond ran 2nd in the G1 Tenno Sho (Spring) & before that won the G2 Hanshin Daishoten by 5 lengths.

The Gp3 Prix du Petit Couvert over 5 furlongs at Longchamp was won by 3½ lengths by Berneuil  (4g  Lope De Vega - Derivatives, by Dansili).

The Gp3 Prix du Pin over 7 furlongs at Longchamp was won by Sagamiyra  (4m  Sea The Moon - Saghaniya, by Rock Of Gibraltar). At her previous start she was runner-up to Mother Earth in the Gp1 Prix Rothschild.

Search For A Song back to her best in the Gp3 Loughbrown Stakes over 2 miles at the Curragh. She defeated The Mediterranean by 9½ lengths.

Good card at Longchamp tonight including the 4000m WFA G1 race. A good card which leads us to Sunday...the Arc.

Trueshan just loves the mud. Far too good for Stradivarius under those conditions in the Gp1 Prix du Cadran.

Trueshan was outstanding. Looked Stradivarius was going settle down and fight it out but he could not go with the winner.

The Gp1 Prix de Royallieu  for fillies & mares over 14 furlongs at Longchamp was won by Loving Dream  (3f  Gleneagles - Kissable, by Danehill Dancer). Earlier in the season, she won the Gp2 Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot. These were her damline details at the time. She is related to Brian Boru, Best Solution, Workforce & Sea Moon.

The Gp1 Sun Chariot Stakes for fillies & mares over a mile at Newmarket was won by Saffron Beach  (3f  New Bay - Falling Petals, by Raven's Pass). Earlier in the season, she ran second in the Gp1 One Thousand Guineas & then in August won the Gp3 Atalanta Stakes. These were her damline details at the time. She is from the family of Miswaki, Eternity Star & Cotai Glory.

The winner (Trueshan) was good, won easily in the end. I also think Stradivarius is close to retirement. Has had a great career.

Big upset in the Arc with the German horse Torquator Tasso (4h Adlerflug - Tijuana, by Toylsome) winning at huge odds from Tarnawa with Hurricane Lane 3rd. The race was contested on a heavy track. Torquator Tasso had previously won two Gp1s in Germany. These were his damline details when he won the Grosser Preis von Baden in September. He traces to the influential broodmare Allegretta.

I've been waiting for Creative Force to race again & now he has just won the Gp3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot.
Thumbs Up

Today is Champions Day at Ascot & the Gp1 British Champions Sprint Stake over 6 furlongs has been won by Creative Force (3g Dubawi - Choose Me, by Choisir) who defeated last years' winner Glen Shiel with Minzaal 3rd.

These were Creative Force's damline details after winning the Gp3 Jersey Stakes in June. He seems to like racing at Ascot. His half-sister, Persuasive, won the Gp1 Queen Elizabeth at the Champions meeting in 2017.

Earlier, the Gp2 British Champions Long Distance Cup over 2 miles was won by Trueshan from Tashkhan & Stradivarius.

There was a big upset in the Gp1 British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes over 12 furlongs with victory going to Eshaada  (3f  Muhaarar - Muhawalah, by Nayef) who narrowly defeated Albaflora with odds on favourite Snowfall a well beaten third. Her mother, Muhawalah, is a half sister to Tamayuz who won the Gp1 Prix Jean Prat & Gp1 Prix Jacques le Marois & has also sired Group One winners.

This is yet another Gp1 winner who traces back to Allegretta from family 9-h.

The Gp1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes saw the much anticipated clash between Baaeed & Palace Pier. They had a great battle with Baaeed  (3c  Sea The Stars - Aghareed, by Kingmambo) prevailing by a narrow margin from Palace Pier with Lady Bowthorpe third.

Baaeed now unbeaten in 6 starts!

The Gp1 Champion Stakes over 10 furlongs was won by Sealiway  (3c  Galiway - Kensea, by Kendargent) who defeated Dubai Honour (by Pride Of Dubai) with Mac Swiney third.

Mishriff, Adayar & Addeybb were all unplaced.

At his previous start, Sealiway ran 5th in the Arc. This was his second Group One victory having won Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere by a big margin as a 2yo last year.

Yesterday's Group Ones, all 2yos.

The Gp1 Futurity Trophy Stakes over a mile at Doncaster was won by the current Derby favourite, Luxembourg  (2c  Camelot - Attire, by Danehill Dancer).

The Gp1 Criterium International over 7 furlongs at Saint-Cloud was won by Angel Bleu  (2c  Dark Angel - Cercle De La Vie, by Galileo). 3 weeks ago, he also won the Gp1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp. A grandson of outstanding Australian broodmare Hveger.

The Gp1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud over 10 furlongs at Saint-Cloud was won by El Bodegon  (2c  Kodiac - Al Andalyya, by Kingmambo). A full brother to Caulfield Cup winner, Best Solution.

In a few hours, we see the running of the Gp1 Prix Royal-Oak over 15½ furlongs on a wet track.

I notice that Best Solution ran second in the 2016 Criterium de Saint-Cloud.  El Bodegon will be a smart horse if he keeps going one better than his brother.

We should do a Ballydoyle death count for 2022.

It is sad this astonishing filly has lost her life I am staggered by the number of good quality horses Ballydoyle loses.

It might be more perception than fact.
